    I think you have just about hit the nail on the head with an excellent choice of pick profiles. There's also a really good range of tension tools too. What a great kit and there is the added bonus of the quality that Multipick provide.

      @@laurenarndt464 yeah, I gravitate towards sparrows and Peterson too. Peterson are harder to get here in the U.K. though and the postage and taxes are… ugly. I do actually use Multipick for specific keyways though, they always seems to have ‘just the right profile’ where a keyway gets hard to navigate. As for hardness, I’ve not had a problem with them, but I would say that they appear a little less hard than Max yeild stainless, but maybe that’s also a factor of the fact that their thickest steel is around 0.023” while Peterson and Sparrows start at 0.025” as standard. I don’t know about you, but I’d love someone with the right equipment to do a bend test on all the top manufacturers picks to see what resists deformation the best

    Good review!
    As usual for multipick, this seems like a very.good set.
    As per my own personal preferences, I would add a few tools;
    A straight or slightly curved probe, and a "goat wrench" or other turning tool for tubular locks, and I can't live without my two favorite rakes, a city rake, and an offset snake rake. (I love my offset snakes,. I use them sometimes upside down at first for those shallow pins thar are so easy to overset, and also use the tip as a kinda hook if after raking I just need to lift one or 2 pins a little more. I have also used it to reach past the pins and bypass locks that don't have a cover shielding preventing this).
    Oh yeah...you never mentioned the price, but I expect that it is a bit higher than the spring steel generic sets on ebay.

    Hi Lock Noob, what a great set of picks and profiles you have chosen, and I guess you could say "Goldilocks" in the thickness of the picks. Perhaps the only criticism ( if you could call it that ) would be the " heavy" profile of the wave rake. A thinner profile would definitely allow more of a rocking movement when required.

    • @LockNoob
      @LockNoob  Před rokem +1

      You could be right about the wave rake, but it was the best profile they had available… maybe I should have courage them to make a nice worm rake?

    Love that you included the half diamond! Surprised to see the TOK style tensioners are only one sided unlike a Peterson prybar and their clones. Is that for a specific performance reason, or just a stylistic choice? Cheers!

    • @LockNoob
      @LockNoob  Před rokem +1

      It’s for ease of storage. Some people hate the d bar shape, so it’s an option. It doesn’t really add anything performance wise

    Considering that 0.5mm (my favourite thickness btw) is suitable for more experienced pickers, I'm not sure if the large number of tension tools is really necessary. But if someone is not completely new to picking, does not have a large collection of tensioners yet and can afford this set, it's definitely a nice choice.

    • @LockNoob

  • @LockHeatLockpicking
    @LockHeatLockpicking Před rokem +2

    Very nice set indeed. Since you ask...what i do miss is a more spp like set. If you are like me and you don't use rakes at all every set is "overpriced" if you look at what you use in the set. MP does have the champions set what about half solves it. It is very personal, but i would love to see a set with SPP picks only in all 3 thicknesses topped with a few diamonds, offsets etc. MP is great stuff, value for your money qualitywise. Yet the sets don't fit my usecase and that makes them to expensive for me.

    I think that is the perfect thickness, probably need to get some. With european locks I prefer 18 thousends with eg. my Petersons.

      @erichkitzmueller Před rokem

      If you need neither the tension tools nor the rakes, you might consider the smaller 0.5mm pick set from Multipick, which contains just 6 hooks and costs about 1/4 of the new set.

    • @hoggif
      @hoggif Před rokem

      @@erichkitzmueller Those are a choise indeed. I tend to pick and match. Even if I use 97% of the time hooks, when you want a rake like a good quad peak you like one. Almost similar to the diamond I use about yearly: when you need one you really need one. (I have no diamond in my Multipick sets at the moment).
      It is always up to preferences, picking style and the amount of money. Making the compromise between all of those.
      Multipick singles are reasonably priced, you can mix and match with not that much loss if you know what you need.

    • @erichkitzmueller

      @@hoggif Unfortunately, the choice of single picks in 0.5mm is currently limited to 6 hooks in Multipick's web shop - no diamonds, rakes etc. yet. But I guess this will change soon, and of course, other vendors offer good 0.5mm tools too.
