Love this man. Such a short and mind-boggling story. I've always been a judger, even though mostly to myself but I have a bad habit of speaking my mind before I think. There's always more than meets the eye

I was on my last 5$, this was twenty seven years ago, I had been looking for a job in montreal, having kept the three dollars I would need for my return subway and bus trip back to the west island, I realized I was starving. I decided to use two dollars, to get the cheapest thing on the menu/I was 19 at the time. I'd walked all day and was also very tired, and sore. I ordered fries and water, it came to a dollar fifty, I counted out the pennies I had left from the two dollars, which I left for a tip. The waitress came back, and took the money(before I even left the table, and asked if there was anything else, I said, no thanks, but thank you for the service/tipping in quebec is *if you ever come as a tourist, you'll understand why it's important to tip your waitress/waiter or bartender,, in the service industry, excepting for large corporations, like mc donalds, wendys, tim hortons etc, we are paid 1$ less per hour, so a lot of our wage is based on our tips, which are also taxable/1$ less per hour than minimum wage. If it's a slow night, you make maybe forty fifty bucks. Anyways, as she walked away she said, cowardly, what do you think I work for peanuts. I was hurt by this comment, I gave her what I had left, and unbeknownst to her, a couple of weeks prior, my sister and her kids were in a housefire, in the middle of the day. She and her four year old son had been killed in the fire, as she went to the upper floor in search of him, found him and asphyxiated/they were found together, I'd been paying her rent and had paid five hundred bucks out of a six hundred dollar paycheck, at this point , I had a lot of travel, and no financial supports, so it does hold true, you don't know. Words can cause someone to commit suicide, which at that point, I was already on the brink. I never will forget it, I did tell the waitress who came to bus the table, that I apologize for not leaving the girl a larger tip, but I was dealing quite literally with pennies. She passed the messagge on for me, I wasn't trying to guilt the girl out ,but she was young and it was a great opportunity for me to teach someone something about life. I already knew a lot about life and treating people as though thye may be suffereing something we aren't aware of. I hope you learned something from this. It is a 100% true story.... was in the journal de montreal, the montreal gazette, as well as La Presse, on the fourth of january 1990, the fire was the first of the decade, and the first fatal one. Her name was Lorraine shears, her son was identified as jesse simon, but they changed it in their clarification I made them write as they'd made it sound like she was asleep with the fouur yera old, four year old at one pm while the two year old was unattended downstairs, it made her sound a, like a pedo phile, or b totally irresponsible, I'd just left twenty minutes before hearing the fire trucks, she was wide awake when I left. Anyways, as I said, it took place in Oka quebec canada, on the third of january 1990, at 1 26 pm, verifiable..... feel free to share this truth. It alos taught me personally to never part on bad terms, or with bad feelings, I don't feel guit about that because we were close, I saw her up until about a half hour before her death, which was quick and very painless....thank god. she just lost consciousness, same with her four year old little guy....pbuthem.
