He is back to being great after a year of mid baseball

Perfect time to trade him(high), if they can get him to waive his clause(absolutely stupid contract). He's still inconsistent throughout the season, getting older and in 1-2 years, once his fielding and baserunning continues to decline, he won't be worth anything. And the Cubs have a plethora of young, very talented OFers they need to get going.

That's not sound modern baseball. If you want the Cubs to win, they will need to upgrade from Happ, especially as he starts to decline athletically, and part ways with his overpriced $20M. He holds them back in two vital ways.

Whatever Counsell is doing to the lineup…keep doing it! Have won 4 of 5 and have won those games all comfortably!

Almost never is a relief pitcher/closer on the top 100. I am happy for him though as a cubs fan.

With this great-looking win, followed by the win tonight (4-0) and how they’ve been looking lately, I gotta say it feels so good right now.
“He should’ve been an all star Sunday”. Devers has a higher average, more home runs, more RBIs, and a higher OPS. So no.
Being born and raised in Chicago, yet being a lifetime Bucs fan, there's no suprise that the Cubs have more fans than any team in the majors. Been that way for as long as I've been alive, and that's over 50yrs. They're a better team than their record shows. Underperforming this year, but this game is a perfect example of what they're capable of, and Cubs fans know it.
Big facts
Every team, no matter how good they are, will have a cold spell. And every team, no matter how bad they are, will have a hot streak. The Cubs are coming out of their cold streak. I doubt they will win the division title, but a Wild Card slot is feasable.

I was at the game last night. At first, it looked like it would be a slugfest. Neither Taillon nor Kremer seemed to have their good stuff working. But from the 4th inning through the 6th, Taillon was spot on, having found his rhythm. Taillon could have gone a bit more than six innings, but the pitch count from the early innings got him.
I'm going to tonight's game as well.

The battle of the birds vs bears lol. Cubs came to play tonight, the O's didn't. Dominant performance by Taillon and Busch set the tone early with that homerun and finished with 4 hits. It'll be interesting to see how the rest of this week shakes out for the Cubs which could determine if they're buyers or sellers at deadline. They got hot last year around this time and made some moves only to collapse down the stretch. Bellinger was a rumored trade player last season but they kept him. Let's see what happens rest of this week
Ian Happ, the guy from Pittsburgh keeps lifting the Cubs game after game. Wish the Bucs would have signed him. I like Chicago boy Suwinski, but I'd trade anyday for Happ.

Good advice for any pitcher. But Kremer simply had a bad night. Taillon also started out shaky, but he eventually found his good stuff.
@MFPhoto1 When Kremer pitches it's a 50/50 chance he will be good. His problem is he throws too many pitches per batter. Get ahead in the count and don't waste your pitches. Look at Suarez he throws strikes that's why he stays in games. Bradish, Means when healthy eat up innings. Watch Burnes tonight go after hitters. They all need to stop paying attention to baserunners and concentrate on getting the hitter out.

@@silverranger302 why? Because he bats .220 a yr and hits right around 20 homers? Rizzo, Contreras, Bryant and Baez weren’t. What warrants happ getting that? We have prospects that need their time to shine and contribute. Rostering guys like Happ, Morel, hoerner etc are keeping guys like canario, Cassie and PCA in the minors. Everytime PCA has a good game, he sits the next one… makes no sense. This is not a playoff team by any stretch of the imagination. So why not actually see what these prospects can do?
Morel is still young, that's the biggest thing he has going for him.
Happ has a no trade clause in his contract so he literally cannot be traded lol
@@thelastcasualty2696 a ntc doesn’t just mean you can’t be traded. They usually have teams they’d only accept a trade to. It can be done. Never should have even given him that contract to begin with if we’re honest.
