One of the greatest MLS games I've ever watched. This finals kept me on the edge of my seat. Seeing the stadium erupt when Gareth Bale tied the game gave me chills. Incredible job by both squads and congrats to LAFC.

It was like the MLS equivalent of the Broncos Ravens playoff game in 2013. You didn't know who was going to win at the end.
What a great story. Bale contributing and winning a chip on his MLS debut season. Keeper gets a red and the backup comes up clutch and wins MVP.
The back and forth, punch for punch scoring. LAFC winning a nail-biter at home is the cherry on top.

Being a Nigerian and a passionate EPL follower and Arsenal lover, I love what the MLS is becoming. It used to be retirement football but it's changing now. I see the packed stadium and I must say hats off to the organizers of the league. I see a lot of Americans being interested in the real football (your soccer) and I am very much impressed and happy too. It's still a long way from NFL (which I have also grown to follow) but it's headed in the right direction.
MLS is now a sellers league than a retirement league. They sell a lot of young talent to Europe as of late. Cheers.

Wow! What a game! The greatest MLS game in history! Two of the best teams in the league squaring off in a back and forth affair. This could be equivalent to the NFL's 1958 championship game between the Colts and Giants if the MLS plays their cards right.

Those who bash MLS are just bitter and don't know any better. Usually stuck in the past. But this is the MLS of today and moving forward. So much passion and drama. To all who loves football, it doesn't matter where you're from. We welcome you to our league. CONGRATULATIONS LAFC and thank you for giving us a great football final to remember. And lastly, to all Union fans. I see nothing but class acts in the comment section. Well done to you all and keep your head up, because next, we have the Champions League. Make MLS proud. I'm such a passionate fan of the sport in this country and this league. I love seeing the growth. MLS has so much potential and for these 2 teams to put on a show like this for the world to see makes me so happy.

I don't even know what to say. Everyone thought Philadelphia had won it. But Bale showed why Lafc signed him with that insane header and the death. You could see the stadium erupt. Hands down greatest game in MLS history. As an Atlanta United fan congratulations to Lafc, I was at MLS Cup 2018, so I know what their fans are going through. As for Philadelphia, you guys put so much work into this season but fell just short, but there's always next season.
Philadelphia could've won it if the refs had been 100% fair... heck lafc wouldn't of been in the final if the refs were fair during the Austin vs lafc game
The Union are definitely done for awhile. Definitely some of their best players such as Wagnar and Blake will probably be leaving this season. Different year, same mistakes.

We will see him at the WC. Wales together with Poland are easily the weakest Euro teams, whilst England is the weakest pot 1 team. And USA is a horrible away team. It's going to be an interesting group.

This was by far the BEST MLS Cup Final ever played. So much drama that I was on pins and needles throughout the game. It's gonna be VERY difficult to top this one!

@@timeStat it was in LAFC home because they were the higher seeded team and i didnt see any ref advantage it was pretty fair people only complain about the ref when their team loses but since LAFC won because they clutched it people need to find something even though LAFC was the team that got a red card and had to change its goalie

hey man i never watch mls but i’m aware of the playoffs, east and west conference all that stuff and I see so many LA fans (seems they played in their stadium ) but why is the final not played in a neutral stadium ?
@@adamziet7826 It used to be neutral in a pre-determined stadium each year. But they changed it in 2013 to be hosted by the team in the final with the best regular season record. That year the Galaxy were already set to host and they made it to the final. The atmosphere was so great compared to previous finals that the league changed it. Honestly, its a great call. The only team GUARANTEED to have home field advantage in the final is the team with the best season record (the champ in most other leagues). But you still have to win two playoff games to get to the final as the #1 seed...
@@adamziet7826 basically there is a supporters shield for the team with the most points at the end of the season for each confrence combined. Basically the winner. They get to play all matches at home no matter what even the final.
@@adamziet7826 they have to make the regular season mean something. Even the award for best regular season record, the Supporters Shield, is basically meaningless because they no longer play a balanced schedule.
@Frankie Five Angels it’s too bad that they started out that way because it gives an unfair advantage in the tournament, I know I am bias but I still think European way where instead of a tournament just winning the league is better and having a tournament separate from the league somehow, even though just with the way the mls started it’s impossible for them to try and change that now

One of the most entertaining leagues there. Not so tactical, many times there is more speed than thinking but it makes this league entertaining.
3-3, 2 overtimes, a rare goalie switch, and penalty kicks. One of the most entertaining games I have watched in a very long time.
I’m English and have probably only watched about 2 MLS games in my life but this game was amazing and a great advert for your league. Still a long way to go but one of the most dramatic finals I’ve seen in a long time
Not every game can bring us the sheer quality of a 0-0 between Fulham and Everton but we do our best over here
Yea when I want quality, I watch the prem. When I want entertainment, I watch mls. Very different styles of play, but both so fun to watch.

At the moment, it's a question of evaluating why the average fan loves sport. Is it to watch the best possible product, or to watch the most compelling drama? The two are frequently mutually exclusive.
There have been 14 MLS Cup champions in the last 16 years. This year's champion didn't exist six years ago. In Europe, every league has a small nucleus of contenders who win every year. How many consecutive BL championships have Bayern won? When was the last time a club NOT named Celtic or Rangers won the Scottish league? (Disclosure: I'm a die hard Celtic fan).
The league (MLS) is high scoring. It is dramatic. Impossible comebacks are fairly common. And due to the league and season structure, a mid table, or even lower half side may remain in the championship picture very late in the season. For the record, when following MLS, the best story lines are top and mid table. At the top, they are vying for the Supporters Shield. Anywhere near mid table, they're angling for playoff position for the MLS Cup.
Finally, there's a decent incentive for Europeans to follow MLS... We sell you our players by the bushel. What British fan WOULDN'T want to contact his club's board, demanding they make an offer for someone you've seen?

I try to explain to my American friends what it is that differentiates this game from all the others. America finally has a game with it all. Those last-minute low-to-high emotions are just not there for any other sport. LOVED seeing this. Amazing, and watching Bale come on and do his thing is the cherry on the cake.

Same, moved to the US from India and I got to say MLS has gotten so much better. This final was super electrifying, even though I couldn't be there at the stadium.
Philly coming from behind, Crepeau breaking his leg to save a sure goal, Defender of the year scoring two goals, bale dunks on that same defender for a 128 minute equalizer, and to top it all off the goalie that was subbed in blocks 2 penalties. Fucking scenes

As a European, I was waiting and waiting till the mls cup final started and it definitely didn't disappoint. I love seeing America become better and better at football and love to see LAFC win on penalties. That was honestly the greatest MLS game I've ever seen. It went back and forth, the crowd was going crazy. I know everyone talks about the Bale goal, but give huge credit to Palacios who almost lost the ball out of bounds, but ran it down and hit it towards net for the Bale goal. That was such an underrated play.

This is my 4th MLS final I've watched and this is the best one I've seen so far and I'm an Atlanta United fan who saw their final with my own eyes. It doesn't come close to this!
I know it’s sacrilege but I lowkey have always wished the EPL and other big European league titles came down to a playoff game. Nothing beats the thrill of a winner take all game

I had to come just to read the comments on this game. This was such a rollercoaster. I wanted to see Philadelphia win bc I watched their semi game. These two clubs have garnered such big followings from their supporters, it’s beautiful. I did see some soft fouls but don’t think this game came down to the refs. Both teams answered big-time in all the big moments. I think Philly got in a negative mindset after their first kicker slipped. No one deserved to lose that game. Hope the Union can find peace and satisfaction after such an amazing performance and season. MLS definitely seems way better now than 10 years ago.
