    Climbed this on my skitouring boots in winter, so yes! But it's a few 'interesting' steps and the rope was very much appreciated.

    The trick is not to look down, but to focus on the climbing. That's not just true at Paradiso but in general.

    Meraviglioso! Era giugno del 2023 quando ero lassù. Fantastico quel passaggio. Finalmente un video che rende l’idea dell’esposizione.

    It's a lot easier than it looks like. When I first saw the photos I was like.. no way. Once there, you actually have decent holds and there's no need to use the fix rope which at the time had been cut off by the guides.

    Did it some days ago. By the way this is Madonna peak :) 4058 m. Gran Paradiso is a bit further back on the ridge.

    It's really fun on a great weather like this. I did it through snow and a horrible hurricane wind. That wasn't fun. 😅

    Actually it’s one of the easiest 4K peaks of the Alps!

    • @DaveSearle

      I would argue it’s outside of the easiest 5 though…

    • @MD.79
      @MD.79 Před rokem +4

      @@DaveSearle absolutely not dude! Gran Paradiso is the school for those who get close to the alpinism for their first time… it’s classified F / F+ (Facile) depending of condition on UIAA scale! Most of people climb Gran Paradiso as first 4K together with Breithorn and some other peak of Monte Rosa as well as Punta Giordani, Piramide Vincent and Punta Gnifetti.

    • @DaveSearle
      @DaveSearle  Před rokem +4

      Yep again, I can think of five peaks that are easier than gran Paradiso technically as you just mentioned.Alalinhorn, Breithorn, pyramid Vincent and at least two of the other 4K bumps on monte Rosa are easier than GP. Trust me dude, I’m an ifmga guide and it’s my job to take people up these peaks in the summer. Plus I’ve climbed 60 of the 4K peaks of the alps. GP is commonly thought of as one of the easiest for sure but I would say it’s outside of the top 5 easiest peaks.

    • @MD.79
      @MD.79 Před rokem +1

      @@DaveSearle I was just mentioning the official scale of difficulties endorsed by UIAA. After all, each one of us face it and feel it differently and personally! There are many other “easy” 4K peaks (Castore or Alphubel, Bishorn…). It’s also true that last summer all routes were pretty hard due to the glaciers conditions and the last crevasse before the final part of GP was impressively open!

      @@DaveSearle maybe we're talking about differnet routes. I came from the right, went straigt alomg the rope and then back to the right. That was manly walking on ice. 3m climbing on the top but has nothing to do with the depth you showed in your video.
