  • One of the most intimidating parts of hunting for first timers is gutting an animal. It's a lot easier than you think and hands on is the most important way to learn. This is by far the cleanest way to dress a hog. It may not be the fastest, but this isn't a race its food. There are numerous videos of wild boar gut removal on CZcams. However, I have never seen a detailed and kind video like this. It really helped a lot. Thank you.

    So just to be clear, if any poop gets on the carcass, it’s tainted?

    King and queen of the south. Thank you for making this video. I grew up city and didn’t have a dad who hunted so wouldn’t have ever learned this. The way the world is going. I wanted to know how to clean a hog and your video popped up. I can say I’m no longer intimidated by this. But I will definitely be patient and remember this video. Very well done to teach ppl like me. I guess my only question is. To skin it do you just lift skin and follow along the skin with knife as thin as ya can?
    Also anything that we need to do after this skinning and dressing. Before we cook it besides rinsing it one last time?

      @OmnivoresHomesteadAndQuivers  Před rokem

      Skinning hogs is a little tougher than deer. They don’t peel so you have to use a knife the whole time. You don’t have to do anything to it after except a little rinse if necessary and get it good either on ice or refrigerator

    Calmly skinning the boar is as beautiful and enjoyable as hunting it, it is part of the ritual. It is a shame to throw away the "nuts" of the boar, it is a festive dish for a lot of wine. I like that you don't use huge knives for your skinning. Happy hunting and good health.

    Did you all try the Wild Boar Rocky Mountain Oysters? I once had Bull Rocky Mountain Oysters at Cabela's. They were pretty good. It felt like eating fired Calmp Strips. Also, do you keep any of the organs from the Wild Boar? Such as heart or liver. Also, that Wild Boar was fully intact. What did the meat taste like? Was it still well enough to eat? I am talking about Boar Taint.

    Where can we get that hook? The closest I ever came to gutting a pig was when we did our own in nursing school. A pig & a human are physically made the same way as far as the organs, lungs, heart etc. Quite interesting. Watched field dressing of a deer. I never cut up an animal but I've wrapped more meat than any other woman I know, especially living on a dairy farm. We raised red veal young bulls too- quite the market we built up in that-
