    Hi this was very creepy to watch, i worked there for 2 years as assistant manager, my brother was entertainment manager, and our best friends where the manager, we went there in june 1997, to bring up to cratch, it was owned by an indian family then back in london, we had 6 months to fill it! By xmas, for us to stay and recive a bonus, there were only 5 guests at the time, one drunk chef, a cleaner and 3 young girls, who didnt really know what was happening, anyway it was in poorly state then, we manage to improve it in 3 months, the bar off from the reception was called the tudor bar, that i fid up the pool very different then , and to see the old office, well we filled by xmas fully booked, with 135 guest! It was brilliant great times, for 3 months after, then out of nowhere it was sadly closed, through debtors, it was me and a female left to make sure it was safe from thiefs, no electric, had to use candle, at nite it was spooky as fuck, creeping floor, ect, ANYWAY THANKS FOR VIDEO, BRILLIANT, SO SAD TO SEE IT LIKE THAT!!

    Fascinating. I grew up in Woolacombe in the late 80s and early 90s, and the hotel was always busy. I remember swimming in the pool for a friends birthday party. The orange shades in the balconies always made it an iconic building in Woolacombe, everyone knew which hotel you meant. If you said the Naracott on the other hand, you'd almost always have to say, "no, not the one with the orange shades".

    Back in the mid 60s our family stayed at the then Coombes Hotel owned by the Richard’s. It was only a half of the size back then. In our second year there myself, 4 brothers and sister all contracted chicken pox on the day we arrived. So we were quarantined in our rooms for the first week and had to have our meals brought to us. During the day we had permission to sneak out of the hotel via the fire escape over the newly built swimming pool and pile into the car for a secluded day on the beach. Coombes Hotel was a lovely family-orientated venue and the location and views across the valley and Woolacombe Bay were unforgettable. Quite sad to see it in its abandoned condition. But your exploration brought back some fond memories.

      I'm glad my video reignited your memories , it's a shame it's met it's fate. Maybe one day it will be renovated back to its former glory. Thanks for watching and your comment. 👍🙂

    I worked there on and off during the 90s as a kitchen porter and room cleaner. I remember one year we had a really bad storm with hurricane force winds which ripped off part of the roof and the torrential rain completely flooded the 300s section and the restaurant below. We had to close the hotel for months to repair the damage and was asked to look after the hotel at night for security. It was quite scary being all alone there at night without any electricity. When we finally opened again I ended up being the night porter for a few years before deciding to move to Torquay. This video and footage brings back so many memories. Thanks for uploading this mate. Take care. Regards.

      Shame they closed it down , I saw a few CZcams videos of how it looked before. Nice place to stay and work with those views. I remember it being a fun explore and day out in woolacombe. Thanks for watching.

    This was fascinating, something about abandoned hotels and this is in really good condition too so guessing it hasn’t been vacant all that long. You have such a calming voice by the way lol. There are so many alterations and stairs in there! Great explore!

    Stayed here not long before it closed, it didn’t look too different to that. Watched a comedian in that room with the stage and dart board, there was water dripping from the ceiling. Got chatting to the barman and he said there was only a couple of people trying to maintain it but was hopeful it could be saved. Hasn’t been closed that long believe it or not, certainly not ten years.. One part of the hotel actually looked half decent.
    Tried to explore a bit but couldn’t get to the top floor from memory. The receptionist locked us out one night and wouldn’t answer the phone. We were not amused. Half the staff seemed to hate it the others loved it.

    I stayed there the last year it was opened, it was a shame u can see it used to be nice but the hotel room was damp, and very little money had been spent in years. The food was nice and the pool ok. My daughter was about 5 so closed 6 years ago 2018 I think.

    24 hours after you posted this there were people in there doing some thing, maybe stripping it of metals etc. Multiple police called out late at night trying to catch them. Seems odd it was 24 hours after your upload, I guess thieves keep an eye out for content like this just incase they see an opportunity.

    • @ExploringHabit
      @ExploringHabit  Před 2 lety +4

      @@ExploringHabit Yeah could have just been a coincidence. Did you know there was a room time share scam run at that hotel. The last owners sold 110 future rooms (Saying they where doing up the hotel) for 50k to 80K each & did a runner with the people money. I live close so you'd use that pool for free all the time.

    • @RichieRouge206

      Whether or not he has posted on here, the hotel is in plain view of all and sundry as it is and access is blatantly very easy for anyone so don’t have a pop at him for posting this. There’s countless urbex videos on CZcams where is obvious- especially to locals - where these places are. It is not his responsibility to safeguard the actual property is it?

    • @peacepuffz
      @peacepuffz Před 2 lety

      @@RichieRouge206 I wasn't having a pop I was just telling him that 24 hours later there was a gang in there stripping it and as it turned out they where from the other side of the country so it wouldn't have been in plain site to them.
