I'd disagree. I went there only a couple of years ago, and it looks like no much has changed.
I was there as a 7 Yr old in 1975.
Very happy memories of Woolacombe in the 1970's, thank you!
Looks much better than now! City folk buying second homes have ruined the place

Hot spots were resident band in 70s. When we went
No dogs allowed on the beach during the high season now ( although you still see a fair few wandering around in bikinis..)
From Keith Jones Christian drummer from Barnstaple, now retired to Cornwall. Ex Mosaic, Patchwork Quilt, Ark, Saltpeter, Flying Fortress, Oggle Band, recorded with various members of Hawkwind, dance bands and Christian bands. Played at Woolacombe over the years with a number of groups. I see in your movie The Narracott Hotel, played there a few times in the l960's a good time for music and for groups. Take Care God Bless (K.J.) Google you tube Saltpeter Sunlight Eyes and Saltpeter Flying Man. Google Keith Jones drummer Bude Cornwall. You can read about North Devon groups in a book by Pat Barrow called Remembering the l960's in North Devon. This book is available in Bideford Library.
