South Koreans hold farewell to panda Fu Bao before her departure to China

- A crowd of people, some weeping, gathered at a rain-soaked amusement park in South Korea to bid farewell to their beloved giant panda before her departure to China on Wednesday.
Fu Bao has been a major attraction at the Everland theme park near Seoul since she was born there in 2020 to two other giant pandas Ai Bao and Le Bao, who came from China in 2016 on a 15-year lease program.
On Wednesday, many panda fans in South Korea stood in the rain to say goodbye at the Everland park to Fu Bao, who was to be flown to China later in the day.
As a truck carrying Fu Bao slowly moved to a plaza amid rain, many visitors wearing raincoats or holding umbrellas waved flags, shouted their parting messages and took photos with their phones. Some loudly cried or wiped away tears.
The truck was decorated with a huge picture of Fu Bao and a message that read “It was a miracle that we met you. Thank you, Fu Bao.”
But she wasn’t shown to the public on Wednesday.
Her last public appearance was on March 3.

This is so touching to see so many people standing in the rain to see Fu Bao one last time. Thank you all and especially to her nanny and other Everland Amusement Park personnel for taking care of her.
I am a Chinese, to be honest, South Korea takes good care of Fubao. Grandpa takes great care of it. It can be said that the treatment is much better than that taken care of in our country
Communist Chinese using panda as political tool. Stop using panda as hostage as this is animal abuse. Moving panda around to new environment is not in the interest of panda. Korea should have never sent the panda. Law and order or humanity is not in communist Chinese nature. Next time don’t sent panda to China and stop allowing Chinese committing animal abuse.

Fubao is truly special, very adorable and very smart. Fubao truly captured the heart of many people around the world. I would feel very sad too to see Fubao leave. The heavy rain made Fubao’s departure even sadder. It’s good that China is not that far. I hope Fubao’s fans in Korea and Kangpao and the rest of panda team in Korea can visit China to see Fubao.

Fubao was the 1st panda who was born in S.Korea. She can't be came back to her hometown forever that's why the fans cry so hard. And the letter of keepers is so touching. Keeper had raised Fubao like his grand-daughter.

@@taehyungiehyungiehyung4954 Becase of the international agreement about wild animals, every pandas go back to China when they turn before 4 years old. (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Flora and Fauna a.k.a CITES)

I feel so sad watching this video. Many Korean people must be so broken hearted to see their baby Fu Bao going to China.

This is so sad to see emotionally attached to panda and should have convinced china to keep them back. As this many people are loving i think it shouldnt be hard to break a stupid agreement. Panda needs all love from these people.
In South Korea the panda is well taken care of. In US, supposedly the richest country in the world, the panda's were abused & neglected.

What happened to the pandas in the US?
@@liveiria There were Le Le and Ya Ya. Both were in very bad shape (malnourished and horrible skin/fur). The panda's were always left alone (apart from each other too) and the caretakers acted harsh on them. Even when the panda's got bamboe to eat, caretakers just kinda threw the food at them. No love at all, no interaction, nothing. If you compare how South Korea takes care of their panda's, you'll see a big difference. But US zoo said it was bc Le Le was ill. Yet nothing indicated that the zoo did everything it can to help. So Le Le was eventually in a HORRIBLE shape. You can clearly see in the vids that he (Ya Ya too btw) was extremely sad/unhappy (banging his head against the wall etc)... Still US zoo did nothing to improve the situation. By this time, China wanted to take him back asap! But it took time to prepare and US didn't want to give the panda's away just that easily (contract). The rescue team from China was unfortunately too late for Le Le. He fell exhausted and died. Alone and neglected in every way. Ofc Chinese people were very angry about this. Then the focus was all on Ya Ya to be saved. Luckily she was saved on time. Just after 3 weeks in China, we were able to see the difference. Ya Ya looked much better and happier!

All cubs born abroad are the property of China as stipulated in the agreement between China and the foreign zoos. They are to return to the natural habitat in Sichuan to breed once they reach maturity. Fu Bao can’t breed in South Korea as all the pandas there are her relatives and inbreeding is avoided with them.

I guess I'm the only one that thinks that the Koreans have made this into a K drama.... We should understand that panda is not our family pets. You can treat them well but it's actually not good for the panda by making them too emotionally attached to the caretakers. Fubao will easily get emotionally traumatized and have serious adjustment issues once she's sent back to China...and it's not like the Koreans don't know the sending back is inevitable as this is a crucial part of the agreement. The caregivers in China is now in a no win situation

Any country which accepts a pair of breeding pandas from China knows that the deal is that ALL offsprings must be repatriated to China, and the parents are only on loan.

Where do you get your information that China have bad living condition for their panada? Their panada a treated like gold over there, Chengdu where the panada live its like paradise, maybe you should search how American zookeepers treat the panada before you blame others.
