  • Airtable List Views are one of the most exciting features to roll out from Airtable in the past year. Now we have a way to be able to better visualize hierarchical data across multiple tables - something that tools like Notion and Clickup have been doing at the core of their applications.

This was the most helpful video I have found so far on how to create the linked accounts. The one thing I would say is (for us who are just learning airtable and trying to cram it all in a short period of time), I wish you would have done an overview of your tables and filters and sorting so that it would take the guess work out of how to configure this part. Other than that, this video was great. Thanks.

The whole building from the child up to the parent thing has been so confusing trying to brain, like you were saying around 9:20
Thanks for breaking this down so clearly!

Nice job. I was also wondering about nested objects and how they should work as I also don’t like that they show up in two places. I also would like to see a print option for this view.

what are the extensions you would suggest? I am attempting to set this up for billing. I have now watched your video several times. I still cannot figure out how to get the data nested. I have searched everywhere for videos and information on how to do this for itemized data for claims.

I was hoping that I could build List Views from Lookup fields, or even Single Select fields - when I initially tested it wasn't possible. I'm yet to use them in production, but have one area where I think they'll help.
But regardless, there's still no pre-filtered Link Field returns - breaks my heart! We've wanted them forever and we still don't have them. 😢

I'm with ya on the pre-filtered linked fields. Seems like such a common use case!

Hi there, I was successful setting up the data I want to capture in a list view. Questions, how do I set this up in each table moving forward in my workspace without setting up every month and then how do I set up this view to send automatically to another co-worker? I tried to set up an automation when a record enters a view and it didn't allow me to choose the list view.

Now the question is, how do we show this in the Interface page?

Any idea why the check in the boxes just disappears as soon as you open another base, table, or close the tab? Seems kind of useless in this case.

In the draggable part of the UI? It does seem a little finicky right now, hoping they work on the design a little bit

@@danleeman I figured it out. Yeah. I realized that it is just to select the records much like a regular grid view.

@@brettprice527 I also thought that they were checkoff things.
If you want to create a check off type deal, go to "Customize Rows" with the gear icon (btwn "Set Levels" and "Filtered") and check out the "Prefix field" option! You can choose to make a new checkbox or use a field that is a checkbox type. It'll make it so you can check things off as you go.

can this be a solution for the inventory system wherein the order has multiple items?

Yes, I think this would work great for any kind of line items!

Hi, quick question, is there a way to order the sub items in the drop-down list? Say I have 3 subtasks and they need to be done one after the other, but the system is automatically sorting them and won’t allow me to order them to my needs

    • @MieyaOladipupo
      @MieyaOladipupo Před rokem +1

I think if you add a number field to the task and than sort them in order and group them by projects that may work.

And of course you won't be able to display the subtasks of the subtasks.
