    Hello from the U.S.. I've taken this winter to learn how to tie all the different carp rigs I come across on here. I've learned a lot from you. Your videos are well organized and clear to understand. The toughest thing here is finding tackle and decent braid that can be stripped, but I did O.K.. :)
    Now that I have oodles of rigs in my arsenal, I'm wondering what rig do you use most? Also, I fish in an old quarry. Rocky bottom with black silt. Any recommendations? I think I overwhelmed myself but it's been fun. I don't want to take all these options to the lake in the Spring.
    I'm having a ball fishing for carp because no one else fishes for them here. I think there's only one gentleman besides myself.

    • @FelixFiske
      @FelixFiske Před 2 lety +2

      No you have a stretched/tight line and either look at the rod tip for bends & twitches or use bite indicator alarms. You are using the lead to present the bait on the bottom/ledgering and be able to throw it far. Float fishing can also be fished on the bottom but can rarely be thrown as far and requires a little more preparation to fish at the right dept. You can float fish for carp if you want and you don't even need a float to catch fish you can try just a rod, line and a hook with some bait on and that can work aswell (freelining)

    • @olivermcqueen5654
      @olivermcqueen5654 Před 2 lety

      It depends what types of lakes your fishing. if there day ticket venues then maybe go for the mainline response boilies (that's what I use) or if you go for longer sessions maybe try high impact boilies or freezer boilies.👍

    question. I've seen where the hook length is substantially stronger than the main line. wouldn't the main line snap first, thus making what was a safe rig, unsafe?

    • @fishingtutorials
      @fishingtutorials  Před 2 lety +1

      Yes, the hooklink is made of braid and therefore it's better to use a stronger braid than the mainline. The reason for this is that light braid is very thin and can cut into the fish's mouth quite badly. It's not an ideal situation, so we just make sure we play fish sensibly and don't cast into snags. :) Thanks!

    Hi guys, I’m looking for some tips when fishing for carp as I’m just new. I fish at a day ticket pond and I use a very similar set up to this, although I add a kicker over the hook and I use a 15mm hi vis pop up boillie, usually white or pink. I then attach a PVA mesh over the hook which consists over bread, sweetcorn, 2 and 4mm bloodworm pellets and pinto beans. I usually cast out and leave it 30 to 45 mins before changing the mesh however, I am just having no luck at all and I’ve been 6 times fishing from anywhere from 6 to 10 hours and I’m not even getting a bite even though I can see the carp In the water. Any tips would be greatly appreciated as I am a total novice.

      not an expert but maybe try using a smaller pop up or a different rig?

    • @finparsonson4914
      @finparsonson4914 Před 2 lety +3

      Best advice I can give is before you fish always do a lap or two of the lake/pond, find the fish before you put your rods out, the weather conditions always depend on how the fish will be reacting to bait/feeding. Usually warmer weather the fish will be in the upper layers of water, technically then you could use floater baits and zig rigs, but they’re to look at when you have a bit more knowledge behind you. Try different baits as well, venture around the different baits and see which works, then stick to that. Going back to weather conditions, if it’s a windy day always check what direction the wind is going in, southerly winds usually are good for a bite, in situations like this you’d want to fish in a corner or bank wind is pushing into, northerly winds are usually colder, so you would want to fish on the back of the wind where the water will be warmer. Defo something to look into when fishing into the colder months. One last thing, winter fishing never over feed the fish. When the water is colder the fish digest their food a lot slower, meaning they won’t eat as much. So your best bet going into-wards the winter is to just use a single hook bait with maybe a few boilies around the bait, you also want to find deeper spots of the water as well as that’s where the fish will be held, in little deep pockets as that’s where the water will be the warmest. Anyway mate i hope that helped a bit and definitely let me know if it did you any joy!!

    • @andrewmcpherson1225

      it's probably got more to do with where your fishing than the set up ..most rigs are over engineerd and complicated just so the fishing tackle company's can make money ..along as you've got a decent size 6 hook and a bait on the right lake during summer then ull catch something..

    Wonder if anyone in the comments or Alex/Carl can tell me more about dropping the lead, I’m new to rigs/leads ect ect only float fished. I’m confused/concerned about dropping lead every time I fish seems strange and expensive. Is there a lead system/rig that’s safe but doesn’t just drop lead on every fish.
    Thanks if anyone responds

      At a minimum it needs to be a little longer than your hooklink, this will reduce tangles. But we'd say around 1ft or 30cm roughly will be helpful to keep line away from fish when they are feeding and protect their scales when playing them! :)
