I am a retired RN who used to work in Urgent Care. We would see a lot of injuries with cuts, gashes, you name it. All our doctors could stitch up a wound to simply close it but, if someone had a cut that went through the lip line we would need to call a plastic surgeon. The difference in suturing was impressive. The lip line must be perfectly aligned or else you would end up with an uneven appearance, so it was critical. I loved assisting them and watching them do their art.
Truly is an art, agreed. And I love lip surgery! Please subscribe to the channel!
My daughter in law had skin cancer right near her nose, her dermatologist was also trained in plastic surgery, I too have had four surgeries on my face for skin cancer, the difference in the sutures and resulting scar is unbelievable, when my daughter in law had surgery she and her family lived in Spokane but were moving back here to Texas in May, her surgery was in March. I saw her on May 2, I could not have seen what side her surgery was on had she not told me, in less than six weeks the results were better than any that I’ve ever had. When she showed me the pictures of her sutures I would guess she had 80-100. The most I’ve had would be 15-18 for wounds three inches long on my face. My first surgery for cancer was on my back for malignant Melanoma, the scar is
around 8-9 inches long, still didn’t have many sutures, but they were huge, around 3/4 inches wide. Last surgery on my face was this past September and a plastic surgeon was supposed to do the surgery at my MOHS surgeon’s office but at last minute they let me know that he didn’t take my insurance. So the MOHS surgeon did the surgery and it’s fine, I’m 80 and not so vain anymore, but what I wanted was radiation or chemo cream, but I was told no. Standing my ground if there is a next one.
Dr Hidalgo was my surgeon for breast augmentation…. He did an amazing job! I was barely sore following the surgery!! And I love the fact that he’s an artist….def think it’s a huge asset for him!🙏🏻
The first time I read about dr. Hidalgo was in a chapter of a book named Beauty Junkies where he was known for breast surgeries and his patients called their new breasts as Hidalgos.
I'm an architect and artist. I'm currently working towards med school to become a plastic surgeon.
👍🏼
great video, as a young plastic surgeon myself I would love to see more podcasts and videos of our plastic surgical predecessors. Wonderful to hear and see Dr Hidalgo and learn from his story.
More videos like this please! There are so many talented surgeons in NYC would love to hear from more of them.
Already filmed a few more! Will drop another in 2 weeks or so.
Thank you Dr. Gary for interview with Dr. David Hidalgo who is not only an accomplished plastic surgeon, but appears to be very well balanced on a personal level.
It was fun!
Two marvellous doctors, artists and, most of all, people. What a threat. Thank you
Thanks! 🙏
I think the the cosmetic dentists who design and install veneers need to be in on this conversation as well- LIKE ASAP.
Wow. Two highly educated, trained, well spoken and thoughtful individuals talking about interesting topics. Such a refresher in this world. Thank you!
Thank you, this really helped me make my decision! I inquired about the fat transfer procedure at a popular plastic surgeon's office in my area They called it a "routine" procedure they offer and contacted me to make my consult appt.
I trust Dr Hidalgo with all of his education & experience so I think it's best for me to opt out.
Such a thoughtful and intelligent conversation.
Honored to have gotten my question included in the discussion. I did not expect his answer, which was interesting. Thanks!
Great question!
This presentation was well thought out. Dr. Hidalgo’s perspective on cosmetic surgery, builds one’s confidence to undergo it. Spectacular job by both surgeons! 🎉
After seeing his art…
I’d trust him as a surgeon…
But now I want to work with him as a fellow artist. I’ve been a performance artist/art model for 15 years. He seems like he would be AMAZING to work with.
I understand the whole “It takes a year” I’ve worked with artists who take 1-2 years to finish a piece. I can’t wait to see his gallery show when it’s time.
Great conversation, I’m a dancer and former gymnast, 2 broken noses and the plastic surgeon was an amazing artist. I wouldn’t have any other plastic surgery personally. But I was blessed with good bone structure from my parents.
Excellent video! - I’m a hairdresser & a lot of the fundamentals mentioned here apply to my work also. ✌🏽
Awesome! Thank you!
What a great interview! Thank you! I’m scheduled for a second post mastectomy reconstruction in about a month and really appreciate the insight you provided. 😊
Would just like to say congrats on the growth of this Channel. I am an ORL - HNS from the Philippines, now taking up fellowship training in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Videos are always so well - explained and evidence - based. It was interesting when I noted that you were a chapter author in Cummings!
Aww thx!
Dr Gary is an ethical guy and a gentle soul I think.
Very nice conversation 😊…
This was a great interview, Gary! Keep the learning coming! ❤
I am only 8 minutes in, and have to say that this truly is a wonderful and interesting conversation. Thank you :)
these are always my favourite videos, showing and talking more of what goes on behind the curtains ☺
Thanks! I enjoyed this video. I'm not a patient of either one of you, but it's fun to know a little bit about the person behind the professional facade.
That's my goal with this series! Thanks.
Thank you for the great interview. I have seen many of your vlogs, you are wonderful, I hope I can consult you in the future. I am 55 and find it very difficult to choose a surgeon who I fully trust with a major surgery such as a full facelift, because I had a bad experience the last time with blepharoplasty even though I have researched it and consulted 3 different surgeons. In the end I regret the choice I have made terribly, as I am so unhappy with the result. It was a surgery that was absolutely indicated by my eye specialist, not a frivolous one. Previously I also had a very positive experience with otoplasty, it changed my life when I was a teenager, in that I did not have to hide my ear any longer under my hair, it freed me to do sports that I avoided, because I did not want anyone to see my deformed ear on the right side. So I have a great appreciation for what plastic surgery can achieve, it's just so hard to take the risk that the result will not be as promised.
I appreciate hearing, "Photoshop is a big problem" in this video. Thank you, to the cosmetic surgeon, for saying this. I still believe no female would WANT to get cosmetic facial surgery if she's getting LOTS of genuine unsolicited compliments in person - IRL. I had a few females friends (college-age and twenties) who got nose jobs or boob jobs because they WEREN'T hearing flattering remarks from others IRL, but they didn't look better - didn't look like stereotypical bombshells afterwards anyway. They should have stayed away from surgery in these cases.
Doc, can you please make a video on the subject of lip lift techniques? Different types, such as the bullhorn technique, seagull, Italian, corner lip lift, V to Y, your favorite, what technique you'd recommend, etc...🙏
Super funny that you just wrote this, planning to film on this tomorrow!!! Vid should be out in next 2 weeks. Stay tuned.
Appreciate your thoughts @ 7:07. I sense that pressure in one of your live videos you had done in surgery. How could anyone in leadership accountability be at ease at all times? I've worked with some who were way too harsh and immature. While some were great though, pressure to adhere assertiveness in their tone had to be necessary. And those were well recepted. Understandably, my thoughts are the same page as you both had addressed. It's nice to know.
Thanks for the comment
Thank you 😊 it's rare to know doctors like you and what you do in your work of excellence.
I love content like this more of it please 🙏
More to come.
This was really interesting thanks
Brilliant video
It’s like listening to zen masters.
Both so well spoken and articulate! Thank you dr gary for your efforts and bringing an experts perspective! If i ever want a breast augmentation I know who to go to now!
Thanks for watching! He's a really impressive person.
thanks
Could you do a video on DUPA and possible treatments? The information online is very limited. Does DUPA have the same causes as MPB or is prolactin and progesterone also at play here?
Great insight of being a plastic surgeon, thanks from Peru.
Can I ask a question off topic? Do you know of any plastic surgeons who surgically remove Radiesse? I know it's possible in a few ways but I've been looking for days and calling and can't seem to find anyone who does it. I was overcorrected and in areas where it's making hard to have enough room to chew. Also can't completely close my bite on the sides so for a year I've had to pretty much mouth breathe and it's effecting my health. I don't care if it leaves scars. I'm really hoping you might know of someone.
Please please do a thorough analysis of EVA MENDES new face next

I think David saw what an amazing medical communicator Gary can be and felt a bit threatened like his job was on the line.
Oh gosh I don’t think so. Dr. Hidalgo has seen it all before.
