Me. And I am old enough to remember my parent obsessively watching the OJ trial and thinking they were nuts for paying attention to that but here I am being the same. Of course that was a murder trial so I am not equating the two.

I’m rewatching this after having seen Amber Heard’s talk on the stand. Omg. This psychiatrist seriously nailed her so clearly. She DOES use flowery words and switch emotions like whiplash. “What just happened? What was just said?” Is exactly how I felt after Heard’s embarrassing performance.

My mom was BPD so i know what that looks like but had no experience with HPD and found it tricky to imagine. I watched Amber testify and was left thinking, “Omg, THAT’S what Dr. Curry was describing.”
All that pseudo-sobbing, the exaggerated imagery with little real information actually given, and the retelling of events casting herself as an angel was just staggering. It fits perfectly.
@@horkusone "Casting" is right. The way she recounted events came off like I was watching some theatrical performance. Even down to her conveying how she fixated on the details of floors in the midst of a traumatic, fight-or-flight experience, like she all of a sudden is taken to being poetic.

I find it fascinating that AH was blatantly told how she would act by Dr. Curry. And yet, AH couldn't help herself which confirmed the doctor's diagnosis for the jury.
That's what BPD does. The person believes they are always right no matter what. Truth be darned, I'm gonna say whatever it takes.

Yes if they would have got Doctor after Amber then everyone would be like she is just summaries the info she got from Amber's testimony...but since they got docror before Amber..they couldn't say that...and its obviously not on Amber's favour to go with what the Doctor said..but still she showcased all the stuff doctor said..so it simply proves that the doctor is absolutely right on her personality issues

Exactly! I love when Amber’s lawyer started asking questions and instead of answering yes or no like they wanted she would say “that’s not quite right” it was obvious that the defense was trying to question her credibility and trying to,i guess,cut questions to make them sound different than what they really were. She handled herself so well and didn’t fall for their tricks.

Stuttering has nothing to do with a person's professionalism or overall intelligence. There are a multitude of famous and successful people that have/had a stuttering speech impairment.
Stuttering can be caused by many things and doesn’t have to indicate lack of confidence.
She's hired by Johnny. We will see a similar expert saying the complete opposite from team Amber.
“They might mimic the way they dress”. Wow, this testimony peeled off so many layers in a relatively short amount of time. It’s the most relevant essence that is pertinent to all the issues that Heard’s defense tried to skew. If anyone had any doubts at any point, or felt confused by the gaslighting techniques of heard’s defense, this woman addressed them all and straightened them back up for us. I consider the case closed.
I just followed this hearing. Did Amber mimic Johnny before or after the psychologist's testimony?
@@lucidrifter it was before, in the earlier days of the testimony. You can type into CZcams “Amber heard copying Johnny depp’s clothes” and so many videos will pop up showing just how much she’s tried to copy his outfits, even his hairstyles at one point, I think. I think it started out by her copying the outfit where he wears a suit with a tie from a specific brand, and she got a tie from the exact same brand and copied the rest of the outfit too. That’s not the only outfit either. It’s very creepy stuff but people immediately picked up on what she was doing.

May I ask your opinion? Do you think that Amber Heard being diagnosed by one (as far as I know) psychologist with BPD makes her automatically guilty of faking her testimony? I'm just curious for your professional opinion because there are a lot of commenters here that seem biased to some stereotype of people diagnosed with personality disorders.

@@zachbraxton1997 actually in a trail by jury, you are speaking on objective not subjective, facts vs opinions, as a witness that holds facts they are giving context to facts for the jury to consider in creating an informed objective decision.
@@Dr.S_G that's based on the assumption that the witness doesn't have nefarious intentions or isn't lying. Witnesses are not automatically credible just because they are a "witness". It's the lawyers job to expose what the real facts are from the witness.
@@zachbraxton1997 actually as a psychiatrist I can tell you forensic psychologists and psychiatrists are facts based on the evidence. We took an oath, and everything she said I agree with, from her mannerisms and how she behaves.
Her career is going to skyrocket after this and so it should, she is absolutely professional and worthy of any success in her future.

I went so far down this trial rabbit hole recently, I even looked at her practice site which is based in Newport Beach, and wow, really top notch site, I even downloaded her press kit, lol
This is true. She is actually a very good therapist... She actually took the time and not only explained but went into extreme detail in MH disorders!!
I feel, just based on what she's explained at the beginning of her testimony, that she's already gained high success. That's probably why she was chosen to do this trial.

Narcissistic personality disorder is completely separate from borderline. Narcissist are way worse as the don't have emotions at all. She is the total opposite full of emotions that she can't control.

they never said she was a narcissist... the whole testimony is talking about what she is diagnosed with, histrionic and borderline personality disorder.
Yup. This...was a death blow, & I'd bet she's busy scribbling her plan to take this lady down...then out.
This also helps her in a way that she won't be put to jail for domestic violence because there is a possibility that she has a disorder as portrayed.
I recommend people go watch Amber Heard's Testimony then come back and review this.
Dr. Curry was pretty much bloody spot on in her Analysis.

@JTM Agreed. It's because that 500+ test is amazing at finding unconscious discrepancies in someone's thinking. Plus, it's obvious Dr. Curry is very well schooled on psychiatric issues. She nailed it.
expert witnesses charge $2000 to $4000 an HOUR to do court. you would hope they all do
She can’t sit still because she’s uncomfortable that this professional doctor is picking her apart and exposing her true vulnerabilities. She’s shifty because she really wants to storm out but she can’t show her true colors in court.
Her body language is so telling in this video. At 27:00 when the doctor says “Amber struck her in the face… out of the blue”, Amber only makes a face at the second half. Like she’s thinking, “actually there was a reason”
This is the most reactive I've seen her so far, she was aggressively taking notes for this and could not control her features. I agree, she totally wanted to object and disagree to this.
Storm out of the court definitely isn't what she wanted to do. As the psychologist said, and as we've seen in the evidence shown in this case, she most likely wanted to get up and yell in Mrs Curry's face or start an actual physical fight with Mrs Curry.
I think they gave her a pen and paper and said, "pretend to take notes if you can't hide your feelings"

I love that they just let her speak. She absolutly took the room by storm and everybody was just listening.
The way she talks about how people with BPD have short term relationships, and you see how Amber changed assistants and friends after 6 months, and then you see Johnny keeping employees and friends for over a decade.
Her relationship with Tasha lasted like 3 years.

I love how clear it is that she does really love her job. She explained everything into deep detail without over explaining, this isn’t a dig at the people have spoken during this trial at all but she is so well spoken and articulate it’s so pleasant to the ear.
She's probably going to have people queuing up to put her on TV. As long as she stays away from politics, we can all carry on liking her lol.

She testified she was contacted by Camile Vasquez who is in the same town as Dr. Curry. That Dr. Curry works with alot of attorneys there. So it seems Camille asked around. Then she was interviewed by Johnny's Legal Team (Waldman, Chew & Vasquez) at Johnny's House because he's pretty much housebound due to his Celebrity level.
Watching this after Amber's testification seeing how she acted (literally, "acted") and spoke, is showing how good of a psychologist Dr Curry is. Meanwhile Dr Hughes merely retold as a fact what Amber said to her which is probably all lies
Still can't believe Dr Hughes just repeated what amber told her, you're supposed to examine someone and decipher the bs they tell you. She was insane. Not as bad as their male doctor, but still bad.

I'm fully aware her name wasn't pulled out of a hat and she has the credentials to be in this position, I'm simply stating that she's excelling and even when faced with lawyers that are trying to change the direction of the narrative, she calmly corrects it. Very classy and well spoken, we need more of that.
I want everyone to remember Amber's BPD and HPD diagnosis is not an EXCUSE to her behavior. It is simply an explanation. A lot of people get excuses and explanations confused as the same. Amber's behavior will NEVER be excused.

The way Dr. Curry describes Amber’s psychology definitely upsets her ego. You can tell it’s making her more angry that someone can see through her and she’s been figured out. She can’t even look at Dr. Curry. Also glad to have Dr. Curry in this case who’s upbeat and seems genuinely and extremely well educated. Hopefully young women will take inspiration to Dr. Curry and not let women like Amber bring them down.

Amber’s display of complete disinterest while being very animated about the way she is writing down notes, shows her disrespect and dismissive disdain for this witness. Her actions show some of the traits the Doctor has been describing.
If you think about it, someone with a personality disorder that makes them "feel empty if they are not the center of attention", marrying someone like Johnny Depp, who has the charisma to naturally be the center of attention in any room that he is in, was just a disastrous combination.

If you watch Amber through this trial, she's moved, squirmed, blushed, made faces and acted more guilty in this hour than all the rest of the trial. Ouch.

I have Borderline Personality Disorder and have been in treatment for many years. The emotional instability is exhausting for me to live inside my body. The best way to describe the consistent and sometimes extreme mood changes is like Waves of the ocean. Sometimes the waves are calm and far apart and other times the waves are huge and in rapid succession. With the right therapist who specializes in DBT therapy and a psychologist who actually listens and understands what I'm going on with me to find the right medications to help stabilize my mood I'm learning which Waves to ride out.
DBT is great! It (and some CBT) has helped me so much. So glad you're finding a balance.
After hearing this I really wonder if I have it. I’m not violent but I have so many of these traits.

And never forget that mental illness isnt synonymous with being violent ♡ if you do end up getting checked out- DBT/Dialectical Behavioral Therapy is awesome. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy can be helpful too if you have good guidance- since some of the exercises can trigger feeling insulted/misunderstood (since CBT can be harsh and straightforward about dysfunctional thinking patterns, etc). Good luck! And whether or not you have it, I appreciate this video so much for her explaining everything so well. We all have things we can work on.

One thing I absolutely loved is how she avoided any possible hearsay objections by referring to trials, interviews and other media that everyone can factually check. The way that she speaks is very eloquent.

I dealt with an ex-wife like that (same vocabulary as in the recording) and even though you KNOW EXACTLY what she did, her playing the role of a victim afterwards, can make you start doubting yourself. It's not just a simple liar who denies. NO! it's a complex argumentation with a lot of knowledge about you and your history together that is used against you without you realizing the process.
Trust me, even though you saw and heard a lot of evidence agianst her, this might easily end up as a 50-50 responsibility or worse for JD.
Amber already punched 2 people who aren’t Johnny depp. She’s yelled at people for no reason, she’s shown passive aggressive behavior in an interview when someone was walking through a door and it was too distracting for her. This psychologist really hit the nail on the head with this one. The other psychologist sounds like someone’s biased Aunt who just wants to take the side of her niece or something even when she’s wrong. Dr Shannon is stating facts real life facts that have been tested through other non famous individuals. This isn’t a direct attack. This is as accurate as it gets.
After watching Amber testify for the past couple days, when you go back and hear what Dr Curry has to say she is spot on! I hope they bring her back out!
I could literally listen to her talk all day long. Dr. Curry is so well-spoken and obviously super knowledgeable in her field. I absolutely love how she not only was talking directly to the jury but, also took time to slow down and explain concepts and technical vocabulary to them as well to make sure that they also understood what she was testifying about.
Watching amber’s expression fall as Dr. Curry ripped into her was also extremely satisfying.

From someone who has barely any knowledge of psychology, she broke things down and explained them in a way that I could understand perfectly without having to go back and listen several times. She was perfectly clear, clinical, concise, she never repeated points unnecessarily, never really stuttered or got caught in her words. She knew exactly what she wanted to say and how best to say it to her audience. And on top of all that, she has a lovely soothing voice as she describes it to you. I'd love a psychology podcast hosted by her.

I just want to remind people that someone having Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) does NOT mean they are a bad person or toxic or like Amber Heard. BPD people already have an incredibly difficult time getting help and are discriminated in medical settings. BPD is also treatable with a blend of DBT and long term 1 on 1 therapy.
There is always someone on a video about BPD who says something like this...I don't think what you're saying is untrue, but where are these people? I'd love to hear/learn from them. If they exist, I hope they gain the strength to eventually educate or speak on their experience.

@@TheLC253 I am one of these people. I did one messed up thing to someone when I was 18 and undiagnosed with BPD, dealing with my mother’s death. I will always regret it and carry the weight of it for my entire life. I try to do better everyday.
It doesn’t mean they are as bad/toxic as Amber Heard but they are often bad/toxic people. Although it’s not the persons fault that they are on the cluster B spectrum, it’s also important that their bad behaviour isn’t minimised because they have a personality disorder. All adults need to take 100% accountability for their actions, whether disordered or not.

@@Practicalinvestments I have BPD as well and to be fair the code type amber presented with and her patterns of behaviour clearly illustrate an individual who has slid down the scale of malignancy, with respect to her BPD behaviours, and so would typically be sadistic, display more narcissistic traits and would be incredibly toxic. I don't think Dr Curry was necessarily trying to say everyone with BPD behaves like this. She was just giving a list behaviours most pertinent to the trial.

Good observation. I’ve wondered if she was maybe instructed to look at the jury ...but now I can see where she was trying to mimic this doctor
Amber clearly lies to her legal team as much as she does the world, they was so unprepared for Dr Curry.

It was actually a genius move from Depp's team, bringing in someone who didn't have that much experience in testifying, which means she had less of a record to attack. The possible downside in such a tactic is that the expert has to be mightily impressive on the stand to counter their lack of experience, which of course she was.
They have their own Dr who gave Amber the same tests. The results would be interesting to see.
Being prepared for each witness is on the attorneys. They participated in all depositions and should know what's coming.
