we have used round bur , straight bur and inverted cone bur
Shape of Cavity = Bat shape
Final depth of Cavity = 1.5 - 2 mm

What's the use of making punch holes? At my university we don't do that we just use a straight bur from the beginning

It has it's own advantages like
1. You get an idea how much you have to extend your cavity
2. And how deep you have to make your cavity
3. We have to make cavity as conservative as possible
Also directly making with straight bur is not bad if you have good control on your hand then go for it

Final depth - 1.5-2 mm
