The games the D.I. loved to play.

The whole purpose of this is to teach recruits to focus under pressure. Anyone getting ready to enlist, the first mistake you make is focusing on the fact you're being yelled at by multiple drill instructors. Place all of your focus on what they're telling you to do, and do the best you can to execute their instructions. They will purposely tell you the wrong thing to do, my drill instructors offered my cookies. We all know what would have happened if I took them! That's half the battle. If you're not good under pressure, the Marine Corps is not the ideal branch, unless you can overcome it.
I remember my drill instructor made us go into corners in the squad Bay and told us we had to yell and sound like dying giraffes I don't know what a dying giraffe sounded like but I made the weirdest noise I could figure out and we had to do that for like 10 minutes straight just screaming and sounding like dying giraffes 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
So many of the faces in the crowd say "oh damn, why are you doing this child" and then 1:58 you've got that one man on the left in green with the most priceless smirk on his face. Also I wonder. I've never seen it before, but I wonder if any of the poolees ever get to this experience and say "yknow what, maybe I will drop from the DEP, fuck this" and walk while this is going on. I mean I've seen dudes run from MEPS, and even give up during boot or SOI. It has to happen right? Where some poolee just about faces and bails in front of a DI once in a blue moon? Just statistically speaking
I'm sure it does happen. They get a little taste like this and figure it'll get worse. Hell, there were recruits that refused to take a piss test on the Island. Refusals to train which brought the MP's. Saw one recruit kill himself by jumping off the 3rd floor and landing on his head. Broke his neck instantly. Every Marine who's been to either Depot has a shit ton of stories. So poolees will drop for sure.

So my brother was in a separate platoon but we would always see each other at obstacles and mcmap stuff like that. So when we were in line to rappel naturally we are trying to talk to each other he’s standing behind me in front talking and he turns around to look at me and say something and this pretty much happened, after that the DIs knew we were brothers and played with us both, we hid it for so long 😩

I got a taste of that in the Air Force in '98 in San Antonio Texas but not to that extreme.
My entire time at the Depot I only saw one DI with portholes. They are a very rare breed
