Can't lie, I just joined the Thursday family last month, headed to the store in Chelsea and ordered the Chukka's in black and brown. Just today...UPS dropped the Caramel...love the Thursday's because they have an excellent ability to be dressed up OR dressed down.
For the NYC winters I plan on using these in the elements (though by no means are they being relegated to "beater boot" status) I am still getting them shoe shined, cleaning after every wear and putting them in shoe trees.

Rule #1: Wear boots that are timeless, and have been around forever! Isn't that pretty much the definition of cowboy boots? Rule #2: Don't wear your shirt unbuttoned too low. It's tacky, shows too much cleavage and a turn-off to woman. As i proceed to wear my shirt unbuttoned. Rule #3: I am a style influencer , so the rules I provide to you, don't always apply to myself because it's part of creating content :)
Cowboy boots are cool if you know how to wear them right and get the correct style. It's also a regional thing too.

However I love to dress casual (chelsea boots and loafers w/ no socks) as well as formal. I am able to have different styles while embracing different cultures of fashion. Being open-minded is one of the keys to being fashionable. Do you follow, what you assume to be, trends or are you a trendsetter?
