Piston Installation Lycoming O 320

See how we install pistons in a brand new set of Superior Lycoming Cylinders. The piston rings were already gapped in a previous video which can be found here:

These cylinders will be installed on a Lycoming O320 engine which will go in a Piper PA 18 Super Cub one of the most popular bush planes here in Alaska.
Even though these are new rings and new cylinders the end gaps still MUST BE CHECKED. The specs for this are found in Superior Service Letter L04-01 "Superior PMA replacement Piston Ring gap information for Lycoming engines with choked steel or nitrided cylinder bores or chrome plated cylinder bores." I watched to find out the ring gap placements. It's a great, minimal video, but we need more information. Yes, I have the overhaul manual, but look under piston installation, and it says make sure the ring gaps are at the right orientation. Thanks so much. 😕

No discussion on oil ring orientation (dot points up) or compression ring position (top towards valves)? I never wear gloves while slathering oil in the bore. Its part of the experience. Lol

I am assuming there's not orientation as to piston position. Meaning we can install it either one way or 180 degrees reversed?

Is it common to have to remove material on all the rings? I have all new Superior rings and cylinders (with the proper part#s) They all look like they need to be ground down.
