  • There’s a plastic disaster happening in Northern Spain. Millions of plastic pellets are washing up on the shores from a container ship spill in December 2023. We joined one of the clean-up efforts run by ADEGA (Asociación para a defensa ecolóxica de Galiza).
These pellets are toxic to marine life and easily eaten by them.
Pellets like this are the raw material used to make plastic products. Since they’re so small, these plastics end up integrated into the food chain since they’re easy for birds and fish to mistakenly eat them. This can cause gastric problems and death for these animals.
Additionally, these plastics will decompose into microplastics, affecting filter feeders and ending up in the food chain that way.

Thanks. We’re glad people are helping clean, but it’s not a long term solution to the plastic problem.

Most of the plastic pollution is caused by people themselves throwing garbage in nature.

Yes, there's lots of plastic from people. But corporations and shipping make up a huge percentage of the garbage.

Siamo riusciti nell'ennesimo disastro ambientale! Mangeremo plastica fino a diventare barattoli di silicone😢
