    I'm so glad they finally had a successful year. They have just put so much effort into everything, but nature is cruel sometimes.

    Am looking forward to this year's installment!
    I have eastern bluebirds in my backyard nestbox. Their babies fledged last weekend, so we went to clean out the box only to find they're already working on round two! Mama Bluebird must have laid an egg the day after the babies left the nest! I'm really impressed.

    Why didn't you place a bird feeder in the area? This started off cute, but now I'm sad.

  • @LearningZoneLanguages

    It was nice to see these little birds. There are so few of them left.I regularly feed them with sunflower seeds. Make an elongated (vertical) house so that birds of prey do not enter

    To protect a nest box from cats and other predators, you could install sort of a cage without the front wall made of wire mesh around the entrancle hole. This will block anything larger than parent birds from actually getting near the front of the nest box where the hole is. If a bird box is installed on a tree trunk, I believe there are wire cat deterrents available to buy, to put around the trunk below. Still, the latter solution will not protect from i.e. predatory birds or squirrels who could jump from one tree to another.

  • @politenonparticipant4859

    The chick which fell from the nest is returned. He speaks to his siblings. "Yeah, we're gonna need feathers before we leave home. Good thing our neighbor is an angel, else I wouldn't have made it back to tell all of you."

    I love your videos. So informative. I didn’t realise how lack of food for one day could lead to a tragic result. 😢 We currently have a nesting pair of blue tits in a new box near our shed and are worried about cutting the lawn in the next few weeks in case we scare the parents away from the nest. Do you think that us spending time in the garden for an hour and the noise of the mower will put them off returning?

    • @lancehames6228
      @lancehames6228 Před rokem +2

      We had a nesting pair of Bluetits in our small garden, their box was attached to the garden shed, and we carried on as normal, mowing the lawn, watering the plants, and entertaining guests just a few meters from the nest. The birds were unfazed and just carried on rearing their chicks until they all left the nest a few days ago.

    So you intervened to free the mother but couldn’t intervene with a bird feeder? That’s some questionable logic.

      I have bird feeders,,. but they don't feed their chick's peanuts and seeds, and the caterpillars they feed on were sold out at the shops .... So not so questionable logic, but thanks for the concern
