Hi! Do you remember when you installed the rear truck, how much play/ gap there was between the rack bars and the trunk bottom? Reason is I had line-x applied to the racks of my 18 Griz and I know the Yamaha trunk sits in the rack in channels that the trunk has shaped in the bottom. But the line-x makes the rack thicker but a bit. Not sure of the fit now without buying one to test. Thanks!
Thanks for the video. Well done! I also appreciated the gear you carry on the trail. Speaking of which: Do you have a list--or know how I could get one--that lists sizes of nuts, bolts, washers, etc. for the 2016 Grizzly? I find that the shop manual and owner's manual just say, essentially, "wrench or turn this" but don't say what size the fastener is. Some of the panels, for instance, have 10mm, 12mm, and some have washers and some don't. Then there's the squirrelly issue of the allen-head bolt used in the differential and final drains. I want to replace those with Gold Plug or some such magnetic bolts that have hex heads rather than allen heads. Thanks.
Id like to put some upgrades on my 2017 grizzly, just wondering what is the best bang for the buck upgrades for performance, besides the elkas? I was wondering about an exhaust and fuel programmer? Cheers
I am thanks. Busy with life and work , so haven't has much play time for awhile.. Grizzly is doing pretty well , only issue has been a little bit of oil consumption common with the 708. Thanks for the kind words !
Need an update on your machine. I’m trying to sale my Honda rancher in hopes to buy a grizzly. I’ve got the Yamaha wolverine r spec side x side right now but still enjoy riding 4 wheelers in the Colorado mountains.
I see you added alog of yamaha accessories for protection, do you find a weight difference having it all on? The only one i dont see is the grizzly bars that wrap around it more haha, love the quad tbo ill be getting a 19 soon
There's a few others I could add as well.. lol I don't really notice the weight difference, but I am sure if you wanted strictly riding performance it would be best to leave them off. I have mine setup for more casual woods riding. With my Elka shocks though , You can ride the piss out of this quad at high speeds, and she just soaks up the terrain.. Thanks for watching!
I used two pcs of thin alum bar stock , ran it from left to right and riveted to the rack. Then I was able to use the mount they sell , and attach to the alum bar stock. If you go through my vids , you may catch a glance of it without the rotopax on.
Hi, I just sold my 2016 rubicon and bought a new 2017 grizzly! Love it so far....Cpl questions...Are you happy with thw exhaust tip you put on? Is it much louder? Have you thought much about overfenders for the grizzly? Mine seems to be a dirtier ride than the honda. Wondering what brand to order?? Thanks !!
Question ? how do you know if your regulator is charging both batteries ? I was told by Yamaha that the charging system is not made to do 2 batteries at the same time. So how do you know if its charging them both with no problem. did you do any mods that you didn't mention in this video ?
Raul Venegas Well , the battery in the rear never seems to be dead , so I suppose it must work..lol I honestly don't know else whys.. I did do a air cleaner mod ,, I suppose I could show.
Dan Krueger Lol , ya I take the wheels off often to clean , unfortunately I must have forgotten to retourq them all down , and they were all mostly loose.. I won't forget that again , Thanks for watching !
After taking some inspiration from your vids I added 6 tie down points inside my rack box today. Your videos actually helped to steer me in buying my first Yamaha. My family has always been Honda oriented and I do love certain aspects about them, but I wanted something bigger in every category and the Grizzly fit the bill perfectly. I literally knew absolutely nothing about Yamaha's or the Grizzly in general, and after watching your videos and several others it helped convince me to buy my first Yamaha. I've had my 2017 Grizzly 700 SE for just over a month now and I absolutely love it. Can't wait to get out and explore some more trails in our awesome state. (Upper Northwest WI.)
If you had the exhaust snorkel going straight up vertically how far up does it comes next to the box height wise? I’m debating on getting one and I’m interested on how it would look. Thanks
It would hit the box , which is why I have mine turned.. But if box was gone it would probably be a few inches higher I'd guess. You could probably mod it to work better with a box than I did. One issue though , you will have a burning hot pipe at the back of your quad.. I know better than to touch it , but my sister did not and burned her arm. It does come with a slip over heat shield , but it seemed tacky looking , and would have collected dirt. With no box , I am guessing it would look even better. especially if you are snorkeled.
- POHLHAMMER looks like from the image on their page you could slide it out further on the extension? Would that allow it to clear? I was gonna wrap the pipe in the exhaust wrap stuff as well.
I know there are some others , though I can only speak for the ELKA's.. Back when I researched what I wanted to purchase , the ELKA's had the most positive feedback from people who used them , from what I could find.
i'm torn between the grizzly and the kodiak 700, biggest reason for the purchase is to plow snow...other than that some trail riding...nothing major, just out for some fun...just looking for some opinions...thanks
adam ant You cant go wrong either way.. They are both great machines. The Grizzly just has a couple extra bells and whistles. Kodiak is a work horse , Grizzly more towards play.
Joshua Lewis I guess since it was so minor , I hardly considered it a real "issue". Yamaha fixed it , out of warranty , for FREE , before it became a "issue". Good catch though , I aint no pro ! Lol. Thanks for watching !
- POHLHAMMER .. great machine though.. I'm thinking about getting a new machine . I'm torn between the grizzly or a Honda foreman es . Im not a fan of the cvt bikes but I think Yamaha does it best
@@POHLHAMMER I got the same one but blue 2016 after the new top end from Yamaha people say bad about the 708 but it’s runs great and has more power than the 686 so! Great videos keep them coming!!
- POHLHAMMER did u do a clutch kit? I'm looking to get a set of those in the stock 26in size but I really don't want to do the clutch kit if I can help it. I'm diggin the set up btw.
James Atkinson Jr. You won't need any clutch work with 26 inch. I run a 2mm shim , which is very simple and cheap , but I doubt you need to even bother. Buy a fuel tuner first , best bang for your buck , imo. Thanks for watching!
Thanks, After watching your videos, I have made some modifications similar to yours. I have a 2016 Grizzly LE now with the brush guard, front LED light, winch, but am running 27" Blackwater Evolution tires. I also just installed Elka stage 3's as one of my factory shocks was leaking.
For anyone watching this... this bike does NOT float...if you put it in water it will drown...I have water locked the motor on a grizzly just like this that was fully snorkeled w the same itp xtr tires multiple times...trust me...that bike turned into a smoking mosquito repellent machine for the folks riding behind me
GarrettPittman_music Well you have to "GET OFF" the quad , and hold the front end up by hand.. No it won't float with you on it goof. Multiple times ? lol
- POHLHAMMER dude it don't work like that...go and try it and see how it works out for you....you need to snorkel everything including all the vent lines... not trying to be a douche....just trying to keep people from trying something dumb and ruining a nice bike
Here is a clip my brother took , of me floating my Grizzly when it was like a week old. czcams.com/video/d3tQPtTcJls/video.html Granted , I did not have as much gear on my quad back then , and it may not work so well the way it is currently set up , but yes it did float. I have 12" rims , do you have 14" 's ? I should clarify in this video , it was with minimal gear , and 27" tires on 12" rims. But hell yes it does float if properly set up.. Crazy but true. Granted you can not be on it , and may need to assist a little bit , but it will float. Thanks for watching , I appreciate the comment.
Livin the life man
It's all any of us can do before we're called home 👍
Yes sir , that's the way !
Professional enough! Thanks for the update. I bought my 1st ATV a '16 EPS 700 mostly because of your vids. 900 miles later zero regrets!
njdoughboy AWESOME TO HEAR THAT. Thanks for watching !!
@canadian not one. 2500 miles, 144 hrs.
Man i dont know a lot about atvs but that is impressive and I’m a new subscriber 🇺🇸👍🏻
Love your vids, keep up the great work!
Thanks !
my 4 wheel drive switch was acting up also took it apart put some dielectric grease on the contacts and fixed the problem love the videos man
Nice bush fix , Thanks for watching !
My 4x4 was turning on and off by it's self, I went to my dealer, and it turns out there's a recall on the 4x4 switch. They changed it for free
Great bike man. I am picking up a brand new 2016 later this week. Have you had any air box issues????smoking at start up etc..
I have a windshield for my outlander North edition and I love it in the Colorado cold weather.
Just bought a 2020 I love it went with yamaha for the reliability
and this is why you buy a Yamaha, excellent customer service, and tried and true engineering.
Johnny moehrle You got it !

God I want those shocks ! I do all trail riding, and the stock suspension is pretty good on the 17 Grizz but I'd like to do an upgrade.
Maritimer Oh ya , you would enjoy the upgrade ! I Hope it becomes a reality for you some day...
Id like to put some upgrades on my 2017 grizzly, just wondering what is the best bang for the buck upgrades for performance, besides the elkas? I was wondering about an exhaust and fuel programmer?

Have the same machine. Would like to see a video on how you did the second battery.. I like that idea anyways nice unit!
Finally a vid!!!!
Ricardo Arevalo HEY !! LOL
I have a 2016 Yamaha Kodiak 700 4x4. Where did you get the Yamaha front brush guard? What is the part number?
where did you get that shifter handle ?? looks amazing
Your somebody i would ride with!
Haven't seen any new videos in a while...Hope you are doing well. Your Grizzly still holding up well for you? So far so good with my 2018.

No complaints with my 17 grizzly eps
Is your Grizzly still holding up well? I just got one of the 2018's and hoping it will be a good machine.
All my Grizzly's have held up awesome!
Nice grizzly. What kind of tires are these
I like that front rack.

With the old 2R exhaust tip you had did you run any type of fuel programmer?
Kenny Cooper yes , I ran/run a HMF tuner.
thats a well thought of setup. you got everything. looks like your machine is bullet proof and a stinken wheel falls off.
Dan Krueger Lol , ya I take the wheels off often to clean , unfortunately I must have forgotten to retourq them all down , and they were all mostly loose.. I won't forget that again , Thanks for watching !
How much did the shocks cost?
Super extreme lol. Wish i had the funds.
You have probably covered this already, but what tires (sizes too?) are you running. Very nice setup
thompsonrory 27 ITP Mudlite XTR
Nice. 27x10-14 front and 27x12-14 rear?
thompsonrory ya , sounds correct..
thank you sir, appreciated
- POHLHAMMER hey just wondering do you have 3 watt or 5 watt black oak led light bar ?
Where did u get the rear bumper?
How did you mount those tie down points inside your rear cargo box? Can't really tell, but they look like rivets?
My Obsession I used rivits on some things like the tie downs, and Small bolts and wing nuts on the orange boxes.
After taking some inspiration from your vids I added 6 tie down points inside my rack box today.

Mine could not be slid. They have changed the name , so maybe they redesigned it...?
Finally going to make a offer to private seller on a 16 eps model. Only 28 hrs. Is there anything major to look for on this model before buying?
Mickey Woods If it has not been sunk , I would have no worries.. Hard to hurt these things. Good luck , hope it works out for you!
Besides Elka what other after market shocks are reputable?
I know there are some others , though I can only speak for the ELKA's.. Back when I researched what I wanted to purchase , the ELKA's had the most positive feedback from people who used them , from what I could find.
Hey just curious what size tires and rims you have and did you need to do any clutching? Or is it stock?
27" tires , 12" rims. I have a 2mm shim in my clutch

- POHLHAMMER do you know the offset of your wheels?
Does the belt hit cover with the 2mm shims? Have the same machine and just ordered a shim kit for it.
Do you have a part number or name for that front bumper ,its mean looking ?
I just got the 18 700 grizzly!

Really good 👍 Still have them on with a few thousand miles. Treads are still almost full.
Do your elka shocks squeak
no

Where did you get yoyr front bumper and ur rack extenders
Amd your rear bumper
Alex Watts At my local Yamaha dealer. They are Yamaha accessories.
Hey do you still have it?
Yes sir! Also a 2007 400 Grizz , and recently a 2012 450eps Grizz. I also picked up a YAMAHA RMAX4 1000 LE last year 🤘.
You said you haven't had any "issues" and then went on to explain a problem with the 4X4 switch.
Joshua Lewis I guess since it was so minor , I hardly considered it a real "issue".

They are great. They handle the bumps a whole lot better than factory. A lot smoother ride.
