    I appreciate t hat you tested the batteries moreso than the performance. Its silly how many reviewers do torture tests running long lag bolts and all this sort of stuff that youd never do with a 12 volt.

    I finally got my hands on some of the new tools. I have to say....they are a big step in the right direction. I think they are much better than Ryobi if we are speaking strictly value. I am going to use it for the next few days, but so far they feel great on my hands. The 5 pc set came with a light and speaker and I am very surprised with the work light.

      Skil has been sending new releases, vids are on the channel here. I agree completely! New stuff feels like it’s made by a different company. I’m looking forward to checking out the new Benchtop tools when they are available. Thanks for watching!

    Skil 12 volt tools are great. Love them. I also have Bosch and DeWalt cordless tools. I stop using my milwaukee V18. Had to replace the battery every two to three years,

    I have a number of the Skil 12v previous generation tools. I have been very pleased with them. The 4 amp battery does help. The lighter weight makes them my first choice for most tasks.
    Thank you for the honest reviews.

    I agree with you that these are pretty good for the entry level DIY consumer. I think you have to temper some of this with usage. If you are making a small project, doing your average home improvement repairs around the house then this will be more than adequate for your uses. If you want to start installing door locks several times a day, remodeling a house where you're going to need multiple large bore holes then you're going to want to look elsewhere. I think the larger battery is something to definitely look at. Overall, thanks for the review and the breakdown of these new drills.

    • @ProjectsForAllReviews
      @ProjectsForAllReviews  Před rokem

      For sure Bill! These were never intended to do big hole saws or build a deck but with that bigger battery they could definitely do it. I was fairly impressed they performed this well. Thanks for the comment!

    Hey Mike, I'm an old guy and I've been thinking about stepping down to 12v tools for around the shop. I'm still hoisting my DeWalts around, but I'm not getting stronger. I've been debating price and the fact that I have to go to another battery platform. Thanks for this review. Happy New Year!

    • @ProjectsForAllReviews
      @ProjectsForAllReviews  Před rokem

      The batteries make it tough to switch for sure. There aren’t many options in budget 12v. I’ve always been curious why but Ryobi, Ridgid, Kobalt and the like don’t do 12v. Milwaukee M12 is awesome and there’s almost any tool you could want in that line and it’s cheaper than M18 but not necessarily budget. I need to pick up a Skil 12v circ saw and impact to test but I’ve hung up the M12 drill in favor of the Skil for now. They are super light weight and a pleasure to use. Happy New Year to you! Thanks for watching!!

      @@ProjectsForAllReviews Thanks for the response. Hey, for what it's worth. I have two corded Skil Saws. The Mag 77 and the worm drive beast. i prefer these to the other saws in my collection. For what it's worth a year or two ago I purchased the skil 20v cordless saw; I thought it would be perfect for touch ups on the chicken coop. I was cutting 6/4 rough sewn pine and had trouble getting through it. I'm chalking that up to using the stock battery and not a 4 amp or larger one. Give it a go and see how you like it. Regards.

      Skil has sent me four of the new cordless tools so far and all have been very good. I won’t lie to you my opinion of Skil has improved a lot over the last month. I didn’t show it in the vid but I tried my Milwaukee m12 with the same hole saw and it only did 2.5 holes before it overheated and quit. Just my curiosity. As a legit pro tool it should be better than the Skil but it wasn’t much better. Hopefully Skil pops a complete line of 12v tools this quality! Thanks for watching!

      @@ProjectsForAllReviews One thing I've noticed on mine is the contacts get corrosion build up more so than my kobalts or milwaukee. IOW, they don't like higher humidity environments (unheated garage) so you gotta break that corrosion running the battery in and out a few times.

  • @idontwantcorporateretaliat6301

    I have the previous series of this pwrcore 12 drill. A cheap way to get the 4ah is to buy the circular saw kit. I kind of wish they had released different tools instead of just these compact replacements. Series 1 vs series 2 drill?

    Hey uncle Projects for all, how many holes do you think can be drilled with the 3/8" pocket hole jig's drill with a 2 amp battery full charged?

  • @ST-0311

    Pretty good performance for sure.
    I think the battery covers are designed to be mounted to a bench or shelf for storage.

  • @PaulStregevsky
    @PaulStregevsky Před rokem

    I wish every reviewer of tools like these would test them with both a small battery and a large battery. Whether brushed or brushless. a motorized tool will perform better with a larger battery because the voltage will remain higher under load---say, 3.8V vs. 3.7V.
    I'm surprised the larger battery overheated. Skil 12V, 20V, and 40V batteries use the same heat-wicking wraps as Ego 56V batteries.

    • @ProjectsForAllReviews
      @ProjectsForAllReviews  Před rokem +1

      I own a bunch of 2ah batteries for my Milwaukee tools both M12 and M18 but rarely use either. Just made sense to try with the bigger battery! Your right about the voltage and power under load, I can tell the difference in performance. I’ll make a point of doing this going forward. I think it’s a smart idea too. Thanks for the comment Paul!

    Did they maintain the built-in magnetic bit holder inside the chuck? It was kind of a unique, and somewhat unknown feature of the Gen 1 brushless.

    1" spade bit on spd 2 for a little 12V drill? I know it stalled a few times but it drilled a few of them w/o jamming. Not bad at all.
