DISARMED! Retrograde vs Glitch! | Battlebots | Discovery
• DISARMED! Retrograde v...
Those "hidden" wheels of retrograde are amazing! A great back-up plan.
It’s true that Retrograde took more visible damage, but even so it was more mobile than Glitch at the end of the fight. With control and aggression going to Retrograde IMO, I would’ve awarded it to Retrograde. But very close fight and tough decision for the judges.
Glitch is such an aesthetically pleasing BattleBot. Like it’s so low to the ground but so effective at both defense and offense in fights like this. Not to mention the decals
I really want to like Glitch, but I feel like they need a bit more practice with those omnidirectional wheels since mobility seems to be a common problem for them.
Very close fight. Glitch definitely dealt more damage. It ripped retrogrades wheels right off. Glitch’s body shape allowed it to deflect hit from retrogrades weapon. Retrograde had the edge in aggression and control overall, but Glitch had more control in the final minute which helped bring it back.
I have in days past seen a bot absolutely dominate, but do little or no damage. While the opponent gets a lucky couple of shots and exploits a weakness, doing major damage and win. Damage is king in battle bots. This is a lesser example of that i think.
Retrograde handed Glitch over on a platter.
Farouque's beard is the true champion here.
Retrograde's team put a lifter on it, designed to get under low hanging armor. Then the very first thing their driver does is ram that weapon into the opponent's massive vertical spinner, which wrecks the lifter weapon. *facepalm* It's like watching most of the bots with hammers where the person running the weapon manages to have a super slow reaction time and attack the battlebox floor exactly where their opponent has just left. Hammers can be devastating weapons *if* the team practices enough to be able to hit anything.
Damn that was close. Definitely understand why it was a split decision.
I had a feeling, glitch took so many hits and had terrible aggression and control but retro took so much more visible damage.
This is disgusting. Glitch is a great robot and very durable. But this is like the fifth or sixth match in a row that the thing can't even make it around the box on its own without being hit by the opponent. When do they start losing points for this? They should've fixed it by now. For as great as it's weapon is and as great as it's armor is, it's mobility should make it lose every match.
Bro retrograde should’ve had this. Yes glitch had the damage but retrograde had the aggression and control.
Wow… judges absolutely butchered that decision
I personally felt like Retrograde should’ve had this one
Same.
Damage wise I'd give it to Glitch
Now aggression and control definitely go to Retrograde. So the split decision must have been very close
Agreed. Sick of seeing glitch not even be able to get out of its own square on its own gets stuck in spots on the floor... can't move hardly on its own. But it lands a big hit or two. Wrecks the other bot and somehow wins. Kinda like this match.
Thanks for spoiling the outcome
It's all in the points. Glitch took out two wheels and bent forks. Retrograde bent some forks, but I don't know as it was as critical their operation. Glitch solidly took 5 points in damage. The only way for Retrograde to win is to take all 6 points in Control and Aggression. But re-watching the fight, Glitch did have it's aggressive moments. I never saw them run away. So, while they did have a number of bad moments, I believe the judgement was correct.
I don't really see how you could award the win to Glitch. Retrograde out-drove Glitch and showed way more aggression. The only area Glitch possibly wins is damage, but bot bots were actually pretty weak in this area. All the damage they both dealt was superficial. The biggest damage Glitch dealt was to destroy two soft tires. I could see that being impressive if Retrograde lost mobility because of it, but Retrograde kept full control the entire fight. Those wheels could almost be seen as sacrificial armor.
agreed
Can't believe glitch took all those hits from retrograde and was fine. And yeah this decision felt weird
Split decision seems fair. Low slung bots always have problems with getting hung up on the battlebox floor but winning the ground battle gives such a big advantage that it’s worth the risk. Hopefully Glitch’s team will work on their driving so they can use their bot to the maximum because it’s a really cool design.
Not gonna lie, that was a damn good fight
That was one of the best fights I've seen in terms of skill, robot toughness, weapon action, equal fighting and overall fun! Great job to both teams! That was a REALLY close call!
That was a real close one.
Those hidden wheels 😂😂😂
wow retrograde shoula challenged that decision
Definitely, but this was from Slugfest last year before the new rule changes (appeals) were made this year. I would have appealed in a heart beat
I do feel bad for Glitch because the new one seems to be better, it's just unfortunate they've been unlucky and having reliability problems again. Maybe they should give the chassis more volume for the electrics and keep the rollers on top of the support so they can drive inverted at least.
It looks to me like they have problems getting traction on a chewed up battle box floor, or perhaps getting stuck on debris. Once it gets cleared up, they have control again. I'm thinking they may need to go with bigger wheels or perhaps the ability to adjust their height during battle.
Nope.
Retro gets 2-3 for aggression, 1-2 for control, 1-2 for damage, glitch 0,0,2-3 for damage for a 4-7 to 2-3 win for retro, wasn't close.
The lowest I'd score retro is more than the highest Glitch.
The scoring doesn't work like that. Its a total of 3 points can be awarded to BOTH bots for aggression and control and five for damage. For example if Retrograde had a 2 in control then Glitch must've had a 1 one in control. Since Glitch had some amount of control and moved towards retrograde they get a one in each category, leaving the score at 4-2 (Yes it's weird like that but 0's are rarely awarded. You literally have to sit still to get a zero and even then you would be counted out). Retrograde did some minor armor damage to Glitch and bent the forks so they get some points in damage, but depending on how many points you give them vs Glitch is how we got a split decision (imo at least). I Glitch took out half of Retro's drive train and also one of their weapons while Retro knocked out some of Glitch's forks and one piece of armor. So, depending on how you score it, 4-1 Glitch or 3-2 Glitch, you end up with 5-6 for Glitch or for Retrograde. Unfortunately this heavy damage bias leaves control bots such as Retrograde, Overhaul, and Claw Viper (go CV btw) in deep trouble against vertical nukers such as Endgame, Witch Doctor, Copperhead, and Glitch.
But, you're not a judge and glitch won LOL
damage: 3-2 glitch
control: 2-1 retrograde
aggression: 2-1 retrograde
6-5 retrograde
Who ever is driving & controlling glitch, seriously need to practice at driving & they need to put rubber on them wheels, so they can grip the floor.
Beg your pardon? You quite obviously meant Retrograde, yes?
Retrograde damaged Glitch's forks; Glitch damaged Retrograde's tires. Neither seemed to affect the other bot's ability to move very much. But Retrograde was the much more aggressive of the two, so I think it should have won.
How did Glitch win? There was equal damage to both bots, but Retrograde was far more aggressive and in control of the fight from the beginning.
The damage wasn’t equal at all. Glitch tore retrograde’s wheels clean off and glitch deflected most of retrogrades hits.
@@Theweatherguy damage is worth 5 points. Aggression and control are worth 3 apiece. You're telling me glitch that was stuck wherever it stopped pretty much the whole match and could barely move was either aggressive or in control to earn even a point in either of those categories to go with the 5 for damage? I don't.
@@Theweatherguy Retrograde lost its wheels. Glitch had significant damage to its body. I would call that even.
@@Theweatherguy retrograde ripped of the back armor and the forks on glitch, and retrogrades weapon never stopped and it only lost 2 out 4 tires and moved fine and took some damage to the forks. 3-2 damage for glitch, pretty even.
Yeah I can't tell either, the bot performed so poorly here
Damage 5 for Glitch, agression and control both for retrograde so 3+3
It would be so cool if the BattleBots people went to different colleges and had different colleges compete against each other
Starts at 4 min.
Wheels don't even work for 1 robot and it wins, while the others had there primary tires, not secondary removed and didn't even slow down and still lost?
Glitch just gotta move better. Put soms wheels on it to actually move, and it could be a better bot. And glitch should have lost respectfully.
Glitch is a great looking machine
so um.... who was disarmed when both had their weapons intact?? hmm
still wanna see counter revolution vs radioactive
That was a robbery
So is the Golden Bolt another version of Bounty Hunter?
Man thats another glitch, retrograde should've won. Just because it lost some tires? It was much more mobile and aggressive
Glitch is like the Drunken Master style of combat bots 💀
lmao yup and it's awesome
What about GLITCH vs Rotator?
wow, awesome fight.
Very close battle.
Glitch didn't take a visible beating all I could see were so pieces of armor chipped and some forks bent but retrograde had a visible beating so I could see why the judges chose glitch
Ummm... how did Glitch win??? They got taken to school!!!
YOU GUYS NEED MAGNETS TO GAIN MORE TRACTION!!!
Don't even know why it was a split decision, but I'm not a judge!
i get the decision, i just don't agree with it.
It's not BattleBots without Farouque! More recent videos do not have him and it is nearly boring.
Disarmed? Why is the title of this Disarmed?
My personal complaints,...the kill saws need to go because they don't add anything to the fights but end up being a nuisance to the fork bots. Faruq (spelling) still is not funny and I hate his delayed decision announcements. Lastly, the crowd cam showing the studio audience yelling "fight fight fight" is so cringeworthy because it looks so forced.
Glitch should not have won...very questionable call
It could have gone either way.
I don’t see it
when there are two bots that i have no particular affinity for either way, i root for the one whose team is the least annoying and, more importantly, who has the best looking chicks onboard.
Bad decision.
Split lol?
Glitch wins!!!!
After Faruqs intro, I am so glad I can mute these announcers. They ruin the whole show,
What do you mean they?
He doesn't ruin the show. He's like a boxing announcer.
@@deadeye_john Okay. Like a 10-year-old boxing announcer maybe. If he was in my living room doing his screaming and saying "Kenny" every sentence, I would ask him to leave. He sounds like a little kid. Sorry.
@@panchovcarlo He doesn't sound like a kid. No kid would know what he is saying
🙂👍🏻
Does anyone know what kind of money these guys get if any?
Pretty sure there's sponsorships and tournament prize money at play
@@chiefkeef74 sponsorships pretty much cover the robot only a sizeable portion and I’m pretty sure there is no prize money. This is a for fun thing.
$5,000 to each of the Championship Tournament Round 3 Winning Teams. $10,000 to each of the Championship Tournament Round 4 Winning Teams. $25,000 to the Championship Tournament Finals Winning Team. BB pays for transportation and lodging, and I've also seen that all competitors get at least $500 per battle. Of course that in no way pays for the cost of the bot if you don't win, especially if it gets totaled - that's all on the sponsors.
@@kindabluejazz where did you get those #’s? Just a general question
@@battleblobfish1159 Weird, did my original answer to this get deleted? Maybe because I mentioned other websites? I found the info via net search, info on that 'red' page from past contestants, and on the official BB page via a link from that wiki encyclopedia page.
Too much talking.
There needs to be information and context
Ho-hum. Zzzz....
laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaame fight
