    • @Fix_It_Again_Tony
      @Fix_It_Again_Tony Před měsícem

      Yeah, that is super interesting because it's been somewhat of an open secret for years that McMahon treated his talent poorly. Wrestlers are independent contractors who get no health benefits. They literally put their bodies on the line every performance and when they are arthritic and and their brains riddled with CTE, the WWE just finds "new meat". Naturally there are also no retirement benefits.
      Despite being independent contractors wrestlers are limited by the WWE from engaging in activities that may help supplement their incomes like streaming on Twitch and likely other forms of promotion on social media.
      So the people at the top of the WWE were raking in the cash, and McMahon monetarily rewarded Hulk Hogan for his loyalty, but pay dropped off steeply from there with many not knowing day to day whether they would have a job or not. They were required to provide their own transportation to the events, with many occurring in foreign countries. Imagine if the NFL or MLB required players to pay for their own flights. Of course many of these payers get paid very, very well, but that's because of their unions.
      It's a perfect example of why a union is needed: Immense pay and power disparities between management and workers, plus severe health risks inherent in the job for workers without any kind of protections for them and the lack of the ability of workers to have any say in their careers.

In the early 2000s I was living in rural WI just over the border from MN, but have lived in MN for most of the last 45 years. I remember hearing local radio asking farmers to check with their neighbors who might need help getting the crops in, because so many had been called up in that area. Those folks didn't envision getting called up for active duty in a war zone, even though it had happened before. I felt sorry for them.

      Ok so you should know then. Tim Walz claims he is a retired CSM but he didn't even attend SGM school. He has never been deployed to a combat zone ever... yet he made his political career fronting that he was the highest ranking enlisted in Congress as a retired CSM... not a retired MSG but CSM. On top of that, as you probably know... any battalion leadership knows the deployment rotation well in advance, like 3 yrs before the actual order. Back then CSM Walz knew for at least two years that the order was coming... so he decided not to deploy with his guardsmen.
      Any senior NCO and staff officer in a battalion or brigade knows yrs ahead when the rotation is coming.
      Do you now feel the same about a retired MSG fronting and taking credit for combat deployments he has never been at carrying "weapons of war in wars" he never did and claiming a rank he didn't earn?

    I love Jesse, voted for him and literally fell off the couch in surprise when he won. He was having a retreat at the Guthrie Theater where I worked. Jesse was coming down the hall with many of his people in his wake, he goes in the restroom saying "Alright gang, I can handle this myself." After he came out (with freshly washed hands) he asked me if I would be kind enough to introduce him to one of my coworkers. "I'll check with him." and went to his dressing room and informed him that Governor Jesse Ventura was wondering if you have the time for a brief meeting in the hall...
    Then I introduced them...
    "Governor Jesse Ventura... Patrick Stewart, Patrick Stewart... Governor Jesse Ventura... Yep, well that just happened..." then I excused myself to let the two talk in relative peace.

      Normally they are not, but a lot of plans in most Military's like the UK and US involve Reservists and the Weekend Warriors (NG (US) and TA (UK) being involved in overseas wars. There are basically two types of war a Country can fight, General (USA and Allies toe to toe with the Commies in WWIII would be example) or Limited (Vietnam / Iraq / Afghanistan). In the former the National Guard would be activated and during the Cold War, NG/ANG units did deploy the Europe to train and do exercises as if a general war started they would be required to fight overseas. In the later, limited war, the NG would most likely back fill US based slots (however medical units and alike would deploy), However fighting in AFG and Iraq at the same time was stupid.
