- Could you imagine living year round on a man made reed floating island?!
These people originated from the lands near Puno, Peru, but in the 1450s the Incan empire came to battle. Instead of fighting the Uros people fled to the water and over the years learned how to make their own floating homes from reeds!
Great video Michael. Very informative. Amazing story. No, I could not live on a floating reed island. Thanks for sharing.
Cathy Bruce-Hayter thanks very much! Yeah that would be so hard hey
In the past if you had an argument with your neighbour they would cut them off from the island and let then drift to another one. Great video, and nice to see your take on the island.👍
DC Allan that would be scary haha! Thank you, I’m happy you enjoyed it!

I am making a 300 foot by 300 foot floating island like this floating on plastic 55 gallon barrel drums and ibc totes held together by aluminum welded frames. Then putting pond liner tarp and soil - grass and compost down as walking ground food for herbivores (meat- egg- milk- cheese producing animals that eat grass) and to grow fruit and vegetable gardens.
