I know from my experience you could go and pay £4000 for a lovely Japanese bike or you could pay £2000 for something of similar quality.
What people don't know that most small-capacity Japanese bikes are actually made in China. You can check it out for yourself.

I have the G155 version ( just 30 ccm more ) for about 7 months and is gorgeous in all sections. The crash bars and abs has saved my a** 4-5 times and i would have been very injured. I can full it with 40 euros and last about 650-780 km . But if you do highway with full throttle and speeds just before the redline you shall expect a way lower distance travelled. I did 220 km and i put 30 euros . I used about the 16-18 eyros for that trip. But in town or city where you are below 110 km/h with just accelaration and 60-80 km/h speeds you are just fine. Its beautiful and just WORTH the price. Insurance is 90 euros per year in greece and taxes about 20-30 euros so very cheap. Uh and service is like 40 euros . Change the filter with a DNA one and you are good to go . I have 6000 km on it and is just working so good !! Buy it !

This is a hell of a lot of bike for the money, i don't think there should be any Chinese vs Japanese and who makes the best bikes.

Riding and handling every bit as good as KTM and Yamahas I have also been looking at but nice additional features like light up controls and slipper clutch. I purchased one in July, the crash bars saved me from too much damage in September. A van made an illegal right turn in front of another van as I was filtering, hit the left crash bar and front wheel. Bike needed a new front mudguard, new nearside mirror and clutch safety bar. The tank was replaced due to scratches that would have buffed out. Didn't get knocked off but my Scaphoid in my left wrist was broken. Damage to the van was a new front bumper, possibly an offside front wing and various scratches and there was something dangling underneath it. Hopefully my plaster comes off tomorrow and I'll be back on the road. It's a great little bike, use E5 as that is what Zontes have stickered on the tank. Tried E10 and lost power. Have a Shad top box and rack for my helmet, love the bar end mirrors and milage is as you say about 100/120. Don't bother with the eco button, it only reduces the power and don't drop the clutch in a hurry unless you like riding on one wheel. Cannot recommend this bike enough and it looks better than it's sports cousin the U or U1. Ride safely and be careful out there.

Nice review Chris. Good bike and at the top of the China manufacture. I've just ridden one and owned also, the UM Scrambler S full power water cooled. All good bikes. Disagree for once though. Yes this is cheaper than MT125 (made in France btw) and great value. I now own the MT125 though and it is better, smoother and a nicer ride than any of them. The power is effortless and it holds value like no other. That said,, is it worth the extra you spend up front? To me yes. To others maybe not. And if you don't have the extra money in the first place or prefer the look of another bike, it's irrelevant. Keep up the great work Chris.

I am looking for a commuter mixture between Scottish rural A road with hills , short dual carriageway and bit of town . I drive a big Subaru outback but most times it's just used back n forth to work apart from winter it's pretty no economical so I am looking at a wee bike.
I am 6.2ft and weight around 15stone so limited in 125 that do all that and take my height and weight .
This looks a candidate fir commute and maybe weekend run around the A roads .

It goes up to 85 mph pretty quick. The output 18ps /9250rpm and 16Nm /7500rpm makes it just as quick as you want it. It is actually really fun and really cool to drive, very economical you can make about 430 miles with a single refuel. The eco/sport mode like all zontes actually cant notice any differnce. The usb is uselless at least for me.The allows are really beautiful.Everyone is looking at it and cant believe it costed me 3k euro about 2500 in pounds with an 200 euro alarm included in the price.

Can you check on these bikes if you sell them do you know what final drive gear ratio is on these?
I believe the pinion is 14t on all but the crown could be different on the U vs the G & U1
...a bit like the colour options, in the EU you can have the black/yellow, and the black/gold.. UK only has all black weird.
What's different on the Euro 5 ? I think there's another cat near the cylinder head, maybe ECU tweaks

Trouble then how to set the Speedo/odo with the new ratio.

Are all Zontes globally sold with the same bore and stroke do you know? Listed specs indicate a swept Volume cc of 149cc (maybe the extra 5cc is cylinder chamber+ squish gap.
No cylinder liner must be nikasil or stelite.
Are they restricted to 125cc by means of ECU map and Air Venturi be interesting to know.
What is the rev limiter set to 9500 ? And do you know the 3 models share same gearbox ratio, front rear sprocket sizes can't find this info.

the zontes in the UK have a 125cc and are restricted to 14.4 apparently unrestricted they are 16.8 but UK law stated you need 14.75 on a 125 but apparently, in Europe, they are a 155cc I'm not sure on the horsepower the rev limit is higher than 9500 but not sure exactly what rpm 11000 to 12000 rpm and I would assume that all bikes 125cc 155cc and all 3 models will share the same bottom end I hope this helps

Insurance also varies on your postcode. The higher the crime rate in your area. The more expensive the insurance will be. Also mileage plays a big part.
