This is a TAS (tasvideos.org/Glossary.html) of the Japanese Super Mario Bros. 2, a.k.a. 'The Lost Levels', using Mario's brother Luigi. He jumps higher than Mario, but acts slower in many ways. However, the movie is in no way worse than the Mario version - some new creative solutions have been found.

Actually, that's a mistranslation. The toads that were turned into bricks are the question mark blocks, and when you hit them, they give you a power up. You just can't see the toad because limitations. That's only for this game though.

I understand the slight wall jumps but, how is it possible to jump through Fire Bars and Jump on Koopas from underneath them
Sexy Sockpuppet the hitboxes on flying enemies are much larger than they look, so you can jump off of a parakoopa from well beneath it
The game can only load so many hit boxes on screen at once, so at any given time fire bars can loose there hitboxes.
Jumping through fire bars beats me, but the jumping on koopas from underneath is easy. Speedrunners do this sometimes in RTA.
When Mario/Luigi/whoever goes to stomp an enemy, the game checks to see if they are moving downwards. If they are, Mario/Luigi/whoever stomps them, regardless of their relative positions.

Fire bar hitboxes are shorter than their sprite, jumping on koopas is a result of this games slightly different physics from SMB1.

Does this version also have some minus-world levels? I mean, look what happens at 01:30. What if he enters the pipe before the text shows up (like in Mario bros 1).
And i don't mean world 9 etc.
Actually, that pipe without the text loaded only teleports you back to the start of that section. Nothing else.

Super mario bros. 2 is an old game, all the hitboxes of the enemies/characters are not accurate, so that means you can touch a enemy without dying, some enemies such as bowser has a large hitbox so even though you didn't touch him you will die. you can play the game on an emulator and see that hitboxes aren't actually accurate

At certain pixels, you can clip through walls. In this case the player clipped through the wall and then entered a zone where they could enter the pipe, so once they got in the wall & pressed down, the game acts as if they entered the pipe. And I think some weird glitchy loading zone stuff makes the pipe send you to the warp zone that would normally be entered later in the level.
@@Varooooooom yes - this wrong warp is like 4-2 where a pipe is used to enter an exit zone other than a vine to save the long animation. By moving as he “enters” the pipe the screen scrolls as he goes down. It’s easier to see why this is relevant on Bismuth’s breakdown of Kosmic’s 4.55 speedrun

In World 8-1 as luigi, Most TAS players could get (344) like Mario.
And the trampoline with the wind, I did a big jump. Without using the trampoline in World 8-2.

after collecting a mushroom, the player has one frame jump, therefore luigi can jump after receiving the powerup

No glitch can get you through a fire bar, it’s something with the game not being able to assign a hitbox to it.

The world 4-1 seems to have a hole that looks like its there just to force TASers to not use the flag bug.

SMB has shitty hitboxes
if you are falling and you hit any enemy that is possible to stomp, you stomp on it and fire bar collision detection is weird. The TAS killed bowser by shooting so many fireballs that Bowser died.
