How hard can it be? Yarn Bowl - Wood turning

My first attempt at making a yarn bowl. This one is a leaving gift for a colleague who loves to crochet.
I really like the combination of beech and padauk. The yarn cut out was very tricky and certainly kept my heart rate up! The finished bowl was 175mm x 75mm (Just under 7'' x 3'')

Well done. I just did a yarn bowl and cut the slot with a rotozip tool. The bit is an up cut straight cutting bit. They have a 1/8” shaft and would fit into a Dremel as well. Come back with the Dremel sanding cylinder and your done. Great job.

I am lucky enough to have a laser engraver, so I make them myself on 3mm hardboard.
