Censorship is always shitty. No matter how small or insignificant you find it. Not caring about tits or panty shots doesn't make you any more virtuous than the rest of us. Sounds like hypocrisy to me. 🤷‍♂

I defended the existence of that mechanic, while also saying that I didn't care much that it was gone. It doesn't bother me that its gone, but yeah, it sucks that they're removing stuff. Even stuff like this, where the is a contextual reason such as the sleaziness of being a tabloid reporter.

I think discounting arguments from "that crowd" kinda diminishes the nature of the complaints tbh. I think any changes to appease the "modern audience" makes the game they're creating feel less and less from a design aesthetic. I've played this game since it first game out and I'm a fan girl for the first game through and through. I think even the smallest changes matter, especially to a game of its time. It just feels disingenuous in a way, especially when you take from a perspective of maintaining a game of that time period. People have become too sensitive to a point where they felt there are problems for how people actually dressed in that time and place (a lot of Capcom's character designs and models are inspired by reference photos from a trip to America to use as references for NPCs, zombies and Willamette Parkview Mall in genera for Dead Rising). It makes it just a little less immersive in my opinion; if it's set in 2006, let it depict what the developers brought back in their character designs and reference photos. It's smaller compared to the changes made to Cliff, which are a travesty since it denigrates his character and sanitizes one of the many iconic parts of the game. However, it's still something to think about: I think making any of these changes sanitizes the true experience. Removing features, sanitizing content and scrubbing and re-writing lines in the game, changing entire casts and getting non-union actors which hurts the quality without a good or incredible voice director, altering game difficulty which lessens the spirit of the original title, etc.
I agree with you on a lot of points, but changing anything in a game in an effort to appease to an audience that hasn't played the game and probably won't just because they're sensitive to the teeniest, tiniest thing is a bad habit in the gaming industry that needs to die along with other habits like shoehorning in microtransactions into single player experiences, slapping DRM onto single-player games, etc. If they want to experience the game like Dead Rising fans experienced it, it should be left untouched in most if not all aspects and shouldn't cost anyone $40 or $60 bucks for a game that's less of an experience than an almost 20 year old game that's now under $10-$20.

@@genaprice8775 I agree with a lot of that. But I'm guessing my "that crowd" comment was misunderstood which is my fault, I meant the grifter content goons who don't actually care about Dead Rising or the topic in general. They just pick whatever the "anti-progressive" stance is and then moan about that, like that Egg man and Starfield having pronouns. Or any one of the many losers who work at The Daily Wire, Tim Pool, Andrew Taint, etc.

@@VaughanDavies I mean, I kinda get it. At the same time, I think I sorta see where they come from and this is coming from someone who' "supposed" to like choosing pronouns in games or stuff like that when I find it just... eh. I mean, from my standpoint, for companies to focus on censorship or things like representation a bit or a lot over game quality doesn't really sit right with me. That's how I perceive it. Starfield was buggy as hell and still is at launch and a lot of content can't be filled in by the amount of mods you can strap onto the game, especially how unstable mods have been with Starfield since it bugs out a lot of the time just out of nowhere (the sound cutting out and requiring you to uninstall them then reinstall them gets annoying when it doesn't even fix the problem lol). I guess I'm just mainly focused on game quality more than anything: graphics, engine stability, playability, quality of writing. In this case of the DR Remake, just keeping it the way it is was all Capcom needed to do. The game really does still withstand the test of time even with all the features that just aren't "with the times". It was never meant to be with the times; it was just meant to be immersive, difficult, fun and unique. Games these days just focus too much on social subjects or if the game is inclusive (Games have been more inclusive than people realized and I played a LOT of games) or if the game's story, content and dialogue is gonna offend someone, which is why I'm just so turned away from the Dead Rising remake.
New players won't be able to experience the game like we did on Day One: every feature, the amazing voice cast, the quality of the game, little microtransactions (the game did have purchasable DLC but the prices for them were pretty light. I think under $5 for the outfits on the 360. Meanwhile, this game is coming out with a list of DLC that'll definitely be more expensive than that (the game jumped up another 10-20 because of the pre-order bonuses). Yes, the game had issues; the AI had to be fixed because there were issues from the get-go because survivors would try and follow Psychopaths like they were Frank and the pathfinding was broken for Survivors. However, those changes don't change the essence of the game per say.
I don't know... Maybe I'm just one of those girls that doesn't care a lot for adding in pronouns or social stuff when I'm focused on if the game works or is fun to play or, in the case of a reboot/remake/remaster, wonder if the game stays faithful to its identity, works well and plays well. I can kinda get annoyed at unnecessary additions or stuff that just seems so eh when the developers should've focused on making sure the writing was good or if the game was good to play. While I won't make a big fuss of it, it has been getting annoying over the years and more blatant as games that focus on that suffer in a lot of other categories (writing, stability, gameplay, etc.), which as somebody who spends money to have fun like a lot of other people, it kinda sucks when those games aren't fun, get annoying in writing due to how cringey or just... awful it can be in quality or performed by the voice actor, are bugged to death with bugs that shouldn't be there on day one, etc.
Idk. That's just me. But I do agree with you on most of the points on the game, though. What the game presents just seems so... ugh. They were so worried about sanitizing the experience and sanitizing content that they didn't do more QA for things like zombies clipping through each other, clothing clipping on Frank, shadow/texture/foliage pop-in, FPS drops (seems to be the case in most footage in the Underground Tunnels) in the Underground Tunnels, etc. I'm still gonna give it a try but I hope the community starts to mod the hell outta the game. Original cutscene sound and voices, fixing face animations (especially since Frank's animations on 2006 Classic Frank look funky in some of the cutscenes), etc.
I'm hoping that Capcom learns from this in a positive way. They haven't been doing so hot in recent years when it comes to that in some key areas (very predatory with microtransactions) but maybe the company needs a kick in the pants and start treating all their titles with care. Dead Rising and its fans deserved that, especially after the tragedy that was Dead Rising 4... God, that game was just... awful.

@@genaprice8775 I would much prefer we didn't get changes for pointless shit in games, removing erotica while it is something I don't care about, I will at least defend its existence as I did in the video. It's got a contextual reason to exist and is good satire that mocks the sleazy nature of the press. But it's removal, while unnecessary, doesn't bother me that much. That said, I would prefer they didn't just needlessly cut shit from the game. Them changing dialog that completely changes the characters is absolute bollocks and shouldn't happen. It legitimately annoys the shit out of me. There's no single, positive reason to do that. Makes you wonder what they're gonna do to Jo, the fat, pervy, lesbian cop. I'm guessing maybe these
["The game really does still withstand the test of time even with all the features that just aren't "with the times". It was never meant to be with the times; it was just meant to be immersive, difficult, fun and unique."]
I fully agree, I don't think they should overly modernize the game because those "outdated" mechanics and systems, are what makes Dead Rising so unique. We shouldn't be streamlining everything just because it's the accepted "norm" or "expected quality". I'd much prefer devs take bigger risks, and play around with mechanics in fun ways. But sadly, I think those days are over for big companies like Capcom. Nowadays, budgets are so insanely high, they're terrified of taking risks and doing anything that isn't what the chart says players like during their dev meetings.
["as somebody who spends money to have fun like a lot of other people, it kinda sucks when those games aren't fun, get annoying in writing due to how cringey or just... awful it can be in quality or performed by the voice actor, are bugged to death with bugs that shouldn't be there on day one, etc."]
I fully agree again. I'd prefer we just get fun games, and remakes that aren't watered down. Like the chainsaw lollypop remake, they've completely butchered the art-style and seem to have removed jokes from the original. It's just such a stupid way to doom that remake's reception, because at that point, it isn't even a remake. They're just re-imagining the game from their own vision of what it should be, not respecting or caring about the original message, intent or hard work from the original devs. It's completely pointless, they're shooting themselves in the foot by making an old 360 game that is very hard to find nowadays, better than the remake they're spending tens of millions creating. Completely and utterly asinine developers.
["Idk. That's just me. But I do agree with you on most of the points on the game, though. What the game presents just seems so... ugh. Again, I fully agree. I didn't have it in my script, but I had complained about the performance and pop-in of zombies in the underground tunnel ad-lib style. But I cut it because it didn't flow properly and sounded unnatural when I recorded It. It just didn't fit and I was being lazy, not wanting to re-record an ad-libbed tangent. Next time, I make a video like this, I'm just gonna pause and add the line. I was way too concerned about keeping the video under 15 minutes that I didn't bother adding more lines to the script. So, what I ad-libbed was pretty much this, "oh yeah, and I saw footage of the underground tunnels and it looks worse than the original. It feels like there's less zombies than the original and the pop-in looks terrible" and then it didn't flow nicely until whatever the next part was. It clashed so I cut it, which I should have just adjusted the script to make it sound better. I noticed the FPS drops and I gave them a pass because it's an early build, but if the game releases with performance issues, all of us will complain. So I'm hoping they fix that shit as they should. Mods will fix a lot of shit I suspect, and while I'm getting the game on Xbox, I will get the game on PC a few years down the line for mods (if everything works out that way.)
[I'm hoping that Capcom learns from this in a positive way. Once again, haha I fully agree. I was extremely disappointed by Dead Rising 4, that game is just terrible all around, also you made a pointless earlier in your message about the DLC of the remake costing more than the original's DLC outfits cost. I fully agree. It's bullshit. I hope Capcom cools it with the microtransactions and starts treating their games with more care, but unless being greedy twats begins to be the actual cause of what damages their profits, and not just the games being broken or shit, then I doubt they'll do that. All these big companies are going to shit. They're greedy as fuck, and the guys at the top are hogging all the bonuses and money from their employees, because they don't care about the games, gaming or the fans. They're just money guzzling parasites. Dead Rising fans deserve better, and I personally don't trust Capcom to get it right. I like Capcom, but they make it very hard to like them with the bullshit they pull sometimes. Same as all the big developers. Even SEGA pisses me off, and I ADORE their Yakuza series. The bullshit with locking New-Game+ behind a paywall was extremely shitty and I hope the backlash made them reconsider doing it in the future, as that 100% hurt the games sales and the series reputation, which will no doubt, anger the brilliant folks at Ryu Ga Gotoku Studios.

Dead rising was never a survival horror. The only way for it to be a survival horror is if you actively ignore the constant guns, weapons, and healing items the game gives you.
You'd have to ignore how every single plaza has an Uzi hidden in it.
Have to ignore the food court.
Have to ignore the infinite orange juice in the main plaza.
Have to ignore the gun shop, the samurai sword, the boss weapons.
