- With Nuts, the third in our Bulge series of books coming out we took the opportunity to lure Wayne and James back to the gaming table. Wayne's Volksgrenadier Company found itself attacking James' Parachute Rifle Company (based around Easy Company).
Would James' resilient Paratroopers manage to hold the town, or would the volume of firepower from the Volksgrenadiers push them out? Watch and see!
To find out more about Nuts, the Siege of Bastogne check out our website at www.flamesofwar.com

I honestly came here just to see how those models look, and they look brilliant. I love the late-war German tones.
@The guys asking why the jagdtiger is a reluctant veteran, only reason I can come up with is that the crews for the big'un were really unfamiliar with it when they went into action the first time, they had very little training, and if you read any of Otto Carius's combat accounts, they actually lost a couple of jagdtigers, purely because the crews panicked, didn't know how they should use the tanks and so on.
Example...they recieved incoming from american tanks, but instead of just reversing out of sight, one crew basically tried to turn their tank and drive away, ofc that just revealed the weaker side armour and the whole crew were killed.
There was also some accounts of German soldiers shooting and destroying Jagdtigers when if first came on to field, most of the soldiers stationed had never seen one and had no idea what it was and just opened fire due to confusion.
What a lovely battle report! Great close-ups of the terrain en miniatures as well. Can't wait for another one!
These battle reports are great! More please!
Would love to see more battle report videos from you guys. A battle report from B@R would be great!
More like this please! really helping to get a grip of the game, love all the vids so far thanks!
Brilliant Bat Rep. More of these please!!!!!!!
awesome batrep! Again... something else to get excited about. Loved it. Good work :)
Fun attractive game played by two good sports. More please!
Great job, guys! This is fun to watch. In particular, I like the dolly shots. Having done a bunch of these myself, I know how time consuming such a simple-seeming thing can be. You're really raising the bar on battle reports! (Curse you, making us all work hard to keep up!) :)
Wow table is really awesome!
Very nice BR! Cheers!
awesome battle report!
Молодцы ребята ! Вот это и есть - хобби по душе !!!!!
Cool battlereport! More please! ... James i know how it feels....Wayne, gute Arbeit Soldat ;-)... Cheers, Patrick
Nice batrep format! Much better than most, esp. with a great looking table and figs
This book is cool, I can recommend it.
Had lots of fun games with the lists inside fighting each other.
Great movie, lovely camera work, which harder than you think :) great terrain too
AA Half-tracks: You are correct, half-ROF for these is 3 for the M16s and 2 for the M15s. I'm pretty sure that's how we played it. Some of the dice rolling scenes are cut.
This gaming video was very unique. The fact Sgt. Willie McClean of the 101st Air Borne Division told me was very unique too. He was standing close enough to General Anthony McAuliffe to hear him say "Bull s***!" As his "first" verbal reply to the nazi's request to surrender. I believed what he told me and few would since those curse words could not be any part of a written reply. His second choice of the word "Nuts" became legendary! When fact goes against legend, print the legend.
Really fun to watch, good job guys, it is nice to see that not only 101st is a winning side in FoW ;)
I played my first game today and now im hooked hoping to get more sets for my b-day
I don't have my rulebook yet (it's in the mail, on the way) but I have a general idea of how the game works. And I very much enjoyed watching this battle report. Not only was the battle good, but the production and direction of the report itself was outstanding! Keep up the good work, guys.
now THAT is how to make a battle report nice!
No you don't need a book if you are using the lists from the open fire booklet but of recommend buying a book that interests you, look at the forces available in that book and go from there!
The front rank were destroyed so the teams left in the street were within 2"/5cm of the building on the other side of the street. The .50cals were fired, didn't do anything, so weren't mentioned, plus they were M18s :)
Nice to see a professional looking video for a Battle Report - the dolly shots, pull focus and cutaways to the talking heads were all really nice and great to hear the player's decisions and objectives turn-by-turn. Along with the Bootcamp videos this should really help new players get into it or even recruit new players (off to send it to a couple of guys at work now!). Also picked up some terrain modelling tips - what was used for the dusting of snow and the snowdrifts?
Good batrep love the fact they made rules for Easy Co. and finally I will have my Jagdtiger although it was pretty much a paperweight in this battle.
cool new objectives
The cover, I believe p, was based of the Machine gun scene in the Battlemof the Bulge in BoB
why didn't the paratrooper platoon in the buildings ever shoot across at the germans?
Chances are they forgot, it happens a lot in wargaming
I wish Bolt Action would do a report this good.
Brock Samson yes i wish that too
I have no idea how to play, but I was wondering if they omitted doing detailed rules explanations in the video for time sake and just focus on results and outcome?
I cant find fow winter germans loose sets anywhere😕
are those purchasable derstroyed markers? they look pretty sick, any ideas where i can aquire some?
Think they made them using static grass or something
I want to start a Wehrmacht army replacing the open fire set what should I get?
Even the greatest Soldiers are not resistent toward bad dices :D
I have been looking for something to use for trees on my bases and what is on some of the Volksgrendadier's bases look perfect. I have tried railroad scenery and my local stores never seem to have the right scale and when I did test bases with cut tree branched it just didn't look right, so does any one happen to know what is used or have some alternate recommendations?
Love the report.
OO god yes Jagtiger ... every boys wet dream...... 1 is all you need LOL very cool lads ty
Where do I can find that Me 262?
PLEASE HELP!!!!!!! How are the SS Panzergrenadier company set up? I want to know so I don't put the wrong guys on the wrong bases.
ha that was a good watch! can u do one for blood, guts and glory?
Ozzies have armies, they are variants on the British empire stuff. They have said they will do pacific theater at some point . Think is alot of stuff like the japnese tanks didn't see service due to the infantry based forces being the most effective due to the terrain.
First off, great video! More of this will do you well, videos like this are great for recruiting new players and fun for veterans like me. I hope to see more like this in the future, maybe product previews?
A bit of a nitpick but, the M18's should have made their platoon morale check earlier when they were hit by the Hetzers. 2 dead & 1 alive = platoon morale check. Maybe you made it but didn't show the roll?
Looking forward to the new Jagdtiger!
Does the Jagdtiger have no turret? also do you have to buy decals separately because I recently brought Open Fire and there weren't any. By the way, Great videos guys get it up!
How are the 2 German guns moving without vehicles to pull them?
I thought according to the rules; A gun cannot move unless TOWED.
Is this correct?
What products did you use?
Awesome game but painfully expensive
This is why I play company of heroes
You can scratchbuild or you can just pick up some minis of the same scale from your local hobby shop then stick 'em onto a square of hobby clay/modelling paste/whatever. It's perfectly fine for FoW and its staff, even in tournaments.
Now, Warhammer on the other hand...
James Haase try collecting Warhammer.
The smoke on those dead tanks looks awesome. How was that made?
I f I want to get a unit online do I need a book for that unit? I already have the open fire but looking to expand. PLEASE HELP!!!
It seems like there was a full rules overlooked. (failed assults move 2 inches back not to where they started) and also half rate of fire when moving not reduced to 1 for AA halftracks. Also the M10's didn't use their .5 cal in defense of the planes. Was this overlooked on purpose?
Nice Battle Report. One of the nicest I have seen so far. Beautiful table and miniature. This motivates me to do some more of my Russian Army. :)
wrong:SHUTZEN = right:SCHÜTZEN
A star is born barbara
When does that Church come out as part of the new limited building line?!?!? WANT!
it depends on what type of gun it is heavy ones need to be towed but lighter ones can be hand moved
Ditto the comment by Nefarazo. I've played both and much prefer FoW. Not only does it look good when done right, but the rules are smoother and more in depth. The only negative to FoW over AA is that perhaps the individual armies of FoW are a bit more expensive. Rules-wise though, FoW beats the pants off of AA
Yea correct the men can push the lighter ones essentially and you need a tow for heavy guns
You go through all the effort to make it look like a HO scale train Diorama, you might as well fixate everything so most of the stuff is permanent and add in a train.I don't play this game but the figures look enticing for my HO scale layout scene.
its not for trains though, its for tiny metal men to kill each other on
I've played the cut-down A&A version 1942, and the problem is that the games of A&A are very complicated rules-wise, making it impossible to "just play" with friends, as maybe 1 hour or more will go with getting used to the rules. Playing several times with the same people will get repetitious, and you won't want continue. FoW offers more rules, but also simplicity in that you aren't running a country or an invasion, just fighting one battle, that can vary indefinitely. I prefer FoW.
Super jeux ^^
Despite the fact that I play Germans I wanted the American player to win but I found it so hard after awhile when watching all his tactical errors. I face palmed when he moved those AA half tracks towards the Hetzers.
What is this scale looks great?
You should do a grey wolf and red bear battle report
Love the batrep, the scenery, terrain and table made it very enjoyable for me. Where/who makes the church?
Battlefront
why are we not funding this?
this is a pretty cool game . Does anybody have any vids of someone using the French?
Clearly the Americans had 'Foxhole Norman' as their Company commander...
You guys should make more batreps like this. For V4 especially. Team yankee batreps are also welcome.
Love you guys up at battlefront but please do some independent retailers that would be beutiful and if you do make sure its in toronto ontario Canada please and keep up the good work and projects!
Dice beat tactics!
Dude..... don't tease the Dice gods..... Because that's what happens! 3+ with a re-roll.... 2, and 2..... Don't tease them :P
lol nice to know that even the FOW staff make rules mistakes. The US machine gun team didn't need to take a "Last Man Standing test" as he is a gun team, and gun teams don't take this test =)
I wonder why flames of war haven't create the pacific battles. it would be great if they can release australian and japanese army isn't it?
1:30 Assault platoon is spelled wrong.
To the german commander, NUTS!
well i think this batrep was more supposed to showcase the new stuff in the NUTS! book.
I think he could have done a few things better, namely have the arty on the board right away... arty needs to fire the entire game to not be pointless... and make the hellcats count a bit more. this really isn't how FoW games normally play out ^^
if you could Number your videos, I like to Watch them in order.
Heey people from flames of war could you make a Gebirgsjäger troop?
Oke didnt see
Great batrep.
I just don't get James' strategy. Just doing nothing and waiting for the enemy to roll up your defences just doesn't seem to work. I never played FOW, but if this is the way it's supposed to be played, it puts me off.
Artillery out of reserve? Not that smart should've used that massive long-range firepower
yes that is true, but the japanese have zero fighter, and their guns and uniform are unique. I really like the ambiance of pacific battle, but well european battle also great. haha. just wondering why in 10 years of business battlefront don't produce them, it will be selling point for them :)
Well, you couldnt have tried to roll worse anyway. That is impossible, trying to roll a certain result on dice.
looks amazing (as a WH40K player) just wouldn't know how to get started with it seeing as here in Holland we haven't got dedicated stores for FoW like GW has for 40k.
+Schyzofrenic87 i know the feeling, ive been looking at FOW for like 2 years but something is holding me back. the lack of a store near by with staff that know the game
+Patrick Millar here too, we need to persuade them to invest in FOW by showing this video
+Schyzofrenic87 My god the only battle front store you can find on google maps is in Delaware!
you might be able to order them online www.flamesofwar.com/ they have an order online section tho I'm not sure where they deliver to.
what excatly do you need a store for? miniatures are available everywhere and rules, markers etc can be bought online
HELLCATS
6 to 1? This was a slaughter. No storm trooper rolls for the US, no substantial armor, no air cover, and then losing your AA cover that should have stayed back to guard the hill/arty... yes, there was bad luck, but what was that platoon on the hill doing other than taking strafing runs? Ugh...
*insert Family Guy joke here*
Why is the JagdTiger a reluctant veteran?
Being in what practically is the most MASSIVE tank in the war must at least inspire your crew to kick some ass.
These battlr re
yea that really was crappy rolling of the dice! more like dropping the dice on the table, how about next time you actually ROLL the dice not just drop them on the table!
