The goggle box lookalike lass should have won on pure rhythmic style, dancing in tune to the music so she was unlucky in that respect. The guy who won wasn't that bad a dancer but maybe people want to see all the spins and kicks. It's a bit like choosing goal of the season on Match of the Day and getting it wrong. Lol.
The young woman brought a new style to northern soul, the lad in the vest was just spinning I've seen him dance way better than he has in this comp but he still won, strange, and the guy in the white top was probably the dancer that seamingles moved across the floor, all were great personally I thought he should of won but all great
In what way is this the 'World' championships and not the Blackpool championships? Are there a series of year long preliminaries held in the many countries where there are brilliant Northern Soul dancers (there are many) and then they are selected and invited to attend? this is the protocol a championship would follow in order to define itself as representing the world...a grandiose claim. Do contestants have to dance to hackneyed oldies that they have practiced to for many years, or be able to reflexively respond and improvise to 60s/70s Northern Soul music they have not heard (there is much) and thus demonstrate their ability to respond within the music in an instinctive (soulful) non-formulaic and homogenised style?
It's not really a northern soul event either. It's a nostalgia event, how people these days imagine what a northern soul event was like in the 1970's. But hey, some people like getting dressed up in clothes from 1974 and dancing to oldies. I like how they have a "large print" version of the sign for the toilets. Each to their own I suppose, but I hope that nobody thinks the old venues like the Casino were anything at all like this!

There's no right or worng way to Northern Soul, a lot of people saying the lass should've won it, they're all brilliant dancers but Northern Soul have different styles of dancing from what people feel comfortable with, KEEP THE FAITH AND STOP ARGUING
There are also loads of arguments about new records on the scene, are they/are they not "northern" ... just look at the trail about the "This Girl" remix by Kungs on Facebook!

Aaron had some amazing moves but he was dancing in his own world not dancing to the music. The young woman should have won that. They took to long to decide the winner. Boring! None of them where that good. They should stick to dancing around handbags. Keep the faith.
Andi Poole which is why I raised the point. The girl in this looks way more Northern Soul in her movement. A large part of that guys movements were not what I would class as NS.

He wasn't 62 when he went to Wigan, so age is irrelevant as for authenticity nsoul dancing is very stylised and uniform to a certain degree.
