'thieves in the night' is one of the best/most important hip hop songs ever made. Mos kills that second verse in the original.
Agreed! This album initiated me into socially conscious hip hop.
Poetry..
Correct G
I always come back to this every couple years...sheesh every time. Classic.
EVERY time fam.
I have it in my head since 2001
Ain't there no better moment than vibin to this in 2020
Never seen a rapper and the band play together like that. Mos definitely awesome
The Roots
Chris Daddy holding it down like a boss. Pure class
Chris, Jon Jon, AND Robert absolutely KILLING it.
i love it when mos sings. tone for days
By far my favorite video on CZcams. Watched this countless times over the years during times of hardships.
I was hoping he would put down the flow he spat in "Thieves Of The Night", cuz those are some of the most epic bars in the history of hip hop, but this here was cool. He got down on the beat and had fun with it, and I totally dug that:)
It would've been an absolute joy. But I like how the audience initially recited some of the chorus, and Mos/Yasin gets that smile on his face, thanks them and picks it up from there.
Robert G is fuckin awsome, a perfect trio , and mos def killed it. Good time for smoke a blunt.
Damn, you see a bunch of brothers grooving and you think of smoking a blunt? I wish you could see with my eyes, because I feel spirit and depth that would need it.....but I'm from a different tribe than you are.....so....
+Mizz Hadassa We feel it with the same eyes man, we just enjoy it with different perception, and there's no tribe. The only tribe that i expect is A Tribe Called Quest ;) peace and light.
Likewise
@@mizzhadassa322 Chris loves joints shut the fuck up man judgy asshole, most of what you have heard about weed is a lie , Bet you dont have a problem with alcohol
LOOVVEEE this version
My brothers are astounding! All of them. It runs in the family!
Hell yeah!
Da fq I got this record in 2001 and here I am in 2024
always coming back to this song..
Mos (in my opinion) really compliments what's going on, which is rare to see. Most rappers these days haven't had the word 'musical' be described to them as anything important.
Glasper is a genius. So is Mos Def. Gimme the fortune keep the fame!!
the best artist I've seen live. The mighty Mosdef !!!
HERO HE IS for ME 😎🤩HE SOOOO BLESSED😇🤴🏾🤴🏿💪🏿✊🏿🙏🏽🙌🏽❤💚💛lobiiii
Anyone got a link for the full set? It's so good I leave any woman I'm with if they can't appreciate it! I saw Talib in Brooklyn and Blackstar in London. I'm 39, their album came out when I was 18. Word
original track is so good already and i mean mos def is versatile enough to do something like this just proves how hes a legend. never heard of the other guys on the instrumental but god damn they killed it
It's just like a live jazz recording compared to a studio version!
I love the feeling between Dave and Web. Glad that this is posted here - I missed when Glasper came to NYC Sympony Space, and I've been curious. Hip hop is better with live musicians. I like how Mos Def isn't afraid to quote the older joints - You can git with this, or you can git with that. Sweeeeetness.
"Separate the lie from the truth."🔥That bass was groovy all the way.
glasper is an upcomming jazz musician. its great to see hip hop guys hooking up with guys like that
IT ain't nothin like empowering music⭐

This is the paradox of infinite Infinity and life's algorithm of perplexed serenity and the tranquil affect of tranquility in a kinetic energetic magnetic poetic theoretic subconscious thought through wisdom and ability to see From the minds third eye

waooooo probably the best track i ever heard performed live one of the best waoo
they really know what they do hehehe arent they? the best heheheh so he uses live musicians for his tracks so is kinda jazz without lirics
What were the people who disliked this expecting when they clicked this?
hells yeah.
@petzaman1 no. it's one offshoot of jazz and jazz isn't relegated to a more hip hop direction in the modern world. a lot more is happening with jazz and some of it is still in the traditional jazz vein and progresses a lot in that direction as well.
the best 3 piece band ever!
