    Last year it was almost impossible to find a Hayward 1.5 hp motor for my Super Pump. Prices went trough the roof! The motor I did receive is a little different from my original but has the same part number. Hayward was once bulletproof providing parts for pools no matter how old they were. Not so much anymore and it was a bit disappoointing. They put those expensive frequency drive pump/motors out there as replacements and dealers shared how problematic they were and suggested NOT buying them! Rebuilding is the ticket, thanks for sharing!

    Great wiring video, but how did the pump housing, impeller, etc. get onto the new motor?

    Do you have a video on how to change the seals for this newer pump, I can't get the impeller off to replace the seals. thanks

    Where did you buy that new style black Super Pump with the all the black plastic motor pieces already on it (impellar, etc.). I'm not wanting a new strainer housing, just the pump and impellar assembly. I'm in Ohio, USA and currently have a Hayward SP2607X10.

    Thanks for this video, as my pump finally gave up the ghost today and here in CA they want to replace pumps with variable speed, which cost a fortune. I'm planning to simply replace with a new super II.

      Only a few people have the variable speed pump. Doesn't make sense to pay that much when you can put a timer on them for 100. It's great if you don't take care of your pool.

      @@VIPPoolsandSpas Thanks again as I was able to replace per your instructions. It took longer to get the new pump wired up because of the heavy gauge wire, and to get that housing gasket to stay in place then it did to change out the pump. Amazing how much better the new pump works with much more power now....

      @@destinyreturns4885 any gasket you have an issue with, just put a little bit of silicone around it and stick it in place. Won't fall out.

    Awesome video, thank you for doing it. Can you tell me where I can order the new style Super Pump? So far, haven't been able to find the newer style pump anywhere. Thanks in advance!

    I replaced my pool motor 5 years ago. Today, it's been overheating, shutting down and then starting back up again. Thanks to you, I did measure the voltage and it's giving a healthy 125V. But when I opened up the back of the motor, I noticed that the motor was set to 230V!!! I did save the original (to us since we moved into the house) motor and it ALSO was set to 230V! When I set the current motor to the 115V setting, it pops the 20Amp circuit breaker. So what's this all about? I ordered a new motor. What do I set it to?

    • @VIPPoolsandSpas
      @VIPPoolsandSpas  Před 2 lety +1

      Whatever volts you have coming in, that's what you set the motor at. If it was 230V before, it will be 230v again for the next motor.

    • @theclutch19
      @theclutch19 Před 2 lety +1

      @@VIPPoolsandSpas I understand... but what's weird is that I ONLY measure 125V at the wires and not 230V!

    • @VIPPoolsandSpas
      @VIPPoolsandSpas  Před 2 lety +1

      @@theclutch19 Are you getting this when its hooked to the back of the motor or when the wires are disconnected?

    • @theclutch19
      @theclutch19 Před 2 lety +1

      @@VIPPoolsandSpas Hooked to the disconnected wires leading into the motor. I have a black, white and ground wire. Meter hooked to the black wire and ground = 125V. White to ground gives 0V; which tells me it's neutral. The internal motor temp safety trips. I measured the outer casing to be 280F. The actual 20Amp circuit breaker does NOT pop unless I hook up the motor to 115V setting. Logic tells me that when the new motor comes in, I should set it to 115V. But then why was this current motor and the previous set to 230V? Seems like someone installed incorrectly. But then I wouldn't have thought that the motor would last 5 years.

    • @VIPPoolsandSpas
      @VIPPoolsandSpas  Před 2 lety +1

      @@theclutch19 Measure the black and white together. Should get 230v. It will trip if you hook it to 115v because your getting 230v. Whats heating up? The new pump or the old one?

    Hi,
    You wired this for 220v. ? the wires coming from the home are red and black.....yours were white and black. im not sure which wire goes under what screw?
    Thoughts?

    • @VIPPoolsandSpas
      @VIPPoolsandSpas  Před 2 lety

      For the Hayward pump in the video it's 220 or 120. There's a clip on the pump. Can switch it to 120v if that's what you have coming in.

    • @VIPPoolsandSpas
      @VIPPoolsandSpas  Před 2 lety

      The old pump was 230 volts and so was the breaker and wire rated for 230v. It's the wire size (gauge) that your aloud to use. Whatever country you might be in, check to see what your rules are. The wire you saw in the video is a 10/2. If it was a 14/2, I could hook it to 115v. I would have to change the pump over to 115v also. Doesn't matter where the wires go in that video, there's only 2 wires and 2 lugs.
