Jethro is very light and thin, (as the other lifeguards say chicken arms), so he has a very different body shape to the Manpower guys.

I have epilepsy too....it’s so sad when you see someone have a seizure and you don’t really understand their true person. You think that it labels their personality but it really doesn’t. But I totally understand their reaction at the time...seizures are scary 😬. But they handled it so well

I witnessed my dad go into a seizure and he has never had one before, it was hard to watch that part of the video because it truly is so scary and they don't act like themselves, and I broke down crying when my dad was screaming and shaking. so I'm proud of all of you guys, you truly are very strong!

My name is kerri I live in the usa, my husband has epilepsy his last seizure was 6 years ago when the seizure began we called a ambulance they arrived as did the firefighters they got him In the ambulance right when he started coming out of it he broke the restraints they had him in it took 4 firefighters and 2 paramedics plus one driving to get him to the hospital. So i know what this man went through and i know what all you rescuers went through and I just wanted to say thank you for what all you guys go through every day to make sure all of us are safe and that we arrive to the. Hospital and doctors in time so that we live. GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU.
I’m glad that Nick is okay….I get what it’s like to be a bit shy and reclusive, lol hopefully he gets many more years to jog around the beach 🏖

The scariest thing in my life was when my girlfriend had a siesure next to me in the middle of the night,
no warning, lost feeling in 2 fingers for weeks making sure she wasn't swalowing er tongue,
yet, imagine what they went through...
In case anybody else reads this: DON'T put your fingers in the mouth of people seizing. Swallowing your tongue is a myth, your fingers are in much more danger of being bit off or sliced open. Also don't put any objects into peoples mouth, they can hurt their teeth and throat or create a blockage if they swallow it.

Do not put anything in the person’s mouth. This can injure teeth or the jaw. A person having a seizure cannot swallow his or her tongue.
@Everything you need to know, I hope you don't see this as an attack on you. I wish you and your girlfriend all the best, I just hope that should my boyfriend have another seizure (he has had 4), that people don't put him in danger due to old information.
@@lisamo1013 yeah I actually learnt this after the fact though. I wasn't taught about seisures nor were either of us expecting one :)
Though I will say he airways were blocked and she could not breath. Has any research been done as to whether this is the trigger that stops seisures?
Whether it's lack of carbon dioxide or oxygen, does the brain starve, shut down then restart normally?
Somewhere between being choked out and restarting a computer?

Since they also don't know how seizure medication actually works (they just know that it does), I'm gonna guess that seizures in general are still a research topic. I'm pretty sure though that if holding someone's tongue down was beneficial, researchers would know by now, given how prevalent that reaction is.
As far as I know grand mal seizures (they one where people shake on the ground) can hinder breathing because the person just loses all muscle control. But seizures are usually short enough that this isn't a problem (emphasis on usually, always check that people return to breathing normally after their muscles losen up).

As a nurse we deal with confused combative patients on the daily. It is hard. I hope these lifeguards are open to therapy.
They are employed by the local council. Most local governments (and state and federal departments) offer Employee Assistance Programs to all their staff as part of their benefits. That usually includes access to x number of counselling services. These guys probably are told not to be afraid to use it given they deal with near drownings and possible actual drownings all the time

I just watch a single clip about 5 months ago,now i don't know why i'm addicted to this show🤷
Watching in 2020 only found one of the vids a couple days ago and now I am binge watching the videos. You guys do a great job I'm from UK but its people like you lot who are willing to risk your lives for others that make me have a little bit of faith in humanity again.
