I agree with you 100% with your list. The number 1 thing for sure is constant content and updates. Content imo, is the savior of every game. Doesn't matter if the game is fun and great, but if there's no new stuff, it'll inevitably die. Like for example another Asymm that's currently in the lowest state is "Project: Playtime". We haven't gotten any updates since October last year. My channel kinda suffers from it bc that was the game I used to make content on constantly cause there was a lot of events and updates. Now it's tough to make videos on it. I have really high hopes for KK and I can't wait to see you cover it, as will I.
I think that was the major issue, with getting people to play Leather Face. Even if they were willing/good, they didn't want to break a meta build. Too much effort on chance..
It’s not fair for people to blame Illfonic for Friday the 13th (Predator I 100% agree with the blame) The copyright issues failed Gun and Illfonic, especially since they were on the right path and had released both free and paid for DLC, and showed an extensive years long roadmap for their plans, including the Paranoia game mode, right as the copyright lawsuit forced the shutdown of game production For that, I will never blame Illfonic; I share that same loss as they do

I know this has been said many times but in dbd what keeps me is unique killer powers if every killer was a skin like survivor it would have died 6 years ago but i can spemd 500 hours on a power and then move to the next one and so on
from what i've seen each killer klown has its own power. I know one has its own car and i think (from what i've seen from gameplays) is that one can transform into objects and sneak up on survivors. I know at least one klown can use a balloon dog too as a trap for survivors
Great video Jae, my only big gripe against Illfonic for KKFOS Game, is that for some reason they don't want The Dickies Killer Klowns song in the game. We had it in the reveal trailer for the game but for some reason they took it out. And also after Illfonic joined them they backed off from the Beta. They're making some very questionable decisions, but none the less, still very excited to play the game!
Jae i'd like to mention that you also had a good feeling for VHS and TCM, it's not that we don't trust you but...Feeling doesn't say much I seriously hope the game goes well, but the devs having a track record of games that haven't done well isn't exactly promising

I think the main important aspect is the gameplay loop. Nothing else makes a difference if the part of the game you spend the most time in isn't fun in the first place. Lots of Asym horror games tend to have this issue where one role is fun while the other is bad. Maybe instead of having two gameplay loops that are extremely different from each other, i think it would make more sense if the gameplay loop for both sides was similar so that you can have fun independent of what you play but also different enough that you don't get bored of it super easily
Those are some great points. Honestly I got really tired of Dead by Daylight and was so dishearted when F13 died that I did have high hopes for Evil Dead and and TCM- With Evil Dead it was the grind and when that was done the lack of content for both Heroes AND Demons.... from my experience it was like they were pushing out ALL of there content out in the first couple of months and then has NO IDEA of where to go or what to put out.... and then there were these unbalanced issues and patches made which made the game that much more unbalanced but ALWAYS hackers to be had. And then the cherry on top an interview with Craig Sherman- one of the main Dev's of that game openly mocks the gamer base about "never being happy" or cant make anyone happy.... and now that game is done.... Now TCM Where content is extremely lacking and when its available it is overpriced and has a sweaty player base with easy escapes that can end within minutes..... Now with Killer Klowns on the other hand- It seemsIllfonic has grown since F13.... Furthermore with them working side by side with the Chiodo's- Those brothers have 30+ years of Stories and lore of the Klowns yet to be told and maybe can expand on more so there it is for content. Just as long as the other boxes are checked and hopefully the meta game IF there is any doesnt drive a toxic community then i can see thisngame hopefully thriving.
if it's similar to friday, it's gonna be around for a while and people will def talk abt it since people will call it the "new dbd killer" which will make people want to play it and that means it gets more players. They had Baal leaked at launch and he only came out like a year later. They also had a brand new map and just chose not to release it.
When i played at pax i had a BLAST as clown. The clown i got was perfect for me but when i played survivor it was just pain. You get found, then candied and NODODY saves you. Im assuming its just because it was pax either not all people being gamers or fully understooding it but lets hope it doesnt end up that way when it releases

What they should do on release they should immediately thank the community for helping them to make this game happily and then immediately try to make more content and like when they want to add a possible new klown or human class they check for bugs and then decide to release it or not. And were I stand, this is the tough to crack recipe a good game needs: - A common role with personalizable play styles, and a objective that stays fun regardless of the opposition interaction. If the fun aspect of the game involves constant or direct contact with the power role, either the table is turned by the community or the power role ruins others experiences. - A power role that is easy to get into but hard to master, with some control over the game that feels good to play around in different ways. The power role need to have tools to indirectly fool or mess with the opposition. If the game doesn't give a satisfying feel of control, players will focus in force fighting players directly for the victory, with no incentive to play with other aspects that doesn't guarantee the most wins. And if that doesn't work, they quit cause the power feel is gone. - Like he said on the video, a sizeable meta game to inspire towards the top. Is essential to have more goals to play than try to one up random players with random skill sets, unless the game is targeted vs friends. - A competitive game design. Asymmetrical just isn't for casuals. Players are driven to play competitive in any PvP game, especially in a genre they want to be or beat a larger threat. "Killer" players always want to be feared without much push back in their capabilities, and "Survivor" player to be challenged in independent ways. This is not a comparison to DbD, but most games that took a similar approach before and after it's rise, like Project Winter, Deceit, and Evil Dead, that have nothing in common with each other or DbD, but requires this rules I mentioned none the less. They fail in one or more of the points of this post, not building up a player base large enough or balanced for both parts of the asymmetry playing field, or weren't able to provide a live service of updates to appeal to a larger audience to have the chance of doing so.
It will end like any other asymmetrical other than dbd. Will be fun for a couple weeks but lose most players within the first month, then slowly die because of slow updates and bad balance choices before pulling the plug and stop releasing new content before hitting the 1 year mark.
