Monk Synopsis: Adrian Monk (Emmy®-winner Tony Shalhoub) was once a rising star with the San Francisco Police Department, legendary for using unconventional means to solve the department's most baffling cases. But after the tragic and still-unsolved murder of his wife, Trudy, the devastated Monk becomes obsessive-compulsive. His psychological disorder has caused him to develop an abnormal fear of virtually everything: germs, heights, crowds... even milk. Monk's condition costs him his job, but he's back as a police consultant despite the unique challenges he encounters in his everyday life. These challenges lead Monk to hire a personal nurse, Sharona Fleming (Bitty Schram), who is always there to offer her assistance, even with the simplest of tasks (like organizing his sock drawer). Her less-than-subtle prodding keeps the "defective detective" on track in his investigations, as well as in his efforts to convince Captain Stottlemeyer (Ted Levine) to allow him to return to the force.

Which solves did we miss?
Do the runaway show. That was a great twist.
And do the one with the medicine. The car ride was hilarious.
Mr. Monk and the Astronaut
The very first.
@@frankieseward8667 yess
This mailman is the best supporting actor in the entire Monk universe. "Not you!" Hilarious. And I really liked Jason Alexander and Steven Weber.
Other people trying to do the
( here’s what happened) just to anoy monk
Steve Zahn as Monk's compulsive liar half-brother was great.
@@saneiac yesss. What a funny episode 🥳🤣 with that gun in the box and the popcorn scene.
So fun when Tyne Daly came by LOL!
@@tiananesbitt7156 Can't remember. Which episode?
I love how enthusiastic the mailman is. You can tell he really loves his job and does his very best.
I agree he's one of my favorite side characters in this show
Thank You
mailman
(letter carriers )...
RIP REST IN PARADISE
DAD&MOM
He just wears a different shade of blue...
The mail man killed it.
You don't interrupt the Monk! You're bringing the Monk down, man!!
@@paulleckner8235 I'm smoking the TRUTH, man!
🤣🤣
"don't make waves! Everyone just wants to hit their 20 and get out!"😆
😂he kills it in everything I’ve watched him in
I love that Monk doesn't like being touched yet he willing leans into Dale the Whale when he tries to strangle him knowing Dale wouldn't be able to reach him.
I laugh at how Monk is scared of even looking in the mirror naked, but looks at dead bodies all the time.
@@isaned Monk is a pretty good, if extreme, depiction of various anxiety disorders. Anxiety doesn't doesn't always make sense and sometimes contradicts itself. I have a terrible fear of heights. I have trouble getting on my roof to put up Christmas lights, but I can scale a 40ft rock wall without a harness no problem.
Such a gangsta move
@@isaned But not *naked* dead bodies!
"Wasn't much of a fight, was it?" It's an aspect of the character that I love. As quirky and awkward as Monk is, he has a limit. And when that limit is reached, he becomes very calm and serious. At that moment, all these anxieties and quirks and ticks and whatnot step into the background and reveal, for just a moment, what an absolute savage he can really be.
10:50 "I parked on a hill"
That line still haunts me. I have never felt worse for a murder.
It’s the little details
Oof, and you know she would have gone down for first degree, all that planning!
Wondering why she did it now
Don't forget that woman took a mans life because she was about to become marginally less successful in her professional life, and it doesn't seem there was a good reason for her to kill him beyond jealously that he had more clients.
The only victim there is the Captain.
@@danieljohnston2379
You do know it's a tv show, right?
They are actors
That last one.
"What's he doing?" Monk leans in closer, "He's trying to kill me".
Ha ha ha ha
That one with the pen and the hill was amazing. One seemingly innocent mistake. ONE. And it was over. Her acceptance was awesome
I know right the smallest innocent mistakes that a lot of Master criminals made he figures it out like that I don't know how he does it
mistakes during murder are not innocent. that's the opposite.
@@JamieAllen1977 lmao
No, i wasnt calling her innocent or anything like that. And you are right, any mistake that happens during a murder isnt innocent because the act itself isnt innocent. What I said was "seemingly innocent", as in, no one could have ever known that a simple pen rolling off a desk, could be a tell that she committed murder. The mistake itself was "seemingly innocent" because the pen had nothing to do with anything she did murder-wise; she just happened to have a pen move randomly because she was on a hill, which means she couldn't have been at her actual house because it wasnt on a hill, which means she faked her alibi which makes her look extremely guilty. After that, she didnt bother to hide it and confessed. All because a pen rolled slightly.
@@azuraslegs Wouldn't it be simpler to simply state that a MISTAKE costs murderers their own life?
@@JamieAllen1977 uh no? Because thats a completely different sentiment then what i was trying to say.
“You parked on a hill” love that moment
I like how Monk is so good that often time instead of denying allegations "the guy" frequently asks "how did you know." Then their real defeat is that he know because of silly reasons, parking on a hill, putting a greeting card in the rong envelope, film canister being upright instead of on its side, and many more examples.
You putting the reasons like that makes them sound silly. When you add the rest, then they don't sound silly
@@Howard0Chrisactually, it is. like there one of the episode, where another so called detective slipped a tiny audio receiver in one of Mr Monk pocket coat, and in that instant he walked funny, like out of balance 😂 and discovered the spy device 😅 silly and hilarious
@@andreasbernardi3654 lol my point still stands. Also that's a logical thing to do. It's hard for people without common sense to understand
I'm a huge fan of detective shows especially Columbo.
Columbo is tonally different but his rapport with the suspects is similar to that of Monk’s, by the time he has done his work the suspect has nothing left except to ask how he figured it out.
Monk phrasing "very very FAT man" never gets old.
"He is trying to kill me"... (moves closer to the assassin's hands). 😂😂😂😂😂
Started watching this show with my dad when I was around 10. I’m 18 now it’s still one of my favorite shows. Seriously timeless
Have you checked out Psych?
Same! My mom and I would watch it together when I was young. I love it so much! And we watch Psych.
You have a good dad 👍
Check out the interviews on CZcams from Staff with Paley Center. So cute. Tony Shalhoub talks about a 13 year old girl who is a huge fan of Monk and dedicated her bar mitzvah to Monk. A fan stays a fan forever 🥰
i watched monk with my mom as a kid, glad to see many others had the same experience with their parent
Love the “Sleeping Suspect” solve and them proving Brian did it by bringing the package to him.😁
“Mr. Monk and the Bad Girlfriend” one always hurts because of how much Stottlemeyer loved Linda, but he was finally willing to think it was her when she said Monk wanted to sleep with her.😭
I love this scene when Linda tells him that Monk wants to sleep with her. Leland knows Monk so well that he immediately realizes she's lying. That's true friendship, when you know right away your friend would never do something.
I know , what a shock
@@scenariosinthedark3969 You see Leland grab Linda's hand and drag her outside. I think Linda wanted to be in love and move on from his first wife, and that's why he wanted it to work with Linda so badly. T.K. was a much better fit for him. (obviously, she wasn't a murderer.)
The best part about the show aside from the writing is how each actor played their part to the best of their ability, regardless of how big/small their roles were. Each of them were so earnest and convincing.
Hard to overstate how good this show was
Well said.
Started watching as a kid, bought Amazon prime just to watch it again now 😂
@@daniellejackson3764 I have ALL 8 seasons on DVD.
I think one of my favorite things is when Monk presents the smoking gun to the killer and you just watch the color drain from their face and they know they've been busted. Captain's gf is probably one of the best examples. "I parked on a hill?"
That's right. Monk never lets up. Even if it hurts his friend. Once Monk gets his teeth into something, there's no escape.
The way Monk says Fat man LOL.
"...a very very, *FFAT* MAN, standing on it..."
Monk really despises that man.
Randy trying to get down from the chair is the absolute best part of the episode.
Love the juxtaposition with the very serious guilt-ridden acting from the doctor
He's like the comic relief but unlike other comic relief actually good at his police work.
love mr monk's sass and face when dale the whale tried to choke him lmao
The way he presented his neck...🤣
I just realized that this show is the only show that's ever fully captured what it's like to be out at night. You get that sense of isolation, loneliness, eeriness, but it's strangely exciting for some reason.
I remember growing up as a kid thinking how night in movies never really seems like night. But when Monk says, "It's a different city after dark" I realized that in that episode they really captured real life nighttime.
monk's diss of dale by leaning in to his murder attempt is a pretty strong boss move.
👍🏾 The postal carrier has been my all-time favorite guest! 😂😂❤
Dale the Whale is Monk's archenemy. Professor Moriarty to Sherlock Holmes.
I loved this show so much as a kid and teenager growing up
We all watched together in my family. I was pretty good at seeing the solution. Even when it seemed crazy. I genuinely feel sorry for Monk when he mourns his wife. Then I remind myself that it’s fiction and Shalub is a great actor.
honestly back when Monk, Psych and The Mentalist were all on TV, that was the golden age.
10:24 anyone remember the Christmas episode where Monk finally pieced it all together because the murderer used the wrong envelopes for the wrong Christmas cards?
Such a tiny detail. But the killer shouldn't have picked Monk, of all people. Big mistake. Great episode.
I cried more than usual. Watch Monk and you won't need Visine.
The Indian guy is amazing. It would have been fun to have the two working together more often. This is the best of all the series
“There are very few shopping malls that can hold you” 🤣🤣🤣 well here in MN I believe the MOA could hold Dale the Wale 😂
I love the episode where he loses his memory and winds up in another state and still solves a brilliant murder. That episode is so wholesome
That 1 is probably my favorite too. Also the circus one with the woman with the broken leg. I just love this show and the characters. A lot of humor and heart in it. Or when he is in the waiting room at the hospital. Another patient asks his wife (while she is filling out forms) if her wound is oozing or seeping. The look of horror / disgust on Monks face is hilarious. The Halloween episode w the candy bars is great too. I am a huge fan. Own the series.
That also was one of my favorites
I'm here to add another big thumbs up for the mailman. He was hilarious.
He fit in like a hand to a glove.
She parked on a hill and the pen rolled off the table. Only Monk would have seen that small detail!
I mean it’s not really evidence. I’m not on a hill and my pen REGULARLY rolls off the table.
This show makes me happy. Definitely my kind of humor.
We can do better than 4. We just need 121 more of these.
Monk popped up out of nowhere into my recommendations and now I'm addicted
Some of my fav, Mr. Monk n The Astronaut and Randy's theory about how he couldve done it:) Also the inflatable suit Randy wears in Mr.Monk meets Dale the Whale, Mr.Monk and the sleeping Suspect "There's something you don't see every day, ketchup bottles on the ceiling," "Well don't use that bathroom" "You don't have to shout" "Why are you yelling?"
One of my favorite shows, have a monk bobble head on my desk at work. 😄😄
I haven’t watched any full episodes, but I love these clips. Every time Monk starts breaking down the evidence and other people jump in to assist with it makes me laugh. I’ve loved Tony since Quick Change. His character as the bus driver was awesome.
I said get me an interpreter not an interrogator.
Go watch the full episodes immediately! You'll thank me later. ❤
Go watch the full episodes immediately! You'll thank me later. ❤
Go watch the full episodes immediately! You'll thank me later. ❤
This show helped me notice a lot of my own OCD symptoms and I’m super grateful ❤️❤️
I know you dream about being a cop that climbs out of a taxi to arrest a bad guy🤣
I love Mr. Monk
I love the parallels between Dale and Monk. They're both geniuses at the absolute top of their craft, yet both prisoners of their own bodies. Dale after he lost his mom and Monk after his wife. Neither have any freedom of movement despite how much power they could hold. Dale is frightening and powerful but he also needs to play tug of war with *corn dogs*. Monk can put together information that stumps the police force but can't shake your hand.
You started the list with my favorite episode. Thank you!
I do wish you had the S.A.T. mystery on there. That was a clever one. The way he said "Q.E.D." -- Monk earned that victory.
all you had to do was hide and wait🤣
Andrew McCarthy was always the good guy in the John Hughes movies of the 1980s.
"Going somewhere?"
Took me out 🤣🤣
I used to watch this show with my grandma when she was alive. I had to have been a teenager. I never finished the series but I’m def going to now
Pls do, you won't be disappointed!
You will be shocked at the ending by seeing a Monk that you have never seen ever.
The 2 part episode was a very satisfying ending to this great show.
I like the mail man and the newspaper delivery guys.
This show was absolutely brilliant. I love everything about it. It makes me laugh, cry, gasp in disbelief and often left me on the edge of my seat when the episodes were first run.
Now it's all about CG and cool fighting moves. Love the old ways. creative and artistic
I know I say this a lot but I can’t help but praise the creativity of these murders
Here's what happened... The criminals are in roundtable group discussion and each of them has a Monk story to explain how Monk put them away!!
Every case I’ve seen here, I didn’t know about this show until 2012. It’s funny that I wasn’t into it before, but now I understand it, and I really admire the show a lot. 🤩
The very first time I saw Monk was on a plane. I expected something about medieval monks, but after watching the episode, I got hooked. I live in Netherlands, so I had to download all seasons since the show doesn't air here.
I saw the last episode, after finally solving his wife's murder, about 10 years ago. Haven't seen it since. First time now. Nice comeback.
It was the same for me. The station had first aired Columbo. Then it changed to Monk. I was annoyed. But then I watched one episode and was immediately hooked. I think I know my way around the Monk world pretty well, but the folks here on the forum are even better. It's great fun to read the posts here. Like yours. 🤗
What was the ultimate twist in Trudy's murder is all Monk had to do was open and watch the video she made for him as a Christmas gift which sat in his living room for 1o years. That part broke my heart, he had the clues to who killed his wife right in his living room without knowing it.
4:45 Kimball Cho WHYYY!?!? Why did you do it? XD
From the very first episode to the very last episode where he is walking with Trudy’s daughter this show is gold imo
And it seemed like some of his Phobias were gone or has lessen when meeting his wife's daughter as you see he had no issue with the hugging at all.
Here's the thing...Monk is amazing!
Thank you for pointing that out, Detective.. I’m just playing. I agree with you wholeheartedly
@@djmocha7 LOL
oh man I forgot how good this show was... rewatching it!
When he says you parked on a hill that is like one of my fave moments
I love that so many of his solves are at very best circumstantial and would be destroyed by a half decent lawyer if the suspect didn't confess in awe of Monk's accuracy.
There's actually an episode that covers this funnily enough (Season 8, Episode 5)
Same thing happens in Columbo, to be honest.
Thank God I have Peacock. I can binge watch the show again, which I have. I just watched the episode of Dale the Whale.
I love this mailman 😂
I really enjoyed Brendan Fraser's role as Dale the Whale here. It eventually led to his Oscar-winning performance years later.
Love the postal worker!
"Fat...but not heavy"🤣🤣
the false bedroom was a really nice one.
sucks that stottlemeyer loses another love interest but monks only in it for the big picture. he does it to keep his friends safe.
i woulda had the astronaut one simply because the stakes were SO HIGH at the end. monk somehow outruns a fighter jet preparing to take off which would have meant losing crucial evidence for the case. donovan was ULTRA smug and arrogant as the villain and it was almost poetic how monk gets to catch him red-handed by chasing him down the tarmac. mind over matter became body over machine. very sweet conclusion to that episode.
This was outstanding television. Great who dunnits with endearing characters and brilliant writing
Yes. This show had a lot of heart. And it was funny at times.
As always, a big thanks to the poster.
Mr. Monk is Up All Night (Season 6, Episode 9) I didn't remembered this episode, then i rewatched it and teared up and remembered why i don't rewatch that episode.
Tony Shalhoub is a national treasure
That last one. All time favourite.
Was hoping something like this would pop up
Monk que saudade! Uma série incrível
he's sooooo cute! like a squirrel.
The USPS man should have been hired by them 🤣
5:05 Cho is not a fake cop!
Colombo was my favorite show until I saw monk. I cannot get enough of monk I love all the characters I wish they would have kept the show going the show was well written and acted . If I was a Hollywood producer I bring back monk with new seasons
I’m feeling a lil nostalgic for the old Monk commercials, wonder if they are still swimming around the web.
We used to watch Monk with my mom, she always loved it, I miss you mom 💔
This episode is Brilliant!! ❤️
Der Postbote könnte ein Zwillingsbruder von Mr.Monk sein .Einfach köstlich gespielt und die beste Szene im ganzen Film.Herrlich.
Monk... What a great detective!!!!!
Aah! Hercule Poirot is Very good too, but Monk is exceptional. Both are Genius.
Brilliant!
He set a bomb timer to go off in four months, the slowest bomb timer ever
11:43 the very clearly pre broken chair 😅
I love this show !
love this show
Love this show… I also like to read the books
I love the mailman. His deliveries are very timely. Every pun intended.
🤯🤯
Every time I hear “It’s A Jungle Out there” it automatically makes me think of “You got a friend in me” 🙂
Messenger of Evil...I'm having that
Currently rewatching monk. Just finished season 1. Forgot how hilarious and sad this show is. Watching the scene where he could've played with Willie Nelson. But his condition just crippled him because he couldn't play because the guy put his mouthpiece. It was hilarious then immediately turned sad..
I will be binging on Psych next
TIM KANG FROM THE MENTALIST!! But it is a different actor in the action scene...
That part with the pen rolling was amazing. Real cops in the real world would never figure that out.
Randy wasn't asked to wear the empathy suit, he was already wearing it when Monk and the Captain went to the doctor's office. Also, this version of Dale the Whale is my favorite. He's the least gross.
My mom used to love this show after she died I've been watching these clips more
These are my favorite videos on the robot satellite.
The writters and the actors made this show my favorite!
Cool!
the mail bomb case was one of my favorites, especially the part you just showed, where monk is explaining things and the mailman keeps interrupting him.. man, that was funny.
No solves missed great picks.
i like how much Monk says "Posner" in "Mr. Monk is up all night"
Tony Shalhoub as Monk, Peter Falk as Columbo. THOSE were the good 'ol days.
Dale was one criminal that monk really wanted to arrest
Dale the Whale was Monk's archnemesis like Professor Moriarty to Sherlock Holmes.
Cho on side quests huh! ❤
