- Fighting duels is a good way to make new friends. While filming for our test of the Akado Armory sparring katanas, Marsello was watching us from a distance and decided to come over to see what we were about. By the end of our conversation, he wanted in on the action. Choosing to fight Ron, one of our longsword students, with a steel katana. Suffice to say, we had a blast. Marsello, we hope you see this and thanks again for joining in the fun.

Question: is there an advantage in using STX hockey gloves instead of red dragons? Price and fit for purpose wise.
Red Dragons are almost universally panned by the HEMA community for anything heavier than side sword. Don’t get them.
@@lakesuperiorarmizare7787 So are hockey gloves, even much more so. Broke a friends' finger nail due to one such pair.
We use lacrosse gloves only really for synthetic fighting. And honestly, we are switching all of our students over to steel-rated gloves anyhow. Used lacrosse gloves are a good way to get into HEMA cheap as they can be found for as low as 20.00 online. But if you can spend a bit more, you will feel way less pain even with synthetics.
