The high and long jumps are both specialized speed-strength exercises. The flight arcs after take-off also share more similarities now. These jumping events now share similar approach mechanics. High jumpers utilize long jump approach mechanics (momentum development) with curved conversion phases (vertical take-off mechanism). The swing leg execution during the penultimate step and take-off execution are similar in both jumping events excusing the centrifugal momentum transferred from the conversion phase arc.
