  • This is the first in a series of no damage runs of select Robot Master stages from the six NES Mega Man games. I was inspired by Phillip Reed’s (formerly the Save State Gamer) no damage runs but I can’t provide commentary or outtakes as I do not have the technology. I’m playing on the Mega Man Legacy Collection and uploading these to CZcams through my PS4. Because the Legacy Collection only follows MM1-6, I can’t do any other Mega Man games even though I feel confident I could no damage most, if not all, of the Stardroids from Mega Man V for Game Boy.
Ice Man was always my least favourite Robot Master, but, recently, Ice Man has had an increase in popularity for me because I enjoy playing as him in Mega Man Powered Up. His stage is mostly devoid of enemies- any enemies there are are merely a minor nuisance as the Elec Beam/ Thunder Beam makes short work of them- it’s mainly obstacles, such as the disappearing blocks and Foot Holders that are the issue. Fortunately, they can be broken with the Magnet Beam as you see here and most Ice Man playthroughs, I’m sure. I fuck up a little on the first set of disappearing blocks because Mega Man didn’t jump when I told him to. I used the pause trick on the Big Eye and Ice Man himself to ensure a victory because, when I was playing this, I was playing Mega Man casually; I didn’t expect to no damage Ice Man, so I wanted to win. It was beating Ice Man no damage that spurned me on into doing more Robot Masters without damage. Not the cleanest run by a mile, but I have to start somewhere.
I adore Mega Man 1 though, so I’d love to down a few more of the original Robot Masters at some other point as well as possibly redo this one without the Magnet Beam and pause trick. I would love to beat Fire Man as he is my favourite Robot Master, but I need to practise his fight.
