omg ... i had to be away both evenings, and only caught the last ten minutes of the second night ... i have emailed the school twice to see this ... are you posting it in its entirety? ... no matter ... a blessing on you, sir!
Apologies for confusing people by using "ankh" instead of "ah". I'll need to upload a replacement for this video before i misinform too many people. :-(
Thanks for the correction; I'll add a new version at some point and fix this. I'm working on the Hymn of the Aten which is my favorite from this opera. Amazing singing, I don't know how you do it!
Sure I'll put a few more up in a day or so including The Temple unless IU has a problem with it. Loved your singing, and I hope I got your name right in the description!
Thank you criostoir59! Yes in the score it is simply "ah," there are many other instances of ankh, but that isn't one of them, oddly enough. Not sure, but you might have brought to light a typo in the score.
Can you please post The Temple scene? I'm a cast member, and I'd love to post this video to my professional website. Thank you so much for posting this!!!!
Wonderful! It's actually just Ah, not ankh, but the rest is right. I messed up three words in here by accident. Only mistake of the evening. Oh well. Thank you though great quality!
Wait, why is it just Ah? The word for "life" in Middle Egyptian (the language of the so-called Book of the Dead) is ankh (hieroglyphs for [word begins with vowel]-n-kh). Is it Ah in the score and Ankh on Glass' website? And...you're singing in a language no one's spoken for thousands of years, and no one really knows for sure what the VOWELS were...I think you can be forgiven for fluffing THREE WORDS. Beautifully sung, btw.
simply beautiful
Yes! This is wonderful. :) I'm a priest in the Temple scene, and I'd love to have that scene as well.
Thanks so much for posting this!
