In this video Dr. Sarah Keep Optometrist, shares some valuable information on accomodative insufficiency and how it affects learning and other visual functions.
Vision By Design Optometry specializes in Vision Therapy for patients with binocular vision disorders. These disorders commonly arise in patients following traumatic brain injury, such as a concussion, and can cause symptoms such as difficulty focusing the eyes, double vision, light sensitivity, motion sensitivity, dry eye, and balance issues.
Binocular vision disorders can also occur in children resulting in reduced attention or comprehension while reading, headaches, eye strain, double vision when reading, difficulty copying from the board in school, or avoidance of near work.
A doctor supervised program of vision therapy, or neuro-optometric rehabilitation is like physiotherapy for the eyes and can teach the patient to use their visual system more effectively, which alleviates many of their symptoms.

This was very interesting. I was recently diagnosed with accommodative infacility. The optometrist used insufficiency and infacility interchangeably. I read for hours everyday, and get massive headaches and burning strained eyes. He said therapy would not do me much good. I trust his expertise but am still rather intrigued by alternatives to prescription lenses. I wonder where one could go for therapy. I live in Victoria, BC. Or if there are any online resources. Thanks for what you’re doing. This video was more helpful than you know!
