few spectators. Liu Guolang, the chinese table tennis legend as player and coach, once said that he concerns about the popularity of table tennis more than the result of matches. Heavyweight balls are luring stupid stuff in table tennis. They make table tennis become bored with very few touches in every balls series, and with more offgame time, less long rallies, less visual athletic skills shows. The less touches in every ball series, the less ongame time, the more offgame time, and players lose more their time for offgame time to go to pick up balls.
HEAVYWEIGHT BALLS MAKE TABLE TENNIS MANUFACTURER AND PROFESSIONAL PLAYERS TO BE POORER AND POORER, because heavyweight balls make table tennis extremely difficult to play amateur social games for new beginners. Thus majority of new beginners leave away from table tennis, and there be very few new beginners still keep playing table tennis (extremely difficult to play game for beginners).
It requires few weeks of training for new beginners to reach minimal amateur levels to play amateur social games in other sport, for example in badminton, billards, .. . BUT IT REQUIRES FEW YEARS OF TRAINING FOR NEW BEGINNERS TO REACH MINIMAL AMATEUR LEVEL TO PLAY AMATEUR SOCIAL TABLE TENNIS GAMES. It is very stupid big time training requirement for beginners in table tennis, thus majority of new beinners just leave table tennis. I personally see much many real life cases today : private commercial table tennis club halls are revamped to become badminton club halls, because table tennis is extreme difficult to attract enough number of new beginners to get profit for running commercial table tennis clubs as commercial social sport services. If the commercial private table tennis halls have high ceils, then their owners often cancel table tennis club services to convert halls into commercial badminton club or other sport services halls to get profit, because there are very few new amateur table tennis players.
The reason of stiff difficulty of table tennis for new beginners : heavyweight balls make table tennis to be extremely difficult for new beginners : they fly extremely lightening fast in air, and they are difficult to control for beginners. Lightweight balls make table tennis become extreme easier for new beginners : they fly slower in air, they are easier to control for beginners. With lightweight balls, every ball series will have more touches in average. Thus table tennis matches will have more ongame time and less offgame times, thus players have more ongame time. It is valuable ! Because amateur players pay their time to play table tennis matches for health and social fun/communication, thus the more offgame time, the less waste time for players !
Everyone can try lightweight balls, for example 2gr balls, to feel how extremely more easily to play table tennis for new beginners.
The next balls of table tennis must be lightweight balls, for example, 2-2.5gr balls instead of the current 2.7gr balls.
The result of lightweight balls will be staggering : there will be more billion new beginners come and keep playing table tennis with new lightweight balls of 2gr, because lightweight balls do not require stupid enormous few years of training to reach minimal amateur level to play amateur social table tennis game, but require only few weeks of training enough to play amateur social table tennis games. Of course, it leads to increadible big scale business of table tennis equipment manufacturers, it leads to increadible big number of table tennis audience of professional tournaments . Because new billion beginners will play and keep playing the easier version of table tennis with lightweight balls 2-2.5gram, but not the current stupid extreme difficult version of table tennis with heavyweight balls 2.7gram, thus they known playing table tennis as amateur players and once they known playing then they will have interest to watch table tennis tournaments. They will be billion one, once lightweight balls 2-2.5gram are applied in table tennis.

@@danilrosser Ye we all know that, I literally said Ma Long didn't show his level today. WCQ was far too strong and fully deserved this after how he's cruised past Harimoto and ML, very exciting player.
After losing the first game while leading 10:7 and then being totally outclassed in the second game, the match was over.
There are things you cannot come back from...
Haven't seen Ma Long like this, maybe once or twice against Xu Xin while being frustrated, and yet it reminds me of Zhang Jike's final stage before quitting.
I really would like to see Harimoto play against Alexis Lebrun for third place
Harimoto was totally outclassed by Alexis Lebrun 3-0 last year. You should go an watch that match.

Ma Long was way too passive but even then WCQ had ALL the answers! Insane match!
WCQ played very well, but obviously it was Ma Long who decided to let another Chinese player a chance for the title.

Wow! Never seen Ma Long being dominated like this before. Well, since Wang Hao. After all, Mr. Ma shows he is not Puff the ageless magic dragon.

Even the dragon can't breathe 200-foot long flame anymore, it's still a great honor to stand on the other side of the table with him in a final. The 35-year old is already a legend, but he still maintains his top-5 ranking, keeps being the team lead and the team anchor. I think Ma Long will stay in top-10 for another several years. But I guess we may see a final between FZD and WCQ in 2024 Olympic.

No doubt Wang Chuqin is more powerful and faster as he is much younger than Ma Long. However, Ma Long is the GOAT. He is an artist. He has been showing the true beauty of this sport, more than power and speed. Hardly to see anyone else could do what Ma Long is doing now at the age of nearly 35. So lucky to have Ma Long with us, still to be with us in years to come.
Game 1 was absolutely crucial. Wang Chuqin played incredible to come back from the dead. And that gave him wings. Ma basically gave up after game 2.

That was am awesome match and what a performance by Wang! So versatile and soaked everything up that Ma Long threw at him. The first end was the turning point, when he clawed it back.
In this game, WCQ uncannily seemed to know exactly what Ma Long was going to do next and I stress the word "uncannily".

@@MrCooperscoopers Yep. The match between Ma Long and Alexis showed how skilled Ma Long still is by being able to read and adapt to Alexis playstyle meanwhile Fan couldn't. Fan and Wang knows how to play against the top elite very well but not to more unkown threats compared to him.

Вторая подача у Вани всегда над столом , или на линии стола ! Подача активная , он выигрывает долю секунды и получает темп.
Ну, зато за своей «большой головой» перестал мяч прятать - уже хорошо.
Ваня Чукин просто переехал Малого. Вообще не заметил Доминатора. И у него ещё всё впереди. Придется достать таки свою ракетку с антресолей и показать им всем, где раки зимуют...

Никогда Ма Лонга не видел таким за всю историю его карьеры. Он играл только в первом сете. Во втором такое чувство что ему стало плохо со здоровьем и он просто бросил играть. Потом вроде чуть полегче стало но видно было что он не сражается

Не думаю, что дело было в проблемах со здоровьем. Он просто оказался в непривычной для него ситуации - в ситуации полной беспомощности (ситуация, которую его соперники прекрасно знают).
Да ладно, так уже было, когда он восстанавливался после травмы, в 18 или 20 году, не помню уже. Когда он колено свое лечил.
Нет уже у Ма той скорости и мощи. И киты все его подачи и вращения знают.
Иногда Ма всё же выдает матчи, когда играет мощно и борется. Но это уже иногда.
Но против остального мира Ма ещё топ, а вот против своих ему уже очень тяжело.
Да и вопрос мотивации тоже имеет большое значение. У Ма нет голода до побед. Он всё выиграл и не один раз.

Incredible performance by WCQ, probably one of his very best. Ma Long had no chance, but I doubt he will not come back stronger, he will find a way and get back on his throne. Or not, either way he is still the GOAT. :)

- не ошибался на подачах ( 2 раза).
- обычно не подрезал в игре мяч.
- более быстрый.

Good lord. Talk about being "in the zone". Wang could do no wrong. So impressive.
Ma Long's key to win is usually setting up the third ball attack for his forehand, but WCQ's backhand was so strong that he could counter ML's forehand shot. When Ma Long was in good condition, he could put extra pace on the forehand top spin rally to back pressure on WCQ's backhand and made him block and be uncomfortable with his backhand counter shots, but with ML's speed being slowed down, WCQ has all the time to use his backhand counter and Ma Long is always in trouble.
WCQ played really good gave all what he got even when he was 3-0 up he didn’t indulge for a second
Idk what happened to ma long here. He totally fell asleep after the first game and he also played weird backhand chops which he never does. It's like he doesn't care or doesn't have any urgency about the score when playing with his own students

A great match, despite Ma's mental. It is so different to watch a right handed vs right handed than a left vs handed, Wang's back hand and forehands were so accurate.

Maybe it’s the video angle, maybe just me ,but I would say WCQ has 20% serves with the contact point clearly [over 9cm] over the table from the back base line. I do not see this with Ma Long serve for comparison. It is noticeable that the Umpires were calling a lot more fault serves at the beginning of this tournament, but this lessened with the latter stages.
The new era has begun, ML will bid farewell soon....
I'm just speechless...totally insane. I don't like his style very much but this guy is a wall and during this tournament he was on another level...

@@hillsideonly I don't get that? he's very much an attacker who uses low arc shots. He is more of a fast driver using the minimum amount of topspin to get the ball over. Nothing defensive about it. I think some people don't like his style because he's hard to rally with so most points with him are shorter

Ah here we go again. 'Ma Long lost "on purpose" because A GOAT like him could never have lost to a "nobody" like WCQ. Come on man just look at their head to head and you know that WCQ definitely has the ability to defeat Ma Long. And in this match, Wang was so fast and so consistent, not making any mistake. The dragon literally tried like strawberry flick and backhand serve but Wang wasn't is fazed by them.

For the people who think otherwise. Wang was a far better player this match. Not a chance that Ma Long would let go the match. Wang played almost without a mistake until the end of 4th set. Crazy performance by him & a bad defeat for Ma Long. It happens even to Ma Long. Now we know he is a human
Being only 22 years old WCQ defeats the dictator and in my opinion “The G.O.A.T” 4-0 in sets, if he keeps on going at this rate what is he going to be like when he’s older and more experienced, and he’s already world rank no.2.
