i enjoy the reverse test, it’s interesting to see and not everyone does it. keep the reverse test!
What is the benefit of a reverse test ?
Honestly, the test seems a bit backwards to me.
Why ? Who reverses fast ?
You'd be surprised how many sales people don't know their own product's reverse top speed.
Great to see the decibel readings - very useful in comparison to others. Do keep doing that.👌👌
One of the best reviews on CZcams I have ever seen.
I mean, the template you used is of world class standard!!!
One thing I would like to see in the review videos is a quick snippet of what the entry and mid-tier models look like because they are, naturally, lacking in features to the top spec models that the manufacturers nearly always give out for press reviews. For example in the base X-Trail you get a plastic steering wheel and you need to step up to the top of the range Ti grade to get the 12.3 inch instrument cluster and infotainment, otherwise you get a measly 8 inch info and 7 inch TFT instrument display. It would even help just to mention what a couple of the major differences are between models.
Agree 💯
Most people won't spend $60k plus on a Nissan. There are lots of better options in that price range.
@@gboi264like?
@@Scrappy-CZcams depends on your preference.
For SuV's - Hyundai Santa Fe, Hyundai Tucson, Mazda CX8 or 9 (depending on the trim level), Peugeot 3008, Audi Q3, Toyota RAV4.
If you don't mind used...you could snap up a Mercedes GLC or a BMW X3..there are so many optionss..
@gboi264 glc starts at 84 grand same with bmw x3. Idk the x trail is just amazing and we always go for top of the range so spending 60k isnt bad. But i personally think the genesis gv70 is a way better car than anything rn
@@gboi264😂😂😂😂GLC isn't anywhere near Nissan XTrail budget
Nice review. Like it that you keep it real and not just try to please the car manufacturers or dealers.
Paul's sigh of disappointment with the rear window test 😂😂 gets me everytime.
Thank Goodness CarExpert is reviewing this car. Your review is very detailed indeed.
In Chile is already on sale now, and in January we are going to have the E-Power version of these suv on sale.
Very good test Paul.
Another great review, thank you. If I may one suggestion when you drop your 0-100kph times, sound db levels, or when you list safety features or economy numbers - like most people cross shopping in this segment could you pop up say the best in class of similar SUVs tested [ or just for those you mention as competitors] to aid quick comparative data for viewers. Hopefully not too big an ask. Looking forward to to seeing the e-power version of the XTrail tested here. Thanks again, your channel is my go to for all car info. Cheers
I am waiting for my new x trail to arrive. Thank you for your detailed review.
I purchased the X-Trail ST-L All wheel drive after watching this review I used your videos to compare others of this size and price. I love the vehicle so far, there is an issue with the foot sensor on the rear tailgate, doesn’t work had it replaced twice apparently you have to pick the exact spot for the sensor to open. In the car yard we took the sensor to the test, it didn’t work on the other cars either. So this would be something for Nissan to address. It was a perk I wanted but doesn’t affect the overall performance. Love the Auto engine start. Sensor unlocking and locking. The centre console 2 wing opening is so much better than lifting a lid. Love the gap under the console very handy. Seats are comfortable on long drives very comfortable and roomy for tall rear passenger's. Good Looking car. Heaps of room and good on petrol. If it wasn’t for your videos I would still be hesitating on WHICH CAR. You took the confusion out of it Thankyou
Great to see that you're showing what is under the hood!
Watched most of the reviews, keep coming back to your review,
After finally finding a demo at the dealership and test driving one on Friday, I immediately put a deposit on the Ti-L.
Too bad there is a 8 month wait in Melb but got the order in before the end of the financial year.
It will be my first EV experience and the wait should be worth it.
Thank you Paul for raising my interest, hopefully next year I'll let you know my own review...
Are you happy with your car ?
@@BluePandaa284 thank you so much for asking, unfortunately don't have the car yet,
Stupid Nissan dealership first said end of Feb delivery when I signed paperwork
Then they said end of April delivery, now they are saying May - June delivery
Lucky I'm in no rush so I don't mind the wait but they advertise as they don't have Toyota wait times but still take a year to manufacture 1 car and deliver, pathetic lazy Aussie dealerships is all I can say.
Will keep you updated once I have it and maybe even make a video!
Unfortunately it's a problem for the whole of Australia. I hope you get your car soon :)
Would have loved to see someone review the safety feature if your to let go of the steering wheel for example fall asleep or have a medical episode, truly hit a spot for me as my mum had a stroke unexpectedly recently. The dealer took me for a drive to show me and it really was a great feature to see, also the way the auto high beams work and how the gradually all reactivate as the car passes you, great feature for country roads in Australia. And the smart cruise control that alerts you speed changes while using it and how simple it is to change speed this is helpful for places like Melbourne where their freeways change speeds frequently. Mentioning the air bag between the front seats also helped give me a real sense of safety.
Great review, Paul. Will there ever be a medium SUV comparo in future. I'd love your opinion of this vs the Sportage.
Picked ours up last Sunday. Huge upgrade over our 2014 model in terms of design, technology and the driving experience. I don't know whether it was just my dealer or whether all Nissan dealers are doing it at the moment, but mine came with a 10 year warranty so long as I get it serviced at that Nissan dealer, and 5 years free road side assist. Could have been because I was a loyal customer with that dealer though they didn't mention why and my salesman didn't know I had previously been with them anyway. I have had cars from that dealer since 2008.
Are you sure that you're not just paying for the extended warranty via higher servicing costs?
@@pheenix1976 Not paying any extra for the extended warranty at the moment. The service prices are capped for the first 6 years/60,000km with the prices that are in the written review and quoted by Nissan. What they'll charge after that though could be through the roof to pay for the extra 5 years warranty. Guess ill find out then.
@@pheenix1976 some dealers have a lifetime powertrain warranty on miles and may cover 10 years. I just have to get the cvt serviced every 60k miles and oil changes every 5k miles. Got spark plugs at 100k miles. Coolant is coming at 150k I believe...I have 130k on my cvt altima 2019 and running good. I also have 415k miles on a cvt altima as well.
just ordered Ti_l, cant wait for it!!
Thanks for the review. I rented this one in Japan recently - same sluggish CVT performance as with previous X-Trail - no overtaking power; electronic rear view mirror - a misleading camera showing objects further away than they really are with no zoom adjustment, otherwise comfortable interior, luxury straight line ride, good i-4x4 for snow (good luck finding it in Australia).
As for hybrid - why do I need petrol engine, two electric motors, inverter and battery combined together to get satisfying performance? The car needs turbo 2.5L engine or V6.
Having driven the NA and 1.5T version, the new variable displacement turbo engine is a really big improvement.. it even sounds good too IMO. Haven't measured manually, but the display also shows I've gotten 42.3mpg (US) as my peak fuel economy so far, and regularly can pull off 40mpg on my highway commute.
slick bro love it
I don’t understand how the top spec model of any car in 2022/23 can still have incandescent bulbs??
Literally one of the reasons I'm not buying it. I'll wait
99% of buyers would not even notice 😮
@@classicgator2434 ahahaha bro if this is a big deal you can easely change by yourself. It would cost you hundred dollar.
Because they are better and cheapie to maintain
@@sa34w I’ll take your word for it on them being cheaper to maintain, but why are they better?
Great review as usual Paul, how about a headlights test included in each review.
Thanks … a great review.
I'm not going to lie it looks good i love this
Great reverse test! Next car reviewer would do the lateral and flying test from now on.....
I'm glad that nissan improved this car in the areas it needed to be improved I love the look of the x trail t31 and t32 but hated the look of the t32 it discarded what the xtrail was all about and I'm glad they brought back a boxy practical suv and I feel like I would spend the money on this car plus the t32 infotainment system was really bad so I'm glad to see nissan up it's game with that
One addition you could check to see is, if the unlock button can open all windows if pressed long enough on different cars you're testing. Such a feature is beneficial for those that stay in a warmer climate.
I think that was a VW group feature. I don’t see it too often on other cars.
@@User-cb4jm it is common on most Lexus and some Toyota models. Not sure if other manufacturers added the same feature.
Kia has this, but only opens the front two windows
@@User-cb4jm Plenty of other cars have it, our Mercedes GLA does as well as even our ancient 2001 Corvette.
It has this feature 😊
Looks awesome
Decided to go with the Outlander because it was $5k cheaper for the features we wanted and would have had to go top spec to get the same in x trail. Plus the warranty period with mitsi is double
I've ordered Ti 4WD coming before Xmas. Very good-looking inside out.
They shud get rid of that cvt
@TheGillederais in USA 9 speed auto. Unfortunately for Australian market CVT 😕
@@samy4288 this nissan xtrail sold in the US as Nissan Rogue, it has even worse drivetrain, 3 cylinders turbocharge and it has cvt still, google it..
@TheGillederais as far as I've seen it on Drivin with Tom Voelk motor review, they got rid of CVT on the new platform
I hope for your sake that terrible CVT has been improved.
Hi Paul, can you please review options for 7 seaters, specially for buget consumers. Cheapest etc ?
Looks great. Could benefit from a turbo engine for added torque.
The Rouge, X-Trail, and the Pathfinder all look nice and fresh.
Nissan is back in business.
Thinking of trading in my Tucson Highlander N-Line Diesel for one of these. Looks great!
All the seats we found more comfortable on the X-Trail than the Outlander. Seat comfort made us move into the Ti level. Then we found the Ti-L a tad better so ended up ordering one. The X-Trail drove superbly and actually felt right for me. Better than the Forester for feeling responsive. Forester lost out due to its camera system. Has the cameras but lacks 360, but good safety approach. I've used 360 for years and it is a very useful feature and is way up there on my desirability items. The X-Trail 'unresponsive' driver feature is very good, the potential in the future for such safety is great. Overall the Forester was good, price wise probably makes more sense, but the Nissan was superb all round and is the type of rare vehicle that I think I'll enjoy every time I sit in it. Last vehicle like that was my 2003 RAV4. Do not buy a car without testing, we are all individuals and there is a big difference in how they actually 'fit'. Some will be right, some just feel wrong.
7:35 rear doors opening that wide is rare to see on vehicles. i presume because when parking in tight spaces they refuse to do it but really like it on this vehicle.
Heard it said that more cars will have door dents now .Kids getting out
Class looking motor! As a caravanner, disappointed there is no diesel model available.
I like this kind of review with 0-100 :)
Manufacturers jamp pack all tech in their cars but how hard is it to have a built-in dashcams 🤔
It would be nice if you can include the servicing schedule. Thank you.
Well done Paul, I'm actually enjoying your reviews more and more. A step up from the old X-trail, but still a bit ordinary in some areas. Considering the price though, a little lack lustre.
Bro I guess u have more information than Nissan Engineer who designed this Car- That’s y I love to watch ur review ❤
Let down by anaemic 2.5 NA and CVT
Yea what’s with that. Watch them lie to you and tell you the soul sucking CVT is for “fuel savings” when in reality a 2.0 Turbo + 6/8sp auto will get far better performance and fuel economy from not needing to be worked as hard.
The e power version doesn’t use CVT just like full electric cars
Don't forget this is a big unit. We looked at one and although nice it was just too big for everyday practical parking etc. The Australian classification for a mid- size SUV is classed as large in most other markets.
I have always liked the X-Trail and this new edition seems to continue the trend of making better looking and different than competitors like those coming from Toyota or Honda :)
I have a Lexus NX 350H on order but after seeing this Xtrail TI-L in person. The TI-L ePower looks very attractive. I cannot see why I should proceed with the NX for another 20K more.
What did you end up doing
Glove box is tiny because of whatever hardware they kept on the passenger side when adapting driver position to right side.
I didn't see a panoramic camera on the official website of Nissan Australia. Has it been canceled in Australia?
Another fantastic review Paul, you are one of the best on CZcams. Had the Ti petrol over night and have to say the more I drove it the more I was really impressed. My question is: Will the hybrid version be reliable? Or stick to the NA motor? Being very new tech and apparently very complicated. Is it safe to be an early adopter?
dont do it . Toyota all the way
@@fisho2620 with free cheap plastics inside and 90's infotainment system. why not !
Is there any motion activated tailgate on the Ti model?
Can you now roll down the window with the remote?
Have you done or is it please possible to do the Electric/Hybrid Model?
Can you please review 7 seater STL version?
Wow this is such a beautiful car shits on my 2015 x trail
i was going to buy one but i heard there maybe a turbo version coming so im holding off for now.
What?! We get VC Turbo charge engine here in the US for the Nissan Xtrail/ Rogue
I have this model and very happy with it
How is the road/tyre noise in the cabin, may I ask? I did drive the Ti briefly but did not get to drive long enough on all sorts of surfaces.
we need that infotainment system in the US Rogue !!!
Will the Koleos twin also be based on this?
You should address reliability since that is a huge factor in people's decisions. Back in the day, Nissan had a bad reputation for reliability. How are they now? Is the transmission a good brand like Aisin?
Looks like if this engine was a hybrid with more punch it would be the best SUV out there. When it comes it will be 🙂
Wondering when the 1.5T engine will join the Australian line-up. Also, I'm personally very interested in the e-power hybrid version and may purchase one when I will buy medium such a size SUV.
They should be offering the hybrid option at all trim levels if they want to take on the RAV4 hybrid - not gatekeeping it behind the top ~$60k model. The base hybrid would be a big seller and compete with the RAV4 GX Hybrid.
toyotas hybrids are the best
@@User-cb4jm About had a heart attack when you said they sell for 60 thousand bucks, but then I realized you were talking about dollarydoos.
Just wish it had another 50mm or so clearance
What do you think about the CVT? Do it change in this model?
No signwaves on this review? Would like to have seen how it performed
Pavl...any news when will the new model navara/triton collaboration come out?
Probably still another year way or so.
Does it have the same cvt that were made famous for major catastrophe failure at around the 7 year or 140km mark
If it competes with Kia Sportage, Hyundai Tucson, so what’s the opponent’s for Nissan Qashqai?
G'Day,
As you have tested both and taking price and warranty out of the equation, on overall pure performance and luxury if you had to decide between this non electric top of the line Nissan X-Trail and the non electric top of the line Mitsubishi Outlander which would you choose and why?
I currently have to make this decision and can't quite make up my mind.
Thanks heaps in advance...
Hello Paul,
Are you doing review Nissan Xtrail E-power in Australian road Soon?
Thanks
We have a review on the channel already :-)
i have buy the 1.5 VTurbo Mild Hybrid 120kw 300 NW, Tekna + Bose + Panorama Glass for 42500e in Germany. I have the 2WD X Trail without e Force. The price is with a big discount 9600 Euro. :) Color Pearl Whit and next week i can drive with it, nice.
Why don’t they put a full size spare, considering it will fit?
I left home to buy a byd sealion 6. I bought a Nissan xtrail. Sealion6 had an incredibly small boot space. It's hard to understand how such a big car can have such a small boot. Although the sealion6 looks better interior, when I sat in the xtrail, I said I was driving an real SUV. In terms of driving dynamics, I felt like the xtrail was holding on to the road better, even though it was non turbo petrol engine. It is the most powerful non turbo engine so far i felt. 5 minutes after opening the boot and checking how big boot is, I placed my xtrail order.
When are you testing the new kia seltos
Would like to see the Uphill driving test
I have always liked Nissan as I had a Pathfinder but I am a bit nervous about their CVTs
My question is, can it be overtaken with the 163 hp gasoline engine?
It's good to see Nissan is finally improving their cars, still wouldn't get one, except the Nissan GTR (rip).
Hey Paul! Could you include a moose test please?
Ha ha, you will have to send a moose to Australia first..
I'd settle for the Aussie version, the big roo test.
Are they downsize on this xtrail? Thought all nissan Xtrail alway be 7 seater?
Why not the 7speed AT
Does anyone know the waiting period [Ti Petrol] in Sydney?
What happens if you accidentally bump a plastic panel. Can it be fixed like metal or needs to be replaced?
Replacement only
14:06 what's with the fuel range on this? Indicates 3/4 fuel at 9.7l/100 yet the range remaining is 203km? Forgetting the 9.7 still this thing seems heavy on fuel.
Please review the new BMW X1 18i. Please 😇
probably get a CX-5 turbo then if you need more power at 17:31. plus CX-5 has real 6 automatic torque converter gears that is reliable.
The Cx 5 is quite small compared to this car. And even though it's small, it's the car with the most blind spots. It's no fun to drive.
Also in terms of design, both inside and out, this car looks much better. The Cx 5 is almost identical to the design of 10 years ago. It's 2024 cmon
New 2023 rogue review please , Paul
Dont get rogue in Australia
Very good improvement but why so many car companies not do led globes...
Yea halogens are butt-ugly, and especially with indicators, you can’t upgrade them yourself or you’ll have issues with hyperflash.
I kinda don’t mind halogen reverse lights in an otherwise all LED setup as that simply means I can put properly bright LEDs in there myself. Stock LED reverse lights are great but brightness is sometimes hit or miss.
@@User-cb4jm the led globes just last the life of the car
I've been in both top spec of the new Outlander and Rogue and for me the Outlander looks and feels more premium in and out plus the Outlander has better graphics in the digital instrument cluster also better warranty, built in Japan, and Super All Wheel Control.
built in japan counts for nothing. buy toyota
💯
Nice hmmmm may test drive
Please feauture nissan teana please thanks alot...
2024: what would be your pick? This one or CRV?
Whether this new X-trail has laminated glass?
What is fuel economy
here in sydney and on the site the starting price is around 40-41k
yeah i don t understand why on the review it s always cheaper, and i dont think it s just because of the registration fees - unless price has increased since the reviews due to manufacturing costs - i m having a hard time breaking the 40k mark to be honest now, under 40k seemed to be reasonnable
It actually looks a lot like Rav4 but much fancier inside! Anyone knows waiting time for x-trail in Australia?
When I called yesterday, Sydney post code, 3m for petrol versions 6m for hybrid
@@ivan2110 yeah about 3-5 months for the Petrol (ti) in Vic for me 😊
Is it me?or this new xtrail lower compare to previous gen?
Nissan still uses jatco cvt? Do they have more reliable cvts recent batches? 2020 was the worst year of nissan because of many faulty cvts reported. Please share your thoughts on jatcos cvt after 2020, have they improved the reliability?
I dont know which transmision is good? Dct, dsg, subarus transmission mazdas transmission, even torque transmission. When i watched a video for a car, there are some people always say something bad about its transmission. I think there are no such good transmission around us.
