    I've been using Dehancer for a year and your video was really helpful. I was overwhelmed by Dehancer's website so I was just messing around with all of the settings, just seeing what each did. I was pretty happy with how my footage ended up looking, I just didn't completely understand what everything was supposed to be doing. Thank you for explaining what each of the settings actually does in a simple and easy-to-follow manner!

    Please allow me one question, there is one thing I was wondering about. In the Project Settings you choose DaVinci WG and DaVinci Intermediate for Input- and Timeline Color Space.
    In Dehancer you set as Source DaVinci WG/Rec 709. Shouldn't it be DaVinci WG/Intermediate matching to your Project Settings?

    Hi Goerge, for Primaries, why do you use HDR wheel?

    • @george.colorist
      @george.colorist  Před rokem

      Using the HDR wheels along with a DaVinci Wide Gamut color space allows for more "naturalistic" adjustments. Adjusting exposure using the Global HDR wheel is more similar to adjusting the actual exposure on your camera than if you were making an adjustment with the Gain wheel. Both the HDR wheels and Color Warper will behave in this "natural" manner when working in a DaVinci Wide Gamut color space. Using the HDR wheels is just another way to go about making adjustments.

      Dehancer has a setting which makes it less processor intensive. So far, I haven't had issues with slow playback, lag while making adjustments, etc. You can put Dehancer on one node in the Timeline section of your node tree, making it a global adjustment, but that'll change how you'll be using Dehancer.

    Can someone tell me why this $400 add-on to a $300 software (or even free if you bought their cameras) is better than all the effects DR comes with?? 🤔

    • @george.colorist
      @george.colorist  Před rokem +1

      One of the main reasons is the large library of film stocks that it comes with. Multiply the number of negative film stocks by the number of positive film stocks that Dehancer gives you and that is the minimum amount of looks that you can get with Dehancer either as a final look or a good starting point for further adjustments. Aside from that, the film emulation workflow is laid out in an organized way and all the effects you need are right there in one node. The effects of Dehancer also work differently. Some feel they work "better" than the ones in Resolve such as the grain, bloom, and halation effects. They offer a free trial so check it out to see if it's something you'd like to incorporate into your workflow 👍🏼 $400 is a lot for a plugin so it's definitely worth it to try it out first. If you decide you want to get it, you can get a 10% discount with my affiliate code "GEORGE". Thanks for watching.

    • @MediaWebservice
      @MediaWebservice Před rokem +2

      We think the $400 is the reason Dehancer doesn't show a price on their website and wants to link directly to a download for a trial version. Probably in the hope that after a number of NLE projects/editings you will not be able to easily go back to previous montages without much loss of time. It is always suspicious if the price is not available or is very difficult to find. For a plug-in compared to the very reasonable (lifetime!!!) price tag of the Studio version of DaVinci Resolve, Dehancer is extremely expensive. If it were a separate program, $400 would still be expensive.🤔 The plugin uses DaVinci and then a price comparison, apart from the features, is absolutely common.
      Compliments for the good and clear review btw. Very nicely and carefully done.👍🏻
