    • @flywiththeguys
      @flywiththeguys  Před 2 lety +2

      I typically do, but depending on what I'm doing I will turn them off. My general rule is set them and for get them, especially if I'm single pilot. I don't like getting distracted by them. If one stop working I have a personal limit of just hitting the record button once to get it to work. If it doesn't I just leave it alone. If I have a passenger I usually have them fiddle with the cameras if I need them turned on or off OR if there's a problem. It's all about safety and stages of flight.

  • @riquelaboissiere
    @riquelaboissiere Před 2 lety

    I recorded an outside footage with my GoPro 360 max but the editing part is so frustrating. I got an hour long 360 5.6k footage with 32gb file size and in the editing it doesn’t even look like 720p quality. Plus they create 10 different .360 files which I have to reframe individually but at the stitching points between them I can’t figure out exactly where the last frame was, which makes it impossible to have a full length video with quality.

    • @flywiththeguys
      @flywiththeguys  Před 2 lety

      Yep. I had a 360 camera and sold it after 2 shoots. Drove me crazy. To get the best quality you need to use the GoPro software to create your shot, Then export it. When I was doing this I couldn’t change the file type so it exported huge files. I compressed those with my video software and THEN used that file in my video timeline.

    • @flywiththeguys
      @flywiththeguys  Před 3 lety +1

      If you're just trying to mount a go pro, a lot of owners are cool with a mount there. They're just GoPro mounts with a 3M adhesive sticky tape (comes pre attached). If you want just the tape, auto parts stores have it as well. Generally used to attach trip pieces to the car.

    • @flywiththeguys
      @flywiththeguys  Před rokem

      I don't have any good reason for this outside my own experience, which is similar. On the ground everything works, but at speed connection is lost on cameras exterior the plane. Similar, I cant run my cameras off external batteries in the plane, but I can on the ground. The only thing I can think of is some kind of electrical interference with the engine and other transmitters when flying or at higher RPM. One device I had would fail it's connection on take off, touch and gos, and landings when I was physically on the runway at speed. Once airborne it came back online.
      For external mounts I would just set them to record and review the footage. You could also try another brand camera.

    • @flywiththeguys
      @flywiththeguys  Před 3 lety

      Nope! The 5-7 have the same body shape so the aftermarket for it is fantastic. The 8 was slightly different, and the 9 was drastically different so non of the previous cages and resources worked. BUT, between the 7,8, and 9 the quality difference wasn't noticeable. • @flywiththeguys
      @flywiththeguys  Před 3 lety +1

      Thats a tough one. I know people like Trent Palmer will land, setup cameras, take off, and land again. Or have one of his buddy's do it. If you want to record a takeoff and landing but not the trip to the destination, you can connect your cameras to your phone to start and stop recordings. This will put them into a low power state for the trip. Other alternatives are external battery packs, but then you're running into adding additional weight and bulk to the camera. You could always fish a power adapter to it, but then you'll need a mechanic sign off.
