    On our 2nd day in Rome, the 1st official itinerary day on our tour, we visited the Vatican Museum in Vatican City!
    The crowds in this area are absolutely incredible, the Vatican museum is visited by over 6 million people every year! It is highly advised that tickets to the museum are purchased in advance otherwise you will be waiting in a very long line! If you google Vatican Museum tickets, many websites will come up before the official Vatican site.- so just be aware you may be purchase tickets for some sort of guided tour, you can tour the Vatican on your own without a guide. Tickets can be purchased here from the official Vatican website: tickets.museivaticani.va/home...
    Also, a free audio tour guide is available at Ricksteves.com (My favorite Europe travel guide) www.ricksteves.com/watch-read... - You can download the audio tour and listen while you walk through.

    Went there when I was a kid, would love to go back so that I can fully appreciate the history of the place!

    The Vatican is such an amazing place with so much to see - architecture, art, history - all in one place. There was so much art to see in just your video. I can't imagine what it would be like to actually be there surrounded by so much to look at but without the ability to really see it all since that would take years to do. But it looks like a really cool experience. Hope to see it in person someday. Thanks for sharing it with us!

      Thanks so much! This was an amazing experience! If you have a choice, I would recommend going in off-season- whew the crowds!

    Enjoyed this! I doubt I will ever get to Rome and CERTAINLY wouldn'y have the patience to stand in that line but being a total art history nerd I would still love to see the art inside. 🤩

      If you love art history this place would be a dream! But in the off-season! There were some other amazing galleries here that we didn’t have time to visit. Next time I’ll be back with the hubby!!

    Hello! Quick question. Did you buy the tickets at the site you posted? If you do, seems like you guys were also on a bus tour?

    • @SwiftyTravels
      @SwiftyTravels  Před 4 měsíci

      we were on a guided bus tour, so no, I personally did not buy my tickets at that site, but that is the official vatican site where tickets are sold. There are a lot of third party sites that sell tickets and guides, it seems very confusing.

    Bucket. List. For many reasons.
    The line is longer than for the world’s biggest roller coasters.
    The fact a church is its own country seems crazy. But compared to when it owned 1/3 of Europe? Yeah, a lot smaller.
    70,000 works of art. Make sure you include the buildings themselves, as they are art. And to think it’s just a smattering of the amount of expressions humanity has made in the effort to express God’s presence.
    No Sistine Chapel? Eh, just meet us at the Palestra in Philly. It’s the Sistine Chapel of college basketball.

      It was incredible!! But Wow- the crowds. We saw the Sistine chapel but I wasnt allowed to record but we were supposed to see st Peters Basilica and that fell through. I think the line might’ve been too long and the guide didn’t have time to take us through 🤷‍♀️ I’m so ready for my next visit to pick up where I left off there is so much more to see!!!
