Thanks for this very much. I'm still interested in knowing what the hand signals meant in shows like "Band of Brothers" which denoted "Take two men, go up to the top of that ridge and watch for Germans," etc. They were very involved and fast.
I may be three years late and if you're actually looking for practical information consult someone else but I think a good idea for this would be 1. point at who you're ordering to designate it's them 2. hold up the number 2 with your fingers 3. point to the area they're going (not an actual point, same kind of flat hand you use for most things) 4. "observe" hand signal, I don't know what the army uses but I've seen swat tend to use putting your index and middle finger under each eye but this can also mean "see" or "I see"

Bahahahaha @ ROTC. The girl scout equivelent of playing army! When I was in real army basic I remember rotc summer camp girls watching is go through the CS chamber to see how it effected us. This is why SOLDIERS go to NCOs before butter bars. Rotc... the airsoft of military service!

Because in theory your dominate hand is on your weapon system. You want to always use your non firing hand when communicating signals or other info.
