'I Heard God Speak': Columbine Survivor's 'God' Moment Amid Horror

- Craig Scott is a survivor of the Columbine High School shooting, one of the worst school massacres in American history. His sister, Rachel Joy Scott, was killed during the tragic ordeal after two gunmen entered the school on April 20, 1999, and killed 12 students and a teacher before turning their weapons on themselves.
Scott told CBN News that his sister's "life and legacy" has "impacted millions of people." Rachel, who was 17 when she was killed, was a strong Christian who kept her thoughts documented through powerful journals that have since been shared by the Scott family. These writings have left behind inspirational and faith-inspired messages and have inspired books as well as a feature film titled, "I'm Not Ashamed."
But it was her death that also captured attention, as she was reportedly taunted by the killers for her Christian faith and yet stood firm in it until the end. Scott, too, has his own harrowing journey from April 20. He was in the school library where most of the carnage took place. His two friends were killed next to him and he fully expected he would be next. "I watched as the shooters went around the room, taunting students and treated it like it was a game," Scott said. "And they came over to where I was. I saw my friend, Isaiah, they called him racial slurs. They tried to pull him out from underneath the table. They killed him, then they killed my friend, Matt." He continued, "They left me underneath that table. I thought I was going to die."
What happened next, though, was quite shocking. Scott said he heard the Lord deliver a message in the midst of shock and chaos. "I heard God speak to me," he said. "And I am careful even with that phrase, 'God told me to do something.' ... But I felt very strongly [that He] told me to, 'Get out of there.'" At that point, Scott had no idea where the shooters were, but he stood up, looked around the room, and yelled for his peers to also stand up, repeating what that voice had said. "Let's get out of here," Scott said." Everyone ran out of the room and outside the school to safety. Tragically, 10 kids were killed inside the library.
Scott has spent the past two and a half decades sharing what unfolded in an effort to help others discover hope amid the chaos of their own lives. "From early on, I had this belief that God had a plan and a purpose for the worst tragedy in my life," Scott said. "And that belief ... has been one of the biggest, helpful things in my journey the last 25 years, this belief that God has a plan and a purpose for even the worst stuff."
Through sharing his and Rachel's stories, Scott said his family has been able to help prevent shootings and suicides. Watch Craig explain how he has navigated faith, hope, and forgiveness in the wake of tragedy.

I can't remember who it was from Columbine that shared his story years ago at Angelus Temple in Los Angeles in 1999, but I remember feeling myself getting up and going down to the front of the church, dropping to my knees and sobbing and fully surrendering my life to Jesus and my life forever changed from that day onward. I've never looked back. ❤
I,m glad people still get saved there. The Lords glory departed even before the Catholics took over.
That is beautiful. What an amazing blessing. Sending you my Love.
Powerful testimony, ty for sharing

Craig Scott is so right that the Columbine shootings, like so many, are not nearly as much about guns, bullying, lack of confidence . . . as much as someone giving themselves over to wickedness and darkness. Many "dabble" in the occult, violent movies, destructive music lyrics etc. and think it does not impact them negatively, it does.
Amen. God says that by beholding, we become changed. It happened to Eve, then Adam, and now all of us since the two of them.
I agree. I try n teach my son this. He just turned 14 n I have always homeschooled him. One of his classes his Bible. God is our everyday. Morning n night. Not just on Sundays. I teach him every life is valuable n every person is loved. I teach him when he is angry to listen to nature music, we drive around in nature, watch water such as the river. Listen to birds n identify each one. I teach him to never harm anyone n always no matter what, take responsibility for your actions. Even accidents.
@@sherrydmyterko-tramp8654your son is blessed to have these values instilled in him at an early age!
@@jeanhargis7333 thank you so much. I prayed for more children but our baby Ezekiel passed a couple weeks before birth n was not able to have more. It saddens me so many kill n harm their children when we would take them in a heartbeat, no questions asked. We have love n money, tho not rich, my son has a good life.
I think big pharma plays a part because the parents had their son on heavy medications prescribed by their legal drug dealer which happens to be their doctor that the boy had complained about.
This man has used his pain in the most incredible way. I pray the Lord will give him peace & comfort the rest of his days till he is able to reunite with his sister and his God in heaven. ❤

I think the spirit was speaking thru Rachel. You will see your sister again in the presence of the Lord. Thank you for this interview

Yes, I praise God that she knew Him, loved Him, and obviously heard His voice! She knew…she just knew some things, and she had faith-she agreed with what He spoke to her. It gave her confidence…and her confidence in Him was rewarded. She had an incredibly successful life! And she now lives in that great cloud of witnesses, cheering us on; the time of her need for faith is over (because she sees Him face to face); our time clock ⏰ is still ticking! Father, help us to make the best use of the time we’re given 🎁💝🎁

🕊️I’m a 66 year old Assembly of God minister and Rachel Joy Scott’s life story impacted me greatly. She is indeed a martyr for the faith. I live in Central Mississippi, and I plan one day to go and visit her grave. I really admire her spirit, and her will to serve our Lord Jesus Christ, and even give her life for the faith. I don’t believe you can be more dedicated than that. RIP Rachel🕊️

I feel the same way, about living a “little life”…the amazing thing is: God gives your life, and mine, their meaning. He gave Rachel’s life the meaning it has. And I believe we-you and I and everyone that belongs to the household of faith-will see how weighty our lives actually were while we were here in this life. Keep pressing on, and press into Jesus! ❤

All darkness. Satanic, actually.
Her greatest testimony is not denying Christ and dying for this faith. This is what I want to hear her continue to speak to all people. Please do not let this be silenced.

@wwefanaccount7838 Get real, you didn't pop out of nothingness for no reason, just to check out again later. You are one a rock spinning the perfect speed and distance from the son to sustain your life, with the specific blend you need to breathe...seems like an amazing coincidence for all of that to randomly add up to our planet and world, let alone for life to spring forth. You can't get something from nothing. No matter how science tries to explain, it can't even describe the beginning. Every beginning has a cause, pure chaos and chance do not beget order. I don't care how many times you try, not even over billions of years over an exponential number of attempts; you are not going to get all of this from rocks smashing each other violently in space.
I remember hearing that they were bullied. Thanks for setting the record straight. There was clearly a lot of darkness introduced into their life to get them to that point.
Such a wise and articulate young man.
Can you believe he is 41 years old now. 😮
This is a powerful interview! ❤😢
Craig Scott - this is a beautiful story and testimony. My heart still grieves for your loss and all those (and their families) who lost their lives that day. Looking forward to your new book about being relationally disconnected by our culture. Character, principles and knowledge. Please keep talking about this. You have a beautiful God-given spirit. Rachel would be so proud of the ministry you and your family have in the schools. Thank you and praise God.

I remember following the Columbine school shooting. I was so sad for all the lives lost and for the families and friends left broken-hearted. 💔 What a powerful testimony and a reminder how we should live our lives. We have one life and we need to live it well. Rachel lived well. God was her everything. Thank you for being a proud brother and allowing her legacy to live on.
Amen. I remember this happening. I was 8 years old and I was shocked and amazed that some of these people gave their lives for their truth in Jesus. I realized several years ago that there would be no question if I was in that situation. Jesus died for me and now lives in me. It's only natural to put your life on the line for your savior.
I just remember being so shocked that this happened, I probably thought about the shooting and those brave kids every day for a year. God has a purpose for me like he has for Rachel but I've got to find it. I'm praying for the families of all of the lost children today 🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷

Craig had to be the most unlucky person in all of this. Imagine being at a school with thousands of students where 12 of them are killed. Your sister is one of them, which is bad enough.
