Coonoor is a beautiful place just 20 kms from OOTY. It is famous for it's tea gardens. Unlike OOTY, it's not at all commercial with almost no or very less vehicles on roads, very peaceful, quiet and serene. This makes it a perfect place to unwind & relax.
You can hear & spot birds all day long. We also spotted many Nilgiri wild Bison here. They come out in tea gardens to eat grass. The view of Bison grazing in tea gardens with Nilgiri mountains in backdrop is just magical. The Bison is itself a majestic creature!
After 3 days in OOTY, we relaxed in Coonoor for two days and one night. Our stay was in Tea Nest resort & we enjoyed it very well. It's hygienic, well maintained with good food and service. We got complimentary breakfast, cycles and bon-fire.

But we do suggest spending at least two days undisturbed only in Coonoor.
