PRE horses originated in Spain, where they are known as Pura Raza Española. Over many centuries they were the preferred mount of kings. The Purebred Spanish horse has been used for all manner of riding horses but they have a remarkable talent for high school dressage. These horses are recognised for their long flowing mane, their elegant action and magnificent head carriage. Some people see them as real life fairytale horses.

Why is the height and weight given in inches and pounds. PRE are Spanish horses. In Spain as in the most of Europe they are used to cm and kilo. PS. Still a fantastic video. :-)

we had to make a decision here and since most viewers are coming from the US we decided to use their weight/height units ;) if you want to know the cm/kg units you can find them here www.ehorses.com/buy-horse/pre.html

are PRE horses suitable for older riders who havnt ridden for years and who ride at a basic level?

Personally, I'd say it depends on each horse character and temperament. But probably you can find a PRE which is super friendly and well behaved. Take a look here www.ehorses.com/buy-horse/pre.html

@@ehorsesinternational there is a guy(Matt Harnake) on CZcams who has a gorgeous PRE stallion he wants to sell because it has mobility issues that make it unsuitable for dressage. lovely horse with what appears to be a wonderful temperament. the current owner does not deserve to have him and will shuttle him off to some breeder to recoup his money, because he has no more use as a show horse. buy him and give him a good home.

would a PRE be suitable for eventing and/or something similar to fox hunting? (i'm not interested specifically in fox hunting but that style of cross country riding with jumping is interesting to me).

No not at all. PRE are not jumpers. I don't know why they have that in there

Hard to believe they are terribly adept at jumping since they are not tall and have so much muscle to move.

You are "ehorse *international*" but you use the imperial measure units... which most of the world can't understand...

No one uses inches anywhere. In USA we use hands. Which is even more ridiculous 😅

PRE horses are NOT suitable for jumping as their bones aren’t meant for that and over time they develop joint issues quickly so don’t spread false information

Sorry, no, PRE are not suited to jumping. They are good at trail and dressage.
