Absolutely brilliant! My favourite Rose Royce track, and one of the very best songs of the disco era. I cannot believe how few 'likes' this has. Gwen Dickey could sing!
There was SERIOUS competition during that time. Just think about it: Earth Wind and Fire The Emotions Rufus featuring Chaka Khan Michael Jackson The Isley Brothers Tower of Power The BeeGees Donna Summer The Average White Band etc.,etc Still, every dance party I went to the Rose Royce "In Full Bloom" album was there. Rose Royce was right there among those music 'Heavyweights'.
Everything about this is just perfection, the song ,the group, the outfits, the dance routine, the singer. I know every generation says it but............
Possibly one of the greatest disco tracks of its time and when you’ve danced to this track as a teenager then you’ll appreciate where I’m coming from . . I’m 64 now and I’m so glad I lived through this fantastic decade of superb music.
Quite possibly the greatest intro/build up ever - brings everything in layer by layer: electronica, brass, strings etc. This stuff will never be matched.
I had to give you a 'like', just for your handle alone. The 1970's are arguably the best decade of music that I have ever heard. It's really sad this quality of music didn't make it pass the early 1980's.
The Rolls Royce of disco! If you don't fall in love with this track you don't like the 70s soundscape. Timeless and infectious, just love that rythmn and funkalicious intro . What a group! My childhood soundtrack
I know exactly what you mean. Just check her out performing “Car Wash” with the band on Soul Train, she really had the moves! So sad about her accident in 2010 but she’s obviously a fighter & still performs to this day.
I would walk into the local club (Disco) and the DJ (“Spike” who later became a radio show host in Australia) and he would play this tune with “Good evening Mr Dormer. This one’s for you”. I felt like a million dollars. Thanks man.
I love this song.I bought it as a single when it came out,out of my pocket money .Gwens vocals are utterly beautiful with those heart felt lyrics. The whole band were superb and a blessing. She was a pretty woman baby!
The wired thing was one of their other hits become a hit again in remix form. The Song was car wash. Is it love you after was on the b side of it the year was 88or 89.
Ladislaus Bonita amazing how a song that came out in 1976 that being car wash and the movie also is confusing so many people think it came out in the 80's
Is it love you're after wasn't on the b side of Car Wash ( water was the b-side or the long version or Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is ) Is It love you're after is from 1979 , Car Wash from 1976.
A truly sublime disco moment. Obviously, this is totally brilliant, wonderful and heavenly, all together and many times over. It really kicks as well. Now, where did I put that sampler of mine ...
Absolutely brilliant! My favourite Rose Royce track, and one of the very best songs of the disco era. I cannot believe how few 'likes' this has. Gwen Dickey could sing!
👌
Because most of we black baby boomers are almost gone
There was SERIOUS competition during that time.
Just think about it:
Earth Wind and Fire
The Emotions
Rufus featuring Chaka Khan
Michael Jackson
The Isley Brothers
Tower of Power
The BeeGees
Donna Summer
The Average White Band
etc.,etc
Still, every dance party I went to the Rose Royce "In Full Bloom" album was there.
Rose Royce was right there among those music 'Heavyweights'.
@@martyemmons1859 And Diana Ross. Even The Rolling Stones got in on the act with 'Miss You'.
If you're listening to this right now rest easy, you have impeccable taste.
Positive energy music... could listen to this jewel for hours !
Everything about this is just perfection, the song ,the group, the outfits, the dance routine, the singer. I know every generation says it but............
Except we're not all in the audience watching them live right now - but I suppose you can't have everything ...
Soundtrack of a better world and time. The 1970s were full of life and creativity.
2023 just had the privilege to see Gwen Dickey arrive on the stage and still melt my heart with a voice from heaven Rolls Royce what a group
Possibly one of the greatest disco tracks of its time and when you’ve danced to this track as a teenager then you’ll appreciate where I’m coming from . . I’m 64 now and I’m so glad I lived through this fantastic decade of superb music.
Disco sounds better quietly sitted on a sofa 😂😂😂
Me too.
Quite possibly the greatest intro/build up ever - brings everything in layer by layer: electronica, brass, strings etc. This stuff will never be matched.
100% correct....truly incredible sound....with orchestration too......what an amazing time we had back in 1978...I was 20
Do you not feel the intro owes a nod to Isaac Hayes, Theme from Shaft?
Doesn't beat Barry Whites, "Loves Theme"...no way !!...but yes, awesome.
David Price it’s the best dance track ...ever ❣️
@@mikemcnulty520 I do, Mike - good shout. There's a generic sound there but - for me - this is the better rendition.
Gwen Dickey sings and looks like an angel.....Killer tune....Amazing arrangement ! ...
yeah so gorgeous and sexy
Wait!
Is her name not Rose Royce?
@@APH1991 That's her real name and I think Rose Royce is the band's name.
This is fantastic. Love their costumes, dancing, the horns, her voice and smile.
Rose Royce were my guilty secret when I was a punk.
Me too. I was 18 when this was out... amazing😊
Nice one fella
Absolute class, unfortunately, we will never hear class again
Theme from S'express is (sort of) a cover and totally banging. Listen to it, Geoff.👍 Sort of like " Everything's gone green" is a cover of "A Forest".
best intro to a song EVER
The rest of it ain’t bad either!
Zaaaligggg
Everything about this song is just brilliant
I actually get goosebumps whenever I hear this!!!
it does that to me.
Me too
That intro has got to be one of the best ever. Fantastic track by a real class act - and don't get me started on the dancing ... Fab 💜
you know its also used in S'Express Theme
@@MrTruth111 I heard S'Express first when I was 14, but later on discovered the original. Just as good in it's own way.
There is no end to the brilliance of this song.
Andrew Martin go to 3.51
Proper group, real musicians playing real instruments and the fabulous Gwen in the middle of it all looking like she's in charge and she surely is.
I had to give you a 'like', just for your handle alone. The 1970's are arguably the best decade of music that I have ever heard. It's really sad this quality of music didn't make it pass the early 1980's.
Enjoy this trip.

This woman's voice always brings a tear and a smile on my face at the same time. Tears of memories and a smile out of sweetness.... Have a nice day!
thats Gwenn Dickie...still performs...angel`s voice for sure!
@@fritshits65 Totally agree with you. So talented and beautiful, she is a master of her craft.
@@fritshits65No, not.
@@mattilatvala4164 100% sure , last album she was on ( Rainbow Connection 4 ) and its where this song comes from. Its definitely Gwen doing the vocals
@@fritshits65 Sorry I mixed the names. The next one was named Ricci. Dickie is best. I felt sooo old when I saw Dickie's recent performance.
This group recorded some gems.
Well said that man pure brilliance proper take me back happy days
Ups! I never have heard this song before, now i know the origins of S Xpress of the 80S one of my favorite songs
God I love Gwen Dicky, the original and best female singer with Rose Royce, thank god I was young in the 60's and 70's, Gwrn was so beautiful ❤❤

Outstanding tune rose royce
Obviously THE PROGRAM needs to continue.
Such a wonderful track, and if it were not for Rose Royce, S'Express would not have made the greatest house track of all time.
Fantastic song I loved it when it came out & still do.
The intro is terrific, I bet someone in the future will sampl... oh wait.
Simply a classic and timeless.
Gwen Dickey is simply gorgeous here. I had the hots for her back when this came out. What red bloodied man wouldn’t have? 😊
I know exactly what you mean. Just check her out performing “Car Wash” with the band on Soul Train, she really had the moves! So sad about her accident in 2010 but she’s obviously a fighter & still performs to this day.

One of the best horn cuts ever, used by everybody; s'express does it best!
Oh how I loved this song as young UK teen. Songs like this cemented my love of lavish soulful productions from the states.
I would walk into the local club (Disco) and the DJ (“Spike” who later became a radio show host in Australia) and he would play this tune with “Good evening Mr Dormer. This one’s for you”. I felt like a million dollars. Thanks man.
TIMELESS CLASSIC

Time capsule music
Defining track of the disco era; dance floor filler sung by a gorgeous girl with a great voice.

Great stuff! I just want something real when it all goes down! Like this era we live in.42 years after this classic.
Big tune. I love the horns. "Theme from S-Express" I knew since 1989 or so, but never knew it sampled this bomb.
The wired thing was one of their other hits become a hit again in remix form. The Song was car wash. Is it love you after was on the b side of it the year was 88or 89.
S-express high school 4 me
Ladislaus Bonita amazing how a song that came out in 1976 that being car wash and the movie also is confusing so many people think it came out in the 80's

Apparently S-Express spent years trying to pay off all the royalties they owed for sampling this song!
Great song, and... an Oberheim 4-voice.... wow!
Would dance to this in Tiffany’s aged 17. Happy happy days
LEGEND💪🇬🇧😎
Brilliant !!!! ❤
To the youth of today this is what real music sounds like and is good for the ears quality tune.
This song and all the bands dancing antics always makes me smile 😁 GWEN is the icing on the cake , STUNNING !
The background footwork & coloured suits are fantastic!
Takes me back to weekends in Clackton early 80’s, £10 B and B. Happy days!!!!
Pure class. An era of great music in which Rose Royce (and Chic) stood out.
Sister sledge?
